  13. America has essentially been unemployed during Barack Obama’s 2 terms, his domestic policies have invited a tsunami of illegal aliens to cross our borders, overload our social welfare systems, inundate our schools with children who can’t speak English, take American jobs, corrupt our political institutions, and overwhelm our legal system with violent repeat offenders.

Hillary represents more of the same, and so does Jeb Bush. Both are the antithesis of what this nation needs for the next 4 years. Poor Uncle Sam has already grown feeble on Food Stamps and Obama’s death-panel executioners are circling like vultures. If Hillary wins, the old boy won’t survive, she’ll replay Waco, or Benghazi, and never leave a paper trail.

Senor Bush just yesterday came out in favor of the lawlessness that is Loretta Lynch. There is no operational difference; Jeb/Hillary is not a choice.

  21. That video is astonishing, but not so much in the way it reflects what a scroungy person Hillary Clinton is, but the way it, in turn, reflects just how scroungy this nation has become in that at this late date we’d give her any benefit of the doubt — any serious consideration — at all in her attempt to become the next president of the US.

    Absolutely, totally pathetic.

I can’t think of anything more boring to think about than Hillary. Especially when it’s people criticizing her tipping and parking habits. Such desperate and petty attacks do a lot to help Hillary. What’s the case against Hillary? It shouldn’t be emotional and stupid.

This ad is precisely the right way to do it. It focuses on ethics and judgment and shows consequences, so you can’t brush them off. It is concise and effective and even capable of changing the few open minds out there.

I enjoyed Fox News for many years, as a libertarian and frequent Republican voter. I used to share many, though not all, of my father’s values, but something happened over the past few years. As I drifted left…

That’s a fascinating essay since it illustrates the way that a person’s ideology can change over time. But it also conflates conservatism (or non-lliberalism) with race and age (but mainly the former). It also fails to note how political bias should be placed in its full context.

Simply put, it was one thing to be a liberal or non-conservative over 40, 50 or 60 or more years ago. But to be a liberal or non-conservative in the context of the US in the 21st century is to be quite leftwing. And the author of the Salon.com essay doesn’t seem to realize that.

As a learning experience, people like him should be given a one-way ticket to the city of Detroit or the country of Venezuela.

    Mark (6c31df)

  27. But Hillary! is still a POS. Could even Democrats put up with the stench?

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

She’s a democrat. She’s a piece of *&^&. She stinks. She’s a doo doo head. Ra Ra Ra Team R Forever.

If you don’t like Republicans (and most Americans wisely do not), then this sort of crying about Hillary means something else. It means it’s important to send a message about respecting successful women, especially since the only argument against it is so pathetic. The media will surely do all it can to amplify those who sound like this.

Some in the GOP are so extremely out of whack they don’t even recognize Hillary is accomplished. For all her many many mistakes and scandals, she did work on the House Judiciary Committee, was a lawyer, was a US Senator, Secretary of State, and a more policy oriented first lady than most. So what, the GOP cheerleader says, she was helped by her close connection to a major politician. John Mccain, Mitt Romney, George W Bush, George HW Bush, were also helped by who they married or were born to. That’s how the world works, fair or not.

If the GOP nominates Cruz or Paul or Rubio, she will have the better resume in the eyes of most voters. Oh, but her efforts were unsuccessful. Really? Compared with Cruz’s filibuster (which I admired)? The GOP spat on those efforts and we have gone in the exact opposite direction, whereas the democrats are saying Hillary was a pioneer for health care reform, and if you don’t see the coming argument for ‘fixing’ Obamacare with Hillary’s ideas, you are blind.

I disagree with her on basically everything, and think most of her decisions were mistakes, but women out there who are looking for an example of women who made it to the top have her on the list. Dismissing her crudely is playing right into the notion that it’s time for America to elevate a woman to the presidency. The argument against her should be respectful and serious.

Steve is trying to say that democrats should be ashamed of Hillary’s corruption and nominate someone else, but his emotions changed his argument to something more like a yapping chihuahua overcome with fear. While it doesn’t matter much on this comment section, it does matter. The character of the opposition matters a lot. 2012 showed the GOP at its worst. There is a pervasive lack of empathy for the 47%, the moochers, the illegals, etc. Instead of the 80s GOP that tried to explain how responsible spending and less government actually gives opportunity to these folks, the modern GOP notes how those aren’t votes we can get, while mercilessly plotting to nominate the most electable guy (which always leads to some inoffensive flip flopping fake thatyou can’t trust). The internet makes it very easy for us to see the true character of each side. Voters know, and that’s why I think we should elevate serious arguments and criticize the unserious ones.

    Dustin (2a8be7)

  28. So, Dustin, you think Cruz has a poor resume? If so, you’d better go take another look. He did it all on his own, too. Every thing on Hillary’s resume after law school happened because she married Bill.

