It’s Come to This

[Guest post by Aaron Worthing; if you have tips, please send them here.]

I have been accused of being a nerd (guilty!) several times, but even for me this is a bit much.  Behold, Darth Vader Lingerie:

Wow and that costs only about $178.  You know, all I can say is that if you are a man and you meet a woman willing to dress up like this for free, marry that girl.

This is all from IGN’s 2010 Gamer Girl Gift Guide, which is a collection of gifts you should never, ever consider buying a real life girl unless you want her to leave you, featuring girls who probably won’t give you the time of day in real life.  You can go to the article and peruse the selections, many of which seem like an excuse to get a model into a tight t-shirt (mind you, I am not complaining).  But this one seemed particularly special:

Now, I know for the men it might be hard to pay attention to artwork on the shirt, but if you do…  well, I wonder if you see what I see?

  1. All you need is the ThinkGeek catalog.

  2. You should not have come, Obi-Wan. I am the master now.

  3. The only problem my wife would have with many of these products is that they need to be sanitized because a prostitute was playing with them.

She would probably like the Sackboy toy or the Wompa rug or the Companion Cube (though I don’t buy that sort of thing because it’s just clutter), though I guarantee the girl in the ad had no idea what that stuff was.

Getting her to enjoy our PS3 was a simple matter of buying a pink PS3 controller.

my wife’s hook was “uncharted: drake’s fortune” (and later, the sequel). She’s almost like the girl in the commercial who thinks UC2:AT is a movie. Anytime she hears me playing either game, she has to watch.

Of course on the ps2, she likes ratchet and clank the best.

Well, actually I’m like the girl in that commercial when my wife plays Assassins Creed 2. Some of the games these days are a lot of fun to watch.

It’s getting chilly, which is the time of year that we spend in front of the TV instead of out with the dog. Probably time to pick up a new game, actually.

  6. Like ‘Dirty Harry Said, you owe it to yourself to live a little. Even ‘Nerds’ need sex,I think.

Well, if you are in the market, here’s what i have gotten as, um, early christmas gifts:

AC: Brotherhood. robust single player. i haven’t ventured into multiplayer, but its basically the same game as the last one, so far, mostly.

Transformers: War for Cybertron. Pretty good, but short.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Alot of comparisons are made between this and God of War. i would say that while God of War almost to take alot of inspiration from 300 (despite the fact that GOW came out first before 300–but they still have a similar vibe), this game is more like Lord of the Rings. very good action game, although patrick stewart’s voice over work is a bit much at times. And there are moments that are blatantly ripping off Shadow of the Collossus, but that’s not a bad thing, either.

Fallout New Vegas. Basically a slight upgrade from Fallout 3, but not by much. But then, the last one was awesome, so…

Of course in the last two few days i have been obessed with Dead Nation and Uno. Uno is surprisingly fun online, especially if you enable voice chat. that is because ideally uno is vicious game, and the anonymity of the internet allows you to be as mean as you want to be. “Oh darn, that is a draw four. and now i am jumping in with my own. So now you draw 8. Sorry.” And apparently i am really good, ranked somewhere around 4,000 out of 30,000 if i am reading things right.

Oh, and if you have not gotten Red Dead Redemption, that is one of the best open world games in a long time. And they have a great DLC pack “Undead Nightmare” which you can now buy in stores as a complete standalone. I haven’t played through all of it, but it seems pretty obvious that the main character is having a nightmare, where suddenly the world is infected by zombies. So its sort of an open world survival horror game, and surprisingly it works. The first time your horse rides up and you see it has become a zombie horse, is pretty cool.

  8. Hey! I’d be delighted if my husband got me that adorable Batman hoodie! Or most of the Tshirts. And I’d only get annoyed about the laptop because I prefer my HP luggable…..

Some don’t but most find that only Rosey Palme is available for dating.

  10. LOL, for those of you wanting good entertainment associated with Gaming advice regarding console games, I very highly recommend
    Zero Punctuation
(warning: language, sexual refs, etc., not for the prudish Amish-Baptists, or sub-fourteeners among you. Parents watch a couple first before pointing your kids to it)

Even if you don’t agree with him (I think Aaron and he disagree on Red Dead Redemption, for example, but I’d have to re-watch) you’ll enjoy the high snark level and wit, regardless.

Think of a somewhat less restrained (this isn’t broadcast TV) Simon Cowell does videogame reviews, and you’ll be fairly close. Much as Simon, he doesn’t like a lot.

  11. I think this is the first Rule 5 post I’ve ever seen on this site.

In case anyone’s not aware, that’s a reference to this:

  12. I stand corrected! BTW, Aaron, you make a great addition to this blog.

    PubliusNV (9feeea)

  13. And indeed, if you look at my own blog you will I never, ever, ever absolutely never created a rule 5 post.

  14. It’s hard to argue with RSM’s logic on his list.

And sometimes other aspects of that list help me understand other blogging developments, such as the fight picking rule.

  15. I’m reminded that on Saturday, the Instapundit posted:

“You know what’s better than women in intimate apparel? Women out of intimate apparel.”
