Andrew Klavan Is Angry, And So He’s Voting for Donald Trump
This is worth two minutes of your time. I have already watched it twice and could easily watch it four or five more times.
I think my favorite part is this:
I’m angry about free trade for some reason, and about people making stuff cheaper overseas so it costs less here and I can afford it.
I’m always trying to think of ways to convey the fact that free trade helps the poor. This is just one passage in an excellent and funny video, but it is a brilliant way to get that message across.
Thanks to qdpsteve. UPDATE: And Simon Jester too!
i got your back Mr. K
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:31 pmTrump is brilliant. His Chicago rally gets rowdy so he cancels as the cablers loop the same video. Then he calls into Matthews on MSNBC for half an hour. Then Van Sustern on Fox for 20 minutes. Then Lemon on CNN. He reaches the exact television audience he wanted to reach (not those in the hall) with his rally message; spins why it was cancelled, feigns free speech violations and bigfoots Nancy Reagan funeral coverage. and Kasich town hall telecasts on a Friday evening. Brilliant. Just brilliant.
Trump’s capacity to manage and manipulate 24/7 cable news is masterful. It would make Deaver and the Reagan media team blush with envy.
Make book. 2016 tickets: Trump/Kasich vs. Clinton/Castro. Trump will win by 2.6% of the popular vote.
DCSCA (a343d5) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:35 pmDid you ever think “free trade” is about wealth redistribution?
jim (a9b7c7) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:47 pmoh my goodness Mr. P you been trickered
this man’s not gonna vote for Mr. Trump at all
he’s a pooper!
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:47 pmJim – could you explain how free trade is wealth redistribution, at least in the sense of what that term has come to mean?
JD (d10a47) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:49 pmNow we finally know who ropelight is! Andrew Klavin, glad to meet you!
Beldar (fa637a) — 3/11/2016 @ 6:59 pmIn the last day, I’ve been told that only liberals oppose The Donald. Also, the whole Republican establishment are RINOS, whatever that means. Further, Cruz is just the latest tool of the Washington establishment.
The distortion field has been set to 11.
Kevin M (25bbee) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:01 pmAndrew Klavin’s id, perhaps.
Kevin M (25bbee) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:01 pmNo.
Bill H (dcdd7b) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:04 pmIn what I find the most ironic of many, Trump is the only Team R person left that loses to Hillary in current polling, and has done so for months. The only polls he excels in are Drudge and Twitter polls.
JD (d10a47) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:04 pm@ Kevin M: If the GOP establishment capitulates and supports Ted Cruz as the person they barely hate less than Trump, that proves Ted Cruz is a creature of the GOP establishment! Don’t you see that?
Don’t you!???!?!?1@?!!!
Besides he was born in Canada.
Beldar (fa637a) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:05 pmHold on. People who don’t vote are “poopers”?
I quite agree.
Simon Jester (2c9c62) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:06 pmForget it, JD. If you took Joe’s brain and shoved it up a gnat’s a*s, it would look like a BB in a boxcar.
Bill H (dcdd7b) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:07 pmoh my goodness
Mr. Matt Drudge is the only person what’s dared mention ted’s nutjob b-s-crazy daddy
Hillary’s keeping that in her back pocket
cause it’s deadly
i got your dominion right here, creepy poltergeist man
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:08 pmBeldar – don’t get ropelight started on his new classification of citizens.
JD (d10a47) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:08 pmmr. jester if ted cubano santorum toronto inigo montoya cruz had asked me for my vote I might woulda considered it
but he never did
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:09 pmModeration, “Patterico”? ‘Still crazy after all these years.’ eh.
DCSCA (a343d5) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:10 pmDrudge peaked with Monica Lewinski and has been searching for another sleaze and a cigar since. He found the first of the two in Trump.
nk (9faaca) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:17 pmIt’s an anti-Trump video. Watch it for real.
Patterico (86c8ed) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:27 pmA small riot in Chicago tonight. Move On (and a large cast of the usual suspects) managed to close down a Trump rally. This will be “news” for the foreseeable future.
BobStewartatHome (a52abe) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:30 pmLol, burying the night’s lead.
