johnny dollar: Smarter Than Two of the World’s Best Blogs

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:38 am

johnny dollar catches the Huffington Post with its pants down. Here’s the Huffington Post’s amusing correction:

The Huffington Post has learned that the below video has been doctored. We regret the error and apologize to Mr. Gibson. John Gibson never compared Eric Holder to a monkey with a bright blue scrotum.

Do tell! And yet, the claim seemed so plausible when we first heard it!!

That’s one of TIME Magazine’s Best Blogs, folks. Golf clap.

Speaking of which, guess who else fell for it? I’ll give you a hint: it’s a completely implausible claim made about a right-winger. You’d have to be a hysterical nincompoop to fall for it — the type who reprints any negative claim about conservatives, no matter how ridiculous the claim sounds.

You guessed it! Another of TIME Magazine’s Best Blogs, Andrew Sullivan.

Sully has already issued a correction and removed the original language. Luckily, it remains available on the Intertubes, so I may as well present it here for posterity:

It’s also saved for you on Google here.

Too bad johnny dollar isn’t one of TIME Magazine’s Best Blogs. Then again, it appears that the key qualification for that honor is the willingness to fall for idiotic claims about conservatives — so maybe that’s company johnny doesn’t want to keep.

  5. Hey, here’s an idiotic claim: Saddam was allied with Al Qaeda.

Yet another ludicrous claim the “liberal” media swallowed hook, line and sinker.

  6. Threadjack alert! I mean, since this FoG can’t go attack Patterico too much! Time for a new topic on an unrelated thread!

  7. Hey, here’s a threadjacking!

You guys can reply if you want, but it’s like replying to a spam e-mail. If you do it, you’ll get more.

    Comment by Patterico — 2/20/2009 @ 10:19 am

  8. Hax shows what a laughingstock he has become.

The post wasn’t about the “liberal” media, it was about two very specific, left-wing blogs. (Unless you really want to claim that Huffington Post and Andrew Sullivan don’t tilt left.)

    Comment by Steverino — 2/20/2009 @ 10:20 am

  9. And besides, Patterico: he is here to win!!

Can’t you just give him some kind of award (heck, Sullivan got one!) and be done with it?

    Comment by daleyrocks — 2/20/2009 @ 10:26 am

  13. You are right, Patterico. I forgot. Conservativism left him, and Sullivan, like Justin Timberlake in “Sexyback,” is telling us all how to bring True Conservatism back.

    Or something like that.

Well, we certainly know who the serious journalists are. They settle their lawsuits. The best part is that she settled for an “apology” since the Times has no money to pay judgements.

  33. quasimodo – Good one. I forgot about that insidious little meme that the Dems used to push, in re. the “seriousness of the charges”, rather than the veracity of the charges.

  37. Maybe if Andy Sullivan spent less time on his beaver hunt than in actually watching the people he would automatically critique, he’d have much more integrity.

    Comment by eaglewingz08 — 2/20/2009 @ 3:10 pm

  38. Eglewingz, that crowd isn’t interested in integrity. Half the people who read that will believe it until their dying day. They will also hate anyone to the right og Vladimer Lenin.

Mission accomplished. The only way it could be better is if John Gibson was murdered over it.
