Mail, I Get Mail

From “Alicia Pain”:

You need to stop digging into Genette Cordova and Rep. AW. I cannot insure your safety if you continue.
Do not trust anyone.

Please think about your family. This story is not worth it. I can assure you that.

Please remember, your safety cannot be assured if you continue.

I am trying to help you, a lot of people are very disappointed that this story has continued.

You can continue with the story if you so desire, but your safety cannot be assured.

Thank you for your cooperation and your understanding.

Yours Truly- Alicia

Lotta red fonts in this e-mail. That was the scariest part of all!

Big drop coming later.

UPDATE: Ace e-mails to say he received the same threat.

UPDATE x2: Commenter Miranda finds a reference to “Alicia Pain” on the Web. Lotta red in this too. Scaaaaary!

UPDATE x3: Here is the header, for what it’s worth. I don’t know if you can learn anything from a header in an e-mail sent to a Gmail account, but for what it’s worth, here it is.

Does that tell you anything?

UPDATE x4: I had an e-mail exchange with “Alicia” last night. You may read it here.

UPDATE x5: Some chucklehead on Twitter thought I was accusing the real Alicia Pain of being the emailer. I think this is clear to everyone on Earth but him, but I’m obviously not saying that. I’m saying the emailer perhaps chose the name because if the violent images at the link. Duh.

  1. I’m not the only person who has been threatened with respect to this story, by the way. Not sure if I am allowed to talk about any other threat. Let me make a phone call and check. Be right back!

  9. I think Jen Preston might even agree that the biggest question is who was trying to silence the Reids regarding Gennette Cordova.

Of course, this is bad enough that we’re back to that ‘deny deny deny’ routine, where we are told to assume it didn’t happen at all unless we manage to prove it absolutely.

Assume, for the sake of argument, this really wound up in Reid’s inbox. Doesn’t that explain why a true left winger would cooperate with Weiner’s PR, stay quiet, and then eventually be outraged enough to share everything they had?

    Dustin (c16eca)

  10. On second thought, I’d send it back and ask for one of higher quality. I mean “This story is not worth it. I can assure you that” just doesn’t jibe with “I cannot insure your safety if you continue” ya know? I mean, it’s basically saying “There’s really nothin here. Boring stuff, really. Quite harmless, and totally uninteresting. So back off or we’ll kill you.”

I mean, come on. They aren’t even trying any more.

    I blame the education system.

  20. Aaron, you beat me to the thought.

But if someone is scared enough of what you’re doing that they want to scare you, then you need to keep on digging.

Exactly. Kids these days. No work ethic. Everything handed to them on a silver platter. Back in our day, if you were gonna send a death threat, it took time, work, and effort. Finding magazines and newspapers, scissors, glue, envelopes, stamps etc. It was work, but it was worth it.

Nowadays these young whippersnappers just type a few words, hit the spellcheck button, and click ‘send’.

  89. Ahhh … finally, Weiner is no longer a U.S. Congressman:

“The House has finally put to rest the sex scandal that dogged former Rep. Anthony Weiner and House Democrats for weeks.

“Just after noon Thursday, the New York Democratā€™s resignation letter was read on the floor, a largely unnoticed formality in what became a protracted process.

Even after Weiner announced his resignation June 16, the scandal lingered as paperwork mistakes and other factors delayed closure for the chamber.”

  92. No problem Elissa. I didn’t realize that although Weiner’s resignation was supposed to be effective Tues at midnight, it actually wasn’t in effect until the letter was read on the House floor. I had coincidentally read an article this morning at Roll Call about missing paperwork etc. Sounded sketchy.

At any rate, he’s history now. At least until he runs in the special election.

Oh, btw, he & Huma were spotted yesterday – or was it today? shopping at a Whole Foods in DC. So much for going way for treatment.

    Miranda (4104db)

  93. ==…he and Huma were spotted…shopping at a Whole Foods in DC==

Doesn’t Huma know that pregnant ladies are supposed to send their hubbies out at midnight to get the pickles and butter pecan ice cream? (Of course I suppose she may not trust him out of her sight.)

    elissa (1afff9)

  94. Miranda-

From what I understand from media reports, Weiner can’t run in the special election unless the Democratic Party nominates him to run in it. Unless I’m missing something, hell will freeze over before they do that.

