  4. Agreed, enoch & icy texan. A damn shame to leave a wife and two kids behind.

  5. In an ER many years ago, I was speaking with a Police Officer whose freind we had just transported after a chase/wreck. He went in to check on his buddy (who thank God was gonna be ok after a cast and some sutures). His departing words always stuck with me. “Nice work out there tonight. But don’t forget, Nobody outruns Motorola.”
Is it the lay of the land, the sheer size of the sectors or lack of enough officers that forces these guys to risk it all in a chase?
It just seems that we don’t have as many of these tragic results down here in Florida.
I’m not snarking I am really looking for an education on this.

    anymore.

The improvement in communication and coordination even just in the last couple of decades is phenomenal, which has resulted in a huge drop in the number of chase related injuries.

I think, without any real proof, that liability awards during that time have also tended to cool the ardor with which chases are pursued. Many jurisdictions have far more stringent policies about limits on speed and danger to the public.
