My Post-Debate Thought

Vodkapundit seems to think Hillary is preparing for a graceful exit, perhaps in the not-to-distant future. I agree. She passed on some obvious openings to confront Obama. Politically, she’s a realist pragmatist so she will want something in return for exiting gracefully.

Maybe we will see a Supreme Court Justice Clinton someday, just not the one everyone imagined.

  1. Any chance of highlighting the fact that JorgeRamos is a cultural separatist who refuses to become a U.S. citizen? Yes, that’s right: he’s a Mexican citizen.

Any chance of highlighting that this was more a SovietUnion style debate, featuring people – including the questioners – all on the same basic side?

  2. In the grand scheme of things, Supreme Court Justice is one of the few jobs that Hillary and Barack are even less qualified for than the Presidency.

  3. Yup. Hillary doesn’t have what it takes to be the first girl President.

  4. If Hillary is going to bow out she must know its over for her- unless McCain wins. If Obama wins the presidency she cant run against him 4 years later and she knows she’ll be too old in 8 years. A McCain win would give her a chance in 4 years. That chance, though, would be as bad as Kerry’s recent failed (pre)bid.

As for the SCOTUS job I would think that highly unlikely. Not enough Dems like her to fight for her nomination and no Republicans would stick their necks out for her.

  5. She won’t quit, her self aggrandizement will not allow her to bow out.

Oh and looking forward to the pending porn from her camp.

Too bad she laid waste to so many for many reasons and left an alluvial fan of mud and rock instead of anything note worthy, like a legacy. All her past supporters seem to be dead or in prison, too bad for Hillary eh?

Hey vince tried and rode her all the way from the Rose to the park.

Bill insured her potential demise, I was just hoping such would last so she could get it directly from the voters of the nation in the largest landslide victory in the history of the nation for her opponent!

Oh well with Obama, we may still see the same.

Basket ball is a great sport, Football, daaum strait, baseball, COMO Sey Disa, but NASCAR rules! (Actually it’s a poor substitute for Bass fishin, but whut da hell ittel work.

Now why did I mention NASCAR? Cuz dems da voters of decision!

  6. nk,

I got an earful from my daughter about Hillary this morning myself. “I want the girl to win. How come the boys are always President?”

I explained that she doesn’t have much of a chance anyway.

Thank God I hadn’t eaten breakfast before reading that, or the keyboard would be covered with regurgitated stomach contents.

  8. Hillary will be with us for years; I see her as another Dianne Feinstein going forward. But Bill. I, for one, am very glad that Bill Clinton appears to be riding off into the political sunset. Riding backwards on a donkey, gagged and with his hands tied behind him is the image I conjure up.

  9. I think you may have it wrong about a graceful exit. Could just as easily be a strategy to cause some Obama supporters to lose a little of the fervor and possibly not be hell bent on voting on 4 March.”Ah he has it locked up. no worries. I’ve got some other stuff to do”

  10. Possible support for VOR2 above about no “graceful exit.”

If she’s going to make a graceful exit, how do we explain three things:

    1. Her answer last night in the debate to the question about the Democratic superdelegates, when she sought to dismiss the issue and say there was no problem, that there were simply “rules that are followed,” and everything would work out; coupled with;

    2. An email sent out yesterday from the Clinton campaign late yesterday to all her supporters saying, “It’s important that we respect the independent judgment of automatic delegates, who have the responsibility of casting a vote for the candidate they believe is best qualified to be president.” The email went on to urge her supporters to write their local superdelegates in support of this position and of Hillary as the best qualified candidate. The campaign has also set up a brand new website to make it easy for them to do this; and

    3. The very interesting comments here that

Clinton is going after Obama’s national poll numbers, and particularly his match-up numbers against John McCain:

[My apologies for putting up a link to any post on The Daily Kos here, but I think you’ll find the comments thoughtful and intriguing, even considering the source.]

Sounds like a “get the superdelegates to vote for her as the more electable candidate” strategy to me.

  11. Justice Hillary Clinton. “Now where did I put those proceedings? I know I left them here on a table.”

DRJ, wow, I missed this…and wonder if Hillary becomes a Supreme Court Justice, is it also possible that Bill, too, could be simultaneously appointed a Justice? Two Clintons on the bench? Together?

Is there a law precluding this?

    If not, shouldn’t there be?