Going by the IP’s Stranahan has listed, whoever is behind this is using this VPN service to be able to cloak their IP by city. Witopia rents out servers from other providers.

I’ve noticed that whoever is behind this likes to use yahoo email addresses. It may be useful to see when they were created. Go to the “Can’t access my account page”, put in the ID, and there is a date on the security questions…

  98. I wish him luck with that, and Iā€™d love to be in the NY area with the ads start running.

    Comment by Susie Q ā€”

I have no confidence that the citizens would reject him. I mean… look at NY State’s political class.

Granted, it’s their business to pick who they want.

  99. I bet it’s another fat self-loathing white male liberal posing as an angry Lesbian for… credibility.

    Let the pool begin!

  100. Ace at Ace of Spaces had a..ummm…lively email exchange with the person that sent this email threat to Patterico and is turning them into the authorities. Stay tuned, sports fans!

Once you start monkeying with answering those questions you are using the method that Tennessee kid did with Palin’s account.
Don’t recommend it for the obvious legal reasons.

    vor2 (68c8bb)

  103. You would think that with all the death threats that the progressive camp sends they would have an automatic death threat generator that would send these things from some server farm in Mongolia.

Ace is right to say this person will shortly become infamous. Hopefully Ms Pain will soon be unemployable.

I wish this was more than morbidly funny. It isn’t. These death threats have become tiresome. All from the party of “peacenicks and doves.”

  104. About that header…

    Email header analyzer (http://www.mxtoolbox.com/Public/Tools/EmailHeaders.aspx)suggests:

“best guess record for domain of alicia_pain18@yahoo.com designates 98.138.91.45 as permitted sender”

    This IP address
    (http://www.ip-adress.com/ip_tracer/98.138.91.45)

    is Sunnyvale, CA.

    Mean anything?

    Anon 1:50 (ab0a05)

  105. Mean anything?

That IP is one of Yahoo’s servers…

    sk (e936bf)

  106. As Jeff Goldstein once famously said, and I hope nobody minds my quoting him, “When I’m through with you, you’re going to be an Internet verb.”

    Dan Collins (fa6467)

  107. “This IP address

    is Sunnyvale, CA.

    Mean anything?”

    That Buffy is pissed?

Sure he does and i’am the queen of england.

  111. Buffy used to live in Sunnydale, not Sunnyvale.

    htom (412a17)

  112. UPDATE x4: I had an e-mail exchange with “Alicia” last night. You may read it here.

    Patterico (135ea8)

  113. Just so everyone knows:

Comment 112 is Colonel Haiku. He’s joking. He is a regular commenter.

    Patterico (135ea8)

  114. Thanks Patterico. I thought – uh oh – now a haiku sock, issuing death threats?

We newbies don’t “know” all of the regulars. BTW I found your site through Stacy’s site The Other McCain which I regularly read.

    Miranda (4104db)

  115. colonel can’t explain
feelin’ good now yeah but can’t
    explain da pain

Ace at Ace of Spaces had a..ummmā€¦lively email exchange with the person that sent this email threat to Patterico and is turning them into the authorities. Stay tuned, sports fans!

Yeah, I’d say Ace just hit the roof. Wow, did this idiot chose the wrong two people to threaten. A prosecutor, and someone with major hacker connections and who has now declared war and set the dogs on them.

    Sherlock (d77c52)

  117. now is the time to
let loose the dogs of da pain
    patterico rules!

    ColonelHaiku (2e01a7)

  118. @113

Yeah, htom, I know. I used to be quite a hard-core Whedonista. But…I mean, c’mon…the joke was right there to be made! Alicia Pain from Sunnyvale, CA? TOO. EASY. šŸ™‚

    Demosthenes (f87dab)

  119. Alicia’s IP has been flagged by Project Honey Pot as a possible scammer.

    DRJ (fdd243)

  120. It’s from California – my guess is it is Jenny, who is freaking out from all her lies and just wants it all to end.

    Robin (6b7cf0)

  121. About those email headers…. The sender’s public IP address ought to be revealed in the line above “X-Mailer:” but that IP is 98.138.83.201 and it belongs to yahoo.

I’m scratching my head here. Unless Yahoo became an ISP, the sender was able to fully cloak their public IP.
