One Year Ago Today

Mike Stack was SWATted.

And Ace of Spades and I were threatened over Weinergate.

  1. On the same night.

  2. I was SWATted one week later.

    Ace never was.

But Brett Kimberlin has tried like hell to find out who Ace of Spades is.

  3. Why all the fuss about Weinergate? Maybe he brought out the worst in people.

  4. It’s been a hard year.

  5. Seems like yesterday.

  6. It’s almost like deja vu all over again.

  7. Criminals … and a blatant abuse of the legal system. Disgusting.

  8. I remember the whole thing! Didn’t understand it, but I remember it.

  9. Mike deserves justice, as does everyone else victimized here. I can accept if law enforcement turned over every stone and failed, but I cannot accept if they simply didn’t follow every lead. Someone could get killed, and the Erickson swatting seems to be attempted murder to me. It’s escalated and likely will continue until someone is seriously harmed. Then, I suppose, law enforcement will turn over every stone, however so many trails have gone cold.

It must be very frustrating to Mike and other victims.

  10. I still don’t get the obsession over defending Anthony Weiner. It’s a straight up and clear case of what he did. Is there something that they believe that proves Anthony Weiner to have been innocent?

  11. Stacy McCain has now found – through Brooks Baynes’ tipster – a connection between Rauhauser and Edelstein of #StopRush. A comment at his site notes that #StopRush is connected to MMFA, and they are connected to OFA and the White House. It is getting very interesting.

  12. For what its worth, here is the IP address from the header you inserted into that thread: 98.138.83.201. A year late. Thanks for nothing, you say? I am nothing if not a giver. 😉

    Gulermo (621247)

  13. Is that IP simply Yahoo’s IP address for STMP?

    Dustin (330eed)

  14. So basically, the indicator for risk of being SWATted is whether or not Brett Kimberlin knows your identity.

Is that what’s called “a clue”?

  15. The ten digit number is supposed to be a unique machine address.

    Gulermo (621247)

  16. Been awhile since I did any of this.

    Gulermo (621247)

  17. No, Gulermo. You’ve confused the MAC address with teh IP address. The MAC address is a unique number associated with a network interface card. The IP address is a virtual address assigned by a software layer from a range of assigned addresses.

They can be fixed or they can be dynamic depending on teh addressing system and the networking interface used.

  18. It’s been a year? How time flies by.

  19. Feels more like it’s dragged for me.

Guess it depends on your perspective.

  20. I remember how crazy this seemed, where I was staying away from Patterico because I was sick of hearing about Weinergate. I just thought the scandal was over, so the story should have been also.

How I wish that had been the case. The whole Weiner-truther stuff is a level of insane you rarely see in public, thankfully. It’s just so loony – there is no mystery about Weiner, he sent a tweet rather that a DM, and made a dumb mistake covering it up. He later admitted to having sent the tweet. Where is the mystery?

    OmegaPaladin (a63d4d)

  21. Where is the mystery?

I’m clueless here too. I have no idea what’s the mystery about what Rauhauser believes.

    Kaitian (da9520)

  22. There is a great and wise lesson to be learned here:

Never, never, evah accuse Anthony Weiner of the things he done did!

    Icy (f2d3a5)

  23. Weiner was the nastiest of the left wing spokes-holes in public office. Taking him out must have been a big blow to the left wing nutters.

  24. Is there anything you can comment about the whole Nadia Naffe bullshit thing?

Her lawyer said this on twitter

.@OccupyRebellion Yeah, what ever. Frey should grow up, have his atty call us, settle quick and put this behind everyone. @nadianaffe

    LOL.
