Gatecrashers Met Obama

Filed under: Obama — DRJ @ 4:27 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

The White House acknowledged that “the Virginia couple who attended a state dinner without an invitation met President Obama in the receiving line.”

An earlier post is here and Yahoo has a photo of the Virginia couple meeting Obama in the receiving line. (As does Hot Air, which notes they were also announced.)

I’m sure this is not the story the Obama Administration wanted its first state dinner to be remembered for, but it will be now.

  1. Change you can believe in apparently. And not very well thought out, since this same crew wants to try terrorists on US soil, under civilian law. Right?

  2. I’ll ask an embarrassingly simple question:

It was a State Dinner, not a State Cocktail Party,
where did the gate crashers sit?

At a minimun, you’d think the White House Chef or Chief Steward would have noticed the overage.

I mean, this meal wasn’t served family-style? Was it?

  4. Even Peggy Noonan at the WSJ is calling into question the competence of this White House, and this President…

  5. I made a pretty good video about the state dinner. The crashers are a fun diversion but there are issues regarding this dinner that are worth examining.

  6. Let me first state that I am no fan of Barry, but he is the Presidunce and I wish him no harm. However, for all the talk of magnetometers and anthrax-sensing equipment, it is entirely conceivable that someone could have harmed him with their bare hands. Perhaps even fatally. There are many skilled in such arts, I am definitely not one, so all this CYA harrumphing that he was never in danger is ridiculous. I expect the sous-bus area will be getting some new visitors real soon.

  7. I edited the post to add a link to a Yahoo article that has a photo of the couple meeting President Obama. The photos suggest they attended the reception in the Blue Room of the White House, but they may not have been in the pavilion/tent where the dinner was served.

  8. I agree with gazzer. A non-metal sharp instrument would work.
I also believe a trained individual can kill with two strokes in rapid succession, a downward blow on the nose/midface that causes a “LaForte 4” fracture, then a straight blow that pushes the broken facial bones back into the brain.
The “he never was in danger” is BS.

  9. Have these folks come forward? Any interview or have they lawyered up? Also how did they leave? Were they escorted out? Arrested, or did they not get discovered until after the thing ended?

  10. I don’t think they were “discovered” until they returned home and posted it on facebook.

Yes. Even Peggy Noonan…dislikes the democrat.

  14. a pencil or pen would not set off the metal detectors, and would get the j*b done, if one were so inclined.

this is nothing less than a complete failure of White House security. anyone wanna bet that the SS was overruled on one or more security issues by Ear Leader or his minions?

  15. I didn’t see it addressed in the linked articles but what, if any, charges can this couple be faced with? And if there is the possibility, would it be more likely the WH would opt to not pursue any due to the further unwanted scrutiny of their fumble?

  16. It’s probably better for the administration that we’re talking about this instead of the costs associated with a state dinner in view of our ballooning deficits and a weak economy.

  17. ABC speculates (video link) that they could face felony charges but it doesn’t specify what they might be. My guess: trespass on federal property (which might be a misdemeanor) and lying to a federal agent. There could also be other charges arising under statutes that apply to the White House.

  19. Thanks, DRJ. Do you know if the WH has the option to refuse to press charges? (It would seem they would probably like to stifle further publicity of their Secret Service fumbling this).

  20. Turns out Mr. Salahi is a higher-up in the Palestinian support lobby. Was this a test run?

Since there was extensive planning in advance for this little scam, that amounts to “conspiracy”…
last time I checked, conspiracy of anything is a felony.

  23. AD – Good point. I don’t know what they might charge but I assume it will be as long a list as they can make it.

Dana – I doubt the White House will override a Secret Service decision but neither may want this to come out. For one thing, a criminal proceeding could expose details of how the Secret Service protects the White House and the President.

    DRJ (dee47d)

  24. This calls for a Congressional hearing in camera, except that the Dems will want to leak the results to embarrass the Secret Service, and the GOP will do likewise to embarrass the White House.

    AD - RtR/OS! (5fb16f)

  25. There will be no hearings. They would naturally devolve into “do you want these guys running health care” or “and you think they can secure the border” type discussions. Not gonna happen. They are so universally incompetent it is truly frightening.

Alas! It’s all my fault. 🙁 As noted before, I left our invitations sitting unopened in the vestibule, so Mrs Pico and I didn’t see our invitations until it was too late. Clearly, Mr and Mrs Salahi took our places, and this the Chief Steward didn’t notice the count being off.

  27. Why aren’t those people in jail?

I hate to say this but Big O needs to be a little more careful. He is not as liked by the world as he thinks. A misstep like this could make Joe Bozo the POTUS (shudder).

I’m not a conspiracist but I do believe we are being probed by the enemy to see how close they can come to destroy our country.

I think we’ve long passed the “being probed” stage – we’re into the actual serious efforts now – but things are just going slower than Rahm had predicted.

  29. I’m more concerned about the incompetence of the Praetorian Guards than the couple who gate crashed. I’m sure since we’re in the time of decadence of the time of Rome, the Guard would be forced to fall on his sword and the couple fed to the Lions for our Bread and Circus, then their land would be laid to waste by order of Caesar Obaminus.

  30. Oops, I spelled Salahi wrong, but the husband gate crasher is affiliated with Pali organizations and “charities” and is being hailed on Arab websites like kabobfest.com.

We can blow it off, but those who blew Hasan’s affiliations regret it today.
