Carly Fiorina: The Federal Government Is In Shambles

Filed under: General — Dana @ 6:45 am

[guest post by Dana]

Carly Fiorina was interviewed by CNN’s Jake Tapper yesterday. She discussed Trump’s inappropriate comment made about Megyn Kelly, her Hewlitt Packard years, Obamacare and pre-existing conditions and the state of the federal government.

A few of her observations from the brief interview:

I don’t think it’s the role of government to dictate to the private sector how to manage their businesses.

and

The federal government is in shambles. It is inept.

Watch the whole thing. I am looking forward to hearing more from her.

  1. Hello.

    Dana (86e864)

  2. Fiorina’s campaign-trail attacks leave out her own ties to Clinton

    Miriam Mata (3520d3)

  3. Fiorina should take a page from Marco Rubio and essentially say, “If I respond to every thing Donald Trump says I’ll never be able to talk about the important things that affect all Americans”.

Enough with all the overkill on what Trump said/says/thinks/might have meant etc.

  4. the federal government is in -a- shambles.
    not ‘in shambles’.

she said it right. you quoted wrong.
    instapundit made the same error.

  5. Wow. I never realized how stupid Jake Tapper is. By the end of the segment Carly seemed to be searching for words simple enough that even a moron could understand them. As much as we on the right think the media is biased (and they are) I think we should always consider that they also may simply be stunningly obtuse.

  6. I was all in the tank for Fiorina, especially as a VP to Cruz, until I came across her speech praising islam as having been “the greatest nation on earth” – referring to the caliphate – and when I came across her statements castigating Cruz for his filibuster against obamacare.

Sorry, if one cannot recognize the inherent barbarity of islam (try reading the koran first, then spend some time in Iraq, Afghanistan, or Saudi Arabia to see what islam looks like when it doesn’t have to engage in taqqiyah) then one is not suited to be US President.

  7. Greetings:

Ms. Fiorina does quite well in her interviews intelligence-wise but I don’t see how she will be able to reach or sway the now-dreaded low-information voters on whom our Democratic brother and sister and whatevers seem to have such a lock.

And I was a bit disappointed that she went dunking for Mr. Trump’s apples. That and that I still haven’t received any response to the résumé I sent her regarding a white House Intern position.

  8. GOP is a huffing and puffin to kill trump, this is so childish. Just keep your mouths shut, talk about your campaign. ignore him.

  9. I sent her money in May. I think it’s time to send more.

  10. Enough with all the overkill on what Trump said/says/thinks/might have meant etc.

The second thing (Trump about her tenure at HP) was answered without reference to Trump. Perhaps if a third question had been asked, she would indeed say “Enough.”

    Kevin M (25bbee)

  11. thank you Dr. Pete for explaining how Carly is sorta kind of a terrorist sympathizer

    you think you know someone

  14. I sent her money in May. I think it’s time to send more.

I’m with you Kevin M, and I’m going to make a small contribution to her. Even if she’s not my first choice, she’s doing important work in taking it directly to Her Majesty the Once and Future Next President of the United States Hillary! Rodham Clinton, so I want her to stick around longer in the Republican primary. We discussed this on another post a while back, but as of now I would like to see the GOP field narrowed to the following:

    1. Walker
    2. Cruz
    3. Rubio
    4. Fiorina
    5. Perry
    6. Carson (just edging out Rand Paul for this sixth spot due to being more consistently conservative)

Paul, Bush, Jindal, Kaisich, Huck, and even Christie and Graham have their virtues, but we need to winnow the field.

    JVW (aa050c)

  15. After 911 I think I remember her more concerned for muzzies than Americans who perished in this barbaric act. This kook is off my list.

    mg (31009b)

  16. “Muzzies?” Is Der Stürmer or stormfront cross-linking to Patterico now?

    carlitos (c24ed5)

  17. Carly is fine i don’t set the bar super high and she hops over it like a hoppy lil mama kangaroo

    happyfeet (7b1a9e)

  18. Carly was instrumental in McCain deciding on the dreaded stimulus according to some, if that’s true, then she is going to run afoul of the tea crowd because that’s really what got them fired up in 2008/9

I mean I hear people say she was McCains advisor but was she the one? Also curious why he didn’t pick her for VP instead of Palin, maybe it was too soon from her exit from HP

    EPWJ (4df1f9)

  19. “Muzzies?” Is Der Stürmer or stormfront cross-linking to Patterico now?