  32. Senator Hillary Clinton had 2 of the 337 bills she introduced in the Senate become law… 2 for 337… now that’s effective! Hillary!

  33. his emotions changed his argument to something more like a yapping chihuahua overcome with fear.

You forgot homophobia, islamophobia, racism, sexism, and misgendrism. The last of which I understand is a form of microaggression.

    Hope this helps.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  34. Dustin did get one thing right. I do live in fear. I flew in Navy helos and I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. Ever.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  35. Effective! Resume!

“Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

    Why?

“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.” ”

    Hillary!

  37. Does anyone remember that Marine Corps jody we used to sing?

Now that Dustin has brought it up, I realize the only part I remember is “If we have to bail out, chop, chop, chop.”

It’s going to be bothering me all day.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  38. There is a pervasive lack of empathy for the 47%, the moochers, the illegals, etc

Dustin, your mindset is the reason this nation is consumed with and toppling over from the effects of political correctness gone berserk.

In general, a streak of do-gooder populism appears to be undergirding some of your take on things — and I’ve witnessed the same reaction in various non-liberals, if not certain folks on the right — and seems to be why you have an easier time sniping at Republicans running for the White House instead of the grotesque Hillary.

That’s an interesting dynamic to observe, however, because from such things originate squish-squish, which is a big reason why even non-liberals (presumably) in the US military are tip-toeing around characters like Nidal Hassan. It’s also a lesson to me why a nation can become corrupt so quickly in various shapes and forms.

    Mark (6c31df)

  39. I haven’t drifted left. But the Establishment Bush/Rove/Romney GOP decided the middle class was a bunch of rubes. All that limited government talk was rhetoric for Election Time and instead they’d borrow from invade or invite the rest of the planet. We had 8 years of Bush Jr. 6 years under Obama of a GOP Congress, and they have done nothing for the cause of limited cosntitutional gtovernance. heck, they abrely explain it and may not even care about it except to get us behind them.

Since the day Reagan wne thome spare about 5 minutes of the Perot campaign, working and middle class people have been getting it, hard. We are of no value to the Dems, who cater to the undeclass and the coastal elites. The GOP instead babbles on about more war (which nobody wants and Israel, God bless them, can defend themselves), abortion (which will never be outlawed) and gay marriage(a reality, what ever, nobody under 30 sees this as an issue). The idea Senor Bush has a shot is beyond a disgrace. His brother took a torch to the GOP brand. Understand, I will vote against Hillary, but there are many people who can make the argument the Clinton 1990s were a time of peace and prosperity. I am done voting for the lesser of evils(libertarian, Constitution, the guy who stops by the offce and claims to have invented basketball on skateboards, fine). My vote will not be wasted, it will have been thrown away by the GOP. And if that means Hillary!, so be it. May be we need the system to crash and burn.

    Bugg (bd9445)

  40. Oh, yeah, it’s all coming back to me.

I wanna be a helo pilot

So if I ever have to punch out
I’ll be salami, chop, chop, chop

    Thanks Dustin!

  41. “Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said in an interview last week. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.” ”

I vaguely recall such things being said about her, as she was over 40 years ago, but not stated quite so boldly or explicitly, even more so from a staunch Democrat—and backed up further by the way she has been over the past 20 years.

I can’t imagine any non-deranged conservative giving so many passes to a Republican counterpart to Hillary Clinton, meaning that if far more people on the left refuse to question what Bill’s doormat is all about, that verifies the suspicion that liberalism truly is a form of mental illness.

    Mark (6c31df)

  42. Dustin, if you’re still thinking about a Florida vacation, now’s the time. Hurricanes are not in season, most of the Snow Birds are already gone, the college kids’ mess has been cleaned up, prices are coming down, and the eye of heaven won’t shine too hot till late May.

    ropelight (375963)

  43. but there are many people who can make the argument the Clinton 1990s were a time of peace and prosperity.

And many who wax poetic about that era often sidestep the fact the US Congress during many of those same years was controlled by the Republicans who forced Bill Clinton to be less leftwing than he’d otherwise have been, not to mention the peculiar nature of the economic boom caused by the dot-com craze of the late 1990s. I say that because a comment almost identical to yours was mentioned to me by a quasi-conservative a few years ago, who paused (and seemed a bit ill-at-ease) when I placed his nostalgia in fuller context.

    Mark (6c31df)

  44. SECRETARY of STATE HILLARY! CLINTON: “Good morning. Well, let me welcome our friends and colleagues from Morocco here to the Benjamin Franklin Room on the eighth floor of the State Department for this very important first session of the U.S.-Morocco Strategic Dialogue. Before I begin to address the significance of this Strategic Dialogue and the next step in our long relations with Morocco, I want to say a few words about the events unfolding in the world today.
We are closely watching what is happening in Yemen and elsewhere, and we certainly hope and expect that there will be steps taken to avoid violence and prevent the escalation of protests into violence.