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:52 pmHappy, just curious, are you log cabin RINO?
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:53 pmthat government governs best what governs least Mr. Spirit
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:56 pmBob–
I can see Trump hiring some serious security for his rallies from now on. What happened in Chicago appears to have been done by University people letting protesters into the arena ahead of time. That will not happen again.
Kevin M (25bbee) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:57 pmYes that won’t back fire, just ask senator Joe Miller.
narciso (732bc0) — 3/11/2016 @ 7:59 pmthe sleazy chicago popo herd the blm people around like animals here
with always at least one helicopter overhead
it’s a very expensive, hyper-controlled sham, this blm nonsense
at least in chicago
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:00 pmI guess nobody here listens to Rush.
Attacking Trump is not going to get Trump voters to switch to Cruz.
pinandpuller (c16705) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:03 pmHappyfeet
Only in America could a dishwasher’s son take over the government for Jesus.
pinandpuller (0845e7) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:05 pm#21 That is a yes. Not that I agree with u, but I get the Christian hating stuff. Cruz is no crazy and neither is daddy but it soothes your mind to say so.
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:05 pmit’s never gonna happen though
people don’t elect a dopey p.o.s. marxist twice and then say oh our bad we meant ted cruz
that is not a thing what happens
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:07 pmMr. King i bet you monies
say Ted Cruz gets the nomination
two months later you take a poll
guess what percentage of people will say Ted Cruz’s daddy is a wacko?
I bet you a three dollar beeyull it’s well over a majority
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:09 pmnuttier than squirrel poop
end times wealth transfer jesus h christ
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:13 pmSo bill Ayers is in part behind these civic demonstrations.
narciso (732bc0) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:13 pmpeople don’t elect a dopey p.o.s. marxist twice and then say oh our bad we meant ted cruz
You assume that they connect their previous votes to today’s reality. Most of them probably don’t even remember who they voted for.
Kevin M (25bbee) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:15 pmI am kind of proud of my city, and my alma matter which is UICC, and its neighbors which are Greektown and Little Italy, tonight. I have no fondness for Alinskyites but Trump is not the only one with a license to be an a__hole.
nk (9faaca) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:17 pmMost of them probably don’t even remember who they voted for.
ok test my theory
nominate Ted Cruz and see what happens
i’ll wait here
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:21 pmRiot in Chicago and CNN blames Trump.
AZ Bob (5d542b) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:23 pmI don’t find religious people crazy no more than I think Abortionists crazy nor BLM. Means to ends, question is the ends moral or not.
With respect to polls, I find the vast majority of us ignorant peasants and typically the more educated the more ignorant. So that people can be convinced a Preacher is crazy .. Sure. They believe in global warming via minute increases in CO2 without any real proof and ignore lots a very good explanation otherwise to explain their observations. Pols say it true.
Also so happens those same opinions/polls seem to correspond not to fact patterns or logic but are reverse engineered to their selfish interests / personal mythology. So .. He ain’t crazy. That is what the press and left will want u to believe. Like Dan Qualye was stupid or Bush a moron. Uh huh.
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:24 pmHappy in one post you bring up polling to slam Cruz daddy, another you say go ahead select Cruz and he will lose yet polls show him beating Hillary.
Are you a polls guy or not?
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:29 pmi adore religious people more than diet shasta
i just don’t want the weirdo butt-snuffling ones in the white house
they don’t really understand the governs best what governs least thing, in my experience
it’s all lip service
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:29 pmAre you a polls guy or not?
i’m just along for the ride on this election
it’s very low stakes, like one of those low budget japanese anime things what has the giant babies destroying cities and eating people’s heads
it’s utterly silly but you just kinda wanna stick with it and see how it ends
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:31 pmDon’t try to get into details with happyfeet.
Gerald A (7c7ffb) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:33 pmReminds me of the Rush theorem on Obama that even though he runs the govt and does so poorly the press allows him to play the victim and not be accountable for anything. Republicans are to blame he sucks balls and is an idiot.
Same here. Trump is blame these violent thugs are violent at a peaceful speech. Spectacular but indicative of how profoundly stupid our educated class is in this country.