No, the Krauts saw the Muzzies as their natural allies.

    Milhouse (a04cc3)

  20. Here’s a big pile of dirt on Carly from Erick the Red state Erickson.

There’s at least two yards worth. Deeply dug. The vein is rich with concealed liberalism.

In the debate against Barbara Boxer, Carly endorsed Federal funding of embryonic stem-cell research for “extra” embyros. She endorsed the California DREAM Act, which grants in-state tuition to illegal immigrants. She refused to endorse California’s Proposition 23, which suspends the job-killing AB 32 climate-change law.

I hated her then. I hated the way Fox News promoted Carly as the candidate to beat Boxer, over more able and tested native Californian Republican Chuck DeVore, as if they had the pulse of California.

  21. hey now it’s be nice to carly day hello

    happyfeet (5546fb)

  22. BTW, I found this link on HotAir where somebody was holding it up as Erickson being misogynistic when no one was looking.

Naw. There’s room to criticize Erik’s position with regard to Trump without resorting to name calling.
    At least for me.

I have some history with him. He offered to set me up with a website that was winding down, designed to bash the French over their UN objections to the Iraq invasion.

    I turned him down.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  23. I don’t. Not anymore. She’s parroting stuff she doesn’t really believe and I
think she’s so weak politically that she will be the useful tool of some really
hideous people and their ideas that I couldn’t in all conscience voter for her.

It’s too bad. She seemed to have some very good points but exploring her past
I found that she’s more governmentally inclined than she now claims to be and
she is in the CoC camp as far as amnesty and the Dream Act and illegal immigration.

And I’m pretty certain she wouldn’t have the strength to push through a Build
The Fence project where a fence is built before any citizens are accepted.

And to me, that’s how thing must go. They’ve promised 3 times so far that
border security would take place but that in the meantime we should allow those
here to be able to be citizens. We were promised this would happen but it never
    has.

To allow them to lie to us again and for us to accept the lie would be the end
of the US. There would be no borders, no citizenship and no special way of life
to be found in the US except in isolated pockets that somehow managed to stave
off the influx of inferior cultures.

    jakee308 (c37f85)

  24. It came down to why would you vote for imitation Boxer when you could have the original for twice the price?

    That’s California.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  25. Just as I thought. Trump’s lead grows after debate.
He’s up to 34% now, from 25% before.

  26. only stupid losers gain 9% from starring in an amateurish two-hour tampax ad i think

Perhaps, but this is a broad-based party and all factions will wnat a horse in the race.

My first cut, in orderof my preferences, is

    Fiorona
    Walker
    Cruz
    Rubio
    Bush
    Huckabee

    Trump

    Not that I advocate that.

And just who was it besides elissa that was condemning all of us that would not vote for the nominee if it is a RINO, or voting third party, because it would hand the election to Hillary? For the good of the party we always are told to back the squish! Hypocrites all!

Breitbart employees suggest Trump bribed their employers for better coverage:

  47. What gets me though, is that people who bash Fiorina for running to the center in California (where the national center is the local hard right) can support a man who was advocating single-payer health and contributing to the Clintons at the same time. Probably gave money to Boxer.

    Kevin M (25bbee)

    nk (dbc370)

  56. Asked why she is a better candidate than her Republican primary opponent Assemblyman Chuck DeVore (R-Calif.), Fiorina said that a woman stands a better chance of defeating Boxer.

“I have nothing against white men, I am married to one,” Fiorina said at a breakfast at Americans for Tax Reform. “But Barbara Boxer has defeated [them] over and over again.”

Sounds sort of … what’s the word I’m looking for.

But I think I would probably vote Libertarian or Constitutional Party if the major party nominees were those two.