I also want to take a moment to address the video circulating on the Internet that has led to these protests in a number of countries. Let me state very clearly – and I hope it is obvious – that the United States Government had absolutely nothing to do with this video. We absolutely reject its content and message. America’s commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. And as you know, we are home to people of all religions, many of whom came to this country seeking the right to exercise their own religion, including, of course, millions of Muslims. And we have the greatest respect for people of faith.

To us, to me personally, this video is disgusting and reprehensible. It appears to have a deeply cynical purpose: to denigrate a great religion and to provoke rage. But as I said yesterday, there is no justification, none at all, for responding to this video with violence. We condemn the violence that has resulted in the strongest terms, and we greatly appreciate that many Muslims in the United States and around the world have spoken out on this issue.

Violence, we believe, has no place in religion and is no way to honor religion. Islam, like other religions, respects the fundamental dignity of human beings, and it is a violation of that fundamental dignity to wage attacks on innocents. As long as there are those who are willing to shed blood and take innocent life in the name of religion, the name of God, the world will never know a true and lasting peace. It is especially wrong for violence to be directed against diplomatic missions. These are places whose very purpose is peaceful: to promote better understanding across countries and cultures. All governments have a responsibility to protect those spaces and people, because to attack an embassy is to attack the idea that we can work together to build understanding and a better future.”

If any wonder why there’s not much tolerance in Muslim-majority countries for ANY religious differences, here’s your answer:

By not pointedly and explicitly defending freedom of religion and speech, Hillary!, like Obama and others in the Obama administration, has effectively surrendered those principles to the maniacal mob and concurrently sent a clear signal to the world that the extremists’ values trump America’s.

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

  45. Mark-true. And yet the Boehner Congress doesn’t even bother to try.If Boehner was Supreme Allied Commander in WWII, the Allies would not have hit the beach until 1982. We have a bunch of dumb….will spare you thw word, less than manly sorts running the GOP. And Clinton, for his legion of faults, at least was pragmatic enough to go along. Again, Hillary! will not get my vote, but you can see the argument.

Further the idea Scott Walker, fresh off throwing working people under the bus is gonna be a big hit, geez, I really don’t know if the GOP leadership understands who their voters should be or were. And any of the more immigration guys is a nonstarter. There’s Cruz, may be…and. Where are you Jeff Sessions?

  50. Violence, we believe, has no place in religion and is no way to honor religion. Islam, like other religions, respects the fundamental dignity of human beings

I’m ultra curious to know why secularists believe all religions are alike?

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  51. Sorry. This is about Hillary!, not religion. But her statement is stooopid.

Yeah. One of the pillars of Islam is to follow authoritative statements from the SecState.

    Steve57 (cd6f9a)

  52. And yet the Boehner Congress doesn’t even bother to try.

I’ll be the last to say there isn’t too much squish-squish in people like Boehner.

I saw sort of a manifestation of that a few weeks ago in one of Patterico’s posts. He was ruminating about differing opinions and — perhaps because he had just witnessed how heated or petty conflicting viewpoints can become — hauled out the line about since everyone has a different opinion, everyone is entitled to those opinions, and we therefore need to accept that reality—and (I’m adding this to my spin or paraphrase) kum-ba-yah!

This type of response has been further heightened by all the Americans who, based on opinion polls, have given and are giving way too much of the benefit of the doubt to the scroungy Democrat Party during moments like the budget sequestration a few years ago and, more recently, to outright leftwing disgraces like Clinton and Obama.

The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.

    Mark (6c31df)

  53. unfortunately, the mental illness isn’t confined to the Left.

Quite seriously, Colonel, is there any Republican/conservative who is as sleazy, dishonesty and inept as Hillary Clinton (et al), yet who remains popular with most of the party faithful or people of the right in general?

    Mark (6c31df)

  54. Mark – your need to find squish-ness in people is precious.

  57. Dustin, I feel bad that you are so filled with anger or whatever it is. I am sure you are right that many women and men will vote for Hillary just because they think “it’s time” to have a female president. I agree with you that it would be preferable not to concentrate so much on her looks and physical non-attributes. But her age and stamina are definitely things that should be discussed. And as a woman, for what it’s worth, I do not consider her to be accomplished as you apparently do. There is not a single sincere cell in her body. It is true that she has become wealthy and she has some titles on her resume. But titles mean absolutely nothing if the job is done poorly and has caused harm. Titles do not signify accomplishment. They signify opportunity for accomplishment. I give her credit for earning a law degree at top university at a time when fewer women went into the legal profession. But how she’s misused that law degree is shocking. And pretty much everything else she’s touched past that, has been on Bill’s coattails, and as a result of intra-party deal making, and has involved the selling of her soul. No, I am not going to be “respectful and serious” when nothing about her deserves it –and when the media and her own campaign have already shown they have no intention of treating her opponents in a serious and respectful manner.
