Obama’s History of Being “Angry” About Screw-Ups in His Executive Branch

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 12:11 pm

We saw recently that Obama is mad about how the feds are handling Ebola:

“It’s not tight,” a visibly angry Mr. Obama said of the response, according to people briefed on the meeting. He told aides they needed to get ahead of events and demanded a more hands-on approach, particularly from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. “He was not satisfied with the response,” a senior official said.

I thought I would review some other stuff he’s been mad about.

He was mad about the IRS Scandal:

“Americans have a right to be angry about it, and I’m angry about it,” Obama said.

“It should not matter what political stripe you’re from. The fact of the matter is, the IRS has to operate with absolute integrity,” the president said.

He was mad about the ObamaCare rollout:

“Nobody’s madder than me that the website isn’t working as it should , which means it’s going to get fixed,” he said.

He was mad about the VA scandal:

President Barack Obama is “madder than hell” about the problems facing the Department of Veterans Affairs but still supports its embattled chief, Secretary Eric Shinseki, according to the president’s chief of staff.

“Nobody is more outraged about this problem right now” than the president, said White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough in a Friday interview that aired Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

He was mad about the Secret Service fumbling on security:

The first lady was still upset when her husband arrived home five days later from Australia. The president was fuming, too, former aides said. Not only had their aides failed to immediately alert the first lady, but the Secret Service had stumbled in its response.

“When the president came back . . . then the s— really hit the fan,” said one former aide.

All these examples share one characteristic: they are screw-ups in the executive branch — for which Obama is responsible. If he wants to get mad, he should start with himself.

Instead, he tries to show how he is really on top of all this, by leaking stories about how mad he is. Big Media never seems to pick up on the pattern.

Here, we do.

Maybe you have some other examples of your own.

Because this President is going down in history as the “mad” President.

  6. But he gets over his IRS mad in less than a year:

    Feb 2, 2014:

O’REILLY: You’re saying no corruption, none?
OBAMA: There was some bone-headed decisions.
O’REILLY: Bone-headed decisions. But no mass corruption?
OBAMA: Not even mass corruption. Not even a smidgeon of corruption.

  8. I know it’s tough to believe, but perhaps a chief executive who hires people like Marie Harf or Tommy “Dude, that was like two years ago” Vietor to work in his administration in any capacity is partly to blame for any of these screw ups.

I certainly hope that Washington outsider and semi-pro golfer Barack Prom Queen Obama tears a page out of the O.J. Simpson playbook and tracks down the real Preezy and brings him to justice.

  12. I noticed that too, that he’d been angry before, and somebody leaks that he’s angry, but I didn’t realize the number of times he’d been “angry.” (somebody leaks that he’s angry)

This post is a public service, although it’s only 3 times when it comes from somebody else – not Obama – the VA scandal,. the Secret Service, and now ebola..

I’m kind of suspicious of that, but there’s probably something to it. He may be angry at the public position he’s been put in.

They call it angry anytime he mildly rebukes anybody working for him.

    Barack Obama gets angry.

“You’d think once, just once, the world’s most sophisticated leader could get back to the White House after a weekend golf vacation and find everything going smoothly, just like I had Josh Earnest tell the press it would be before jetting off on this junket.

    I just can’t figure out what’s wrong.

    Every time. Every. Single. Time.

I have to get back to Washington on a Sunday night to find out that governing is just as complicated as it was when I knocked off early on Friday to get out of town.

You know, last year when I headed off to Martha’s Vineyard I told them to straighten things out by the time I got back. The same thing happened this year. Still no action out of these no loads. Do I have to do everything around here?

After six years I’ve had enough.

I’m going to appoint a governing czar. Then I’d have somebody to blame for all this executive branch bumbling.”

  26. There something important we learned from the 2012 election. It is that the Democrats know their constituents – a large share of the American public, really – and know how to communicate with them. That’s why the “Pajama Boy” campaign for Obamacare was so shocking: Through polling, focus groups, and personal experience, the Left has figured out that Pajama Boy is a cultural archetype of young-adult males. He is who young American men have become. To the traditionalists among us, it is a horrifying thought.

These same Leftists understand that a whiny, petulant President is someone that these same constituents can relate to. A President who is angry at every turn that doesn’t go his way is someone many Americans can identify with. That’s why they trot out the “angry President” meme – it sells and, for all I know, it’s accurate.

The truly awful thing about all of this isn’t what it tells us about Obama or his handlers. The awful thing is what it tells us about the state of our culture.