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:34 pmThe near riot in Chicago is one thing Trump is totally blameless on. In fact he showed good judgement in calling off the rally.
Gerald A (7c7ffb) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:35 pmHad a good friend of mine try to explain the other day how Snyder in Michigan is to blame for Democrats in Flint fubar’ed every decision over water. He has a Masters Degree in Engineering.
More educated u r then the more likely the dumber you are likely to become.
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:41 pmCruz: I would ‘absolutely’ go after Clinton on emails if elected
this is such nakedly revolting, nakedly obnoxious pandering i don’t even know what to say to this
it’s one of those things where you’re scared to make eye contact with anyone and you wonder why you didn’t just stay home
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:45 pmHappy, Trump said the same thing about Hillary and her illegalities. #fauxrage
Rodney King's Spirit (3adc86) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:48 pmyes you are correct
depressing.
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:50 pmI watched it. Sorry that my sarcasm wasn’t broad enough.
Beldar (fa637a) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:57 pmTo be extremely clear: I thought I saw much of the character Klavin that was pretending to be, in the real-life version of many of the commenters here who, unlike Klavin, are completely serious about their anger and how it feeds into their mania for Trump.
Beldar (fa637a) — 3/11/2016 @ 8:59 pmlet’s just for tonight rejoice in the diversity of opinion what prevails here
unlike in chicago
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 9:01 pmi wish i knew what font that was
Klavin’s
i checked my word it’s not there
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 9:02 pmIt’s Chicago.99% of the conservatives oppose Trump, as do 99% of the radicals. The 1% who support him are the ding-a-lings.
nk (9faaca) — 3/11/2016 @ 9:16 pmi can put it in the bedroom i can put it in the hall i can put it in the bathroom i can hang it on the wall
happyfeet (831175) — 3/11/2016 @ 9:18 pmBeldar:
I knew of course you would see through it if you watched the video. I just wasn’t sure if you had.
Now I get it.
Patterico (2975ef) — 3/11/2016 @ 9:25 pmWell Orwell said there are some things so crazy only intellectuals will believe.
narciso (732bc0) — 3/11/2016 @ 10:00 pmPoop from another ayn randist poop head. How can you buy cheep foreign goods when you lost your job to them?
trump 1 (90a6bd) — 3/11/2016 @ 10:30 pmIt’s reassuring to think that, soon enough, Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee . . . and a contingent of people will start lecturing me that I need to stop attacking the Republican nominee.
It’s probably best to warn you now: I won’t be heeding advice like that. I can’t stand Hillary and I will continue bashing her. But I’m going to be bashing Trump too . . . to the extent I bother blogging about politics at all. I would defend any candidate against a dishonest attack from the media, of course — if I felt I had anything to add. But if this happens, I’m unlikely to be interested much in the horse race election.
If you’re the type who is going to become deeply distressed that this blog isn’t going to Jump On The Team and Come On In For The Big Win, it’s probably good for you to know now. There are other blogs who will be happy to shill for Trump in the fall. Trust me.
Plenty of them.
Of course, I remain hopeful that the electorate will wake up and choose Cruz. But hope is not confidence.
Patterico (86c8ed) — 3/12/2016 @ 5:58 amOops, just saw this here. You are quite welcome Patterico!! 🙂
qdpsteve (b06fb2) — 3/12/2016 @ 2:48 pmThank you nk. Where did you get those statistics I want to rub my friend’s face in them?
Rev. TrusTED Hoagie ™ (eb7063) — 3/12/2016 @ 3:00 pmHow can you buy American goods when they cost 100% more and you still have no job?
Patrick Henry, the 2nd (ddead1) — 3/12/2016 @ 3:12 pmThere’s always been a really strong distrust of ‘intellectuals’ in this country. Probably most of the last 300 years. We all went to school with the ‘A’ student that was completely lacking in common sense and reason. So we don’t see any reason to start listening to them when they spout the crazy shit they do. It seems like intelligence is a zero sum deal; if you get superior in one aspect, you lose it somewhere else. And the somewhere else is common sense for some reason….
