I know some of you have asked about this, so I’m glad to be able to pass this information along.
I have always held a special place in my heart for the parents who lost children to combat. It came at an early age (during Vietnam), as I watched a neighbor’s family grieve and move on with their life. But from that day I always saw that little speck of sadness in their eyes, even as their other children lived and grandchildren propsered.
paul from fl (001f65) — 12/15/2006 @ 2:34 pmYesterday, we found out that our Son HM3 Ken Skurnick is going to be going to Iraq with Marine infantry. When I heard this news I saw that same speck of sadness eye my eyes this morning.
I served and I know it scared the crap out of my parents.Now my son serves and I guess it’s our turn.
And as much as I thought I understood what my neighbors (and the Mclung family) went through in their loss, it has occured to me that I cannot imagine what that must be like. Pray with me that I never find out. Once again, Thank you Major McClurg and Semper Fi. God Bless you, your Mom and Dad.