I would give consideration to voting for Jim Webb if he were the Democrat nominee running against Trump, but that ain’t gonna happen.

    JVW (ba78f9)

  65. Not to me. Carly bagged on my proposition.

She’s doing it still, during an interview just the other day, accepting without question that global warming is super serial! Majority of NOAA employees said so. Good enough for Carly.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  66. The only contact Carly wanted with the teabaggers was to punch them, right in the proposition.

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  67. Why not just stick to Cruz or Walker? Or Rick Perry even? If you insist on someone who’s not a career politician then go with Carson. But he doesn’t say outrageous sounding stuff so people aren’t flocking to him.

I would vote for Hillary if that occurs, because as bad as she is, Trump is worse. She has an outsized ego, he is an outsized ego.

Any other Republican nominee against her might get my vote, depending on how close the race is in Florida, and who it is (Bush or Christie, least likely, Walker most likely). Or else I will do what I have done the last three times, which is vote for the LP candidate, whomever that might be.

    kishnevi (93670d)

That’s why people like kishnevi are more liberal or partisan than they let on or than I’d have necessarily assumed about such folks, given Kishnevi’s generally non-dyed-in-the-wool-leftwing postings here.

One reason for that is even though I’m quite rightwing or pro-Republican, when I think of Jeb Bush I feel so resentful towards him that I hesitate to say whether I’d punch a chad for him even if the other name on the ballot were “Hillary Clinton.” That reaction is in spite of Jeb not being a scroungebag the way Hillary is. So if Bush were the Republican’s trashy, lying counterpart to Clinton? Hell, no, I wouldn’t vote for him.

I remain registered as a Democrat, but I have been more or less Libertarian for over a decade. My default vote is LP or NOTA.
I live in a part of Florida that is overwhelmingly Democratic. The Debbie is my Congresscreature, and likely to remain that way for as long as she wants. So voting GOP is often merely a symbolic gesture. Some GOP candidates for President would get my vote. Others are too establishment to make a difference, so I will vote LP. And part of my calculation is based on the fact that if Jeb or Rubio can’t win Florida, their campaign is hopeless.

But if I lean left, it is because I try to take my politics from the Bible. And as you read through it, you begin to notice that while God is not a socialist, He is not a free market advocate either….

    kishnevi (93670d)

  89. Trump is … a near clone of Schumer policy wise.

Kishnevi could you elaborate on this part.

Totally get how your vote for President is a formality. I have the self same problem in Sacramento. While my congress critter is nowhere near as noxious as Wasserman Schultz, Doris Matsui is the equivalent of an AA hire. Based on the patheticness (is that a word?) of her personal narrative, rather than skill or acomplishment. Worse, once ensconced, due to computer assisted gerrymander, she’s in office for life.

    kishnevi (91d5c6)

  92. Of course the government is inept. All governments are. Those of us of a certain age can remember how we used to mock Soviet consumer goods because they were all designed by bureaucrats. Today we face the same thing. The EPA is just one of the agencies destroying our economy and culture.

Read J. Christian Adams’ piece on Vaclav Havel. Our affluence is making us risk adverse, as the leviathan gobbles up more and more of our private lives.

So the point is, we need to return governance to the people and to Congress. I sincerely doubt she or anyone else will ever do that.

    narciso (ee1f88)

  96. From the Hilzik piece

She blames the California drought on “liberal environmentalists,” which is about as uninformed as one can get about water in the West but fits seamlessly with GOP orthodoxy.

Needs a comma after “West”. California drought is on environmentalist heads. First and foremost not one Dash Ham dam, or water storage project since the donks opened the border to to the dregs of Central America.
Second, by Judicial fiat, where once 80 % of water storage went to farming, now 46% percent goes to such stupidities as reintroducing Alaskan salmon to the Consumnes River. Don’t be alarmed if you’ve never heard of the Consumnes River. It use to be a seasonal mud trench.

Third, in order to prop up the sad and extremely damaging global warming myth, environmentalists in the government weather services have started using a sliding 30 year scale to decide what is “normal” precipitation. This conveniently excises historical droughts prior to Al Gore becoming the oracle of weather.
