He Has That Memory of Last Tuesday Which Is Seared — Seared — In Him

Filed under: Humor — Patterico @ 9:44 pm

Heh:

WASHINGTON, DC — John Kerry contacted the Pentagon today to request a Silver Star for a recent swift boat mission he ran through the streets of New Orleans. While the Pentagon claims the mission was unauthorized, Kerry claims it was a secret mission approved by the highest levels of the government.

There’s more. Read it all here.

  1. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. On the one hand, floods and disasters are great material. On the other, its this swift boat junk that kept competence out of the white house.

  2. kept competence out of the white house

Having voted for Dems, Repubs, 3rds, and none for President over almost 30 yrs,* I would not consider John Kerry competent for being President of the US. Anyone, and any party, that thinks they can turn a person into a war hero who was last seen protesting and throwing his medals back over the White House fence must have
    1. been foolish
    2. “just doesn’t get it
    3. thought they had the media outlets so controlled that such unpleasant reminders would not come to the light of day.

I want to know why he was not prosecuted for meeting with enemy diplomats. (Perhaps he did get disciplined in the form of a less than honorable discharge, that was changed under President Carter’s amnesty. But since he never authorized the release of all of his records as he promised we may never know.)

I would have voted for no one before I gave a vote of assent to Senator Kerry.

*Obviously a claim that is hard to verify, I know, but I would welcome anyone reviewing all of my posts for fraudulant material.

  3. As a Vietnam Vet I can say there is a certain “bond” amoung us. But I cannot “bond” with a TRAITOR such as John Kerry. He not only disgraced himself as a Vet, he disgraced his Country! I beleive he should be tried on treason charges and should spend the last days of his life in prison, and when he is up for parole, this decision should be made by all the POW’s that he spit on by his behavior!!

I should clarify that I mean the executive branch. Its not just Kerry but who I think he would bring in.

  5. actus,

You just go ahead and cry, we’ll do the laughing.

  6. “You just go ahead and cry, we’ll do the laughing. ”

That’s the thing though. This disaster has been producing great material. I can’t really simplify it to this. But thanks for the help.

  7. Ketchup Boy Kerry:

“On the other (hand), its this swift boat junk that kept competence out of the white house.”

Wrong again, actus. The Swift Boat Vets kept a condiment out of the White House.

    Who would he bring in?

  9. Actus, I appreciate your trying to clarify, but I agree with Gerald A, and I implied so in my first post on this thread.

    Anyone, and any party,

For one, we would probably have Sandy Berger, who should be in the federal pen as security advisor again.

  10. “Who would he bring in?”

    Competence.

  11. “I have a plan. I would do the same thing, only better!”

That was Kerry’s entire campaign platform, after all.

  12. Competence.

You think he would have governed more competently than he campaigned?

That was one incompetent campaign — at least according to notorious right-wing hack Evan Thomas.

  13. “You think he would have governed more competently than he campaigned?”

Sure. I really liked his national security woman. Also named Rice.

Its also not hard to top this team.

  14. And yet Kerry didn’t.

  15. Kerry is an idiot.

  16. “And yet Kerry didn’t.”

Oh. Its really hard to top the politics and the campaiging. Sorry that wasn’t clear. But on substance and competence? Not at all.

Watch how smoothly the reconstruction of the disaster that is the Bush presidency goes. It will be much better than the disaster that is the gulf coast.

  17. By the subsequent Republican administration, you mean?

Have you seen the various hypothetical election matchup polls? The top three Republican candidates consistently beat the top three Democratic ones.

Get ready for the permanent minority status that leftist views deserve.

    Angry Clam (fa7fff)

  18. Which match-up polls? And who ran them?

    Brady Westwater (72f6df)

  19. Take a look.

  20. Get ready for the permanent minority status that leftist views deserve.

Yup, but get ready for a nail-biter of an election every time, too. It’s part of the Rovian plan. As long as the Dems remain confident that a big victory is just around the corner, they’ll keep on doing what they’ve always done and getting what they always got. If they ever get trounced, their party could implode and be replaced by something more politically viable.

  21. “By the subsequent Republican administration, you mean?”

Yes. I’m sure they’re going to be good politically. I don’t think the problem is just a bushian thing. I think it pervades the whole right wing, style over substance.

It’s going to take the left some time to develop its own style, they’re just starting to try. Things like center for american progress etc are going to pay off in the coming decades.
