Hillary Clinton Loans Campaign $5M
[Guest post by DRJ]
The Politico confirms that Hillary Clinton loaned her campaign $5M last month. It may be she had to since she lost the January fund-raising race with Obama by a 2-to-1 margin.
No wonder she has tears in her eyes. I’d be weepy, too.

loaned?
ras (fc54bb) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:16 pmYes, ras, since it will be paid back by people’s donations whether or not she wins…
Just wondering if this could just be a cash flow problem, that with the beginnings of the new year, more money will flow from the same people who gave last year…
reff (99666d) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:18 pmTo think that Romney ponied up and just donated his funds to his own.
TC (1cf350) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:19 pmWell, now that’s real commitment on her part, ain’t it?
As for cash flow probs … doubt it, The Clintons are too connected and the stakes – the presidency – too high. They’ll have no trouble getting pre-orders for services … er, I mean heartfelt contributions … from any number of people.
ras (fc54bb) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:21 pmThe second Politico link says Obama took in $31M in January compared to Hillary’s $14M, and her loan was apparently made in late January. So it may be a cash flow problem but it doesn’t sound like a short-term cash flow problem.
DRJ (517d26) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:23 pmWhere’d she get 5 million dollars from?
wt (ca1cea) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:24 pmFrom where did she earn five million?
nk (4ebdf4) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:25 pmThe first link says she and Bill have an estimated net worth of $41M and possibly as much as $60M. He’s done very well since he left office.
DRJ (517d26) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:25 pmAhh, community property.
nk (4ebdf4) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:28 pmYes, community property … and Amanda Carpenter of Townhall.com wonders if it came from an foreign source:
DRJ (517d26) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:31 pmSnicker. How come McCain (and Feingold) didn’t foresee this?
nk (4ebdf4) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:35 pmIf Hillary uses that foreign money to finance her campaign she will have successfully exploited a loophole in campaign finance rules that forbids the use of foreign money in U.S. elections.”
It’s not a permissable “loophole” in campaign finance rules, if it’s laundered.
steve (334021) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:38 pmIt seems there may be reasons that Bill and Hillary do not want to release their tax returns during this election campaign.
daleyrocks (906622) — 2/6/2008 @ 1:59 pmBill & Hill didn’t give their money away “for the greater good?”
ras (fc54bb) — 2/6/2008 @ 2:04 pmLet’s just start the impeachment proceedings already. We can leave the reason blank.
Tom (ad8087) — 2/6/2008 @ 2:34 pmSorry, Tom. You can’t impeach Hillary Clinton for getting a blowjob. Hate to burst your bubble.
Leviticus (ade552) — 2/6/2008 @ 2:49 pmAllow me, Leviticus. Ahem…
HILLARY LIED!!!
Pablo (99243e) — 2/6/2008 @ 2:53 pmAs for the money, she did get that $8M book advance.
Pablo (99243e) — 2/6/2008 @ 2:54 pmAnd yet, IF she holds on she’ll probably squeek out the nomination, which is a good thing for those of us on the right.
Icy Truth (f0c2e6) — 2/6/2008 @ 3:13 pmRemember in 1992 how Bill Clinton never missed an opportunity to remind everyone that he was the lowest-paid governor in America (leaving aside, of course, the free mansion with full staff, car with driver, food, and a taxpayer-paid nanny for little Chelsea)? I wonder what Bill and Hill will say about their newfound wealth this time around, and how they will square it with their pretensions to “public service”?
JVW (b03dfa) — 2/6/2008 @ 3:32 pmI hear it came from the Sultan of Dubai, through a shell company he and Bill are part of. It was payment for investment consulting and planning so they say
RMG (3c68f0) — 2/6/2008 @ 3:56 pmThere are also some rumors about Bill helping out an oil deal involving a personal visit by him to one of the ‘stans and a $30 million donation to his Library.
SPQR (26be8b) — 2/6/2008 @ 4:01 pmEverybody donate $1.00 to Hillary. It will cost her at least $5.00 to process each $1.00 donation. Repeat a couple million times.
Perfect Sense (b6ec8c) — 2/6/2008 @ 4:06 pmAnd I bet the interest rate is really not much worse than the average credit card. Say 20%?
Stephen Macklin (f552f7) — 2/6/2008 @ 4:17 pmDemocrat and Presidential candidate Hillary (not Rodham) Clinton LOANED her campaign five million dollars.
What interest rate does this loan carry?
Thank you for your time.
The Outlander (14bd16) — 2/6/2008 @ 5:20 pmThis woman can’t even manage her millions-of-dollars campaign properly (her campaign is now in debt, see) and she wants to become President with responsibility for trillions of dollars, not to mention an expensive healthcare program? NOT!
John (99e6a5) — 2/6/2008 @ 6:52 pmHey folks haven’t you figured out these recent weeks America doesn’t care that Bill is white trash and Hillary is a vile woman?
That’s my interpretation of the throngs of people the sleeze master Bill draws and don’t you just love those adoring smiles and pats between his and her highness!!!
Jonell (e6c6e0) — 2/6/2008 @ 7:09 pmAnd since Christoph hasn’t shown up yet … when did “loan” become a verb?
nk (4ebdf4) — 2/6/2008 @ 8:39 pmA long time ago, nk. Miriam-Webster lists one of its entries as a transitive verb:
Steverino (3cbef4) — 2/6/2008 @ 10:52 pmWhat interest rate will Hillary CLINTON pay her self back for $5 Million dollar loan? Does that $5 Million dollar loan get repaid by those who DONATE to Hillary? Shouldn’t Hillary DONATE that money as she has requested others to DONATE to her? And, is the interest rate being paid back to her for the loan she gave herself, coming out of the supporters pockets? How is that FAIR to the MIDDLE CLASS?
I also read The Politico recently reported that Bill Clinton has “implied that he would not use his own funds to support his wife’s candidacy,”
deb (101344) — 2/7/2008 @ 11:11 amThe solution is simple, deb. Don’t donate to to Hillary’s campaign to help it pay off the debt. She can keep that promissory note until she dies.
nk (4ebdf4) — 2/7/2008 @ 11:19 amIt’s an investment. She figures she’ll make double or triple that amount if she makes it to the White House.
I am getting seriously tired of rich politicians telling me they understand the modern poor. NO. YOU. DON’T.
SHUT. THE. FUCK. UP. If you can loan your wife’s campaign $5 million at the drop of a hat, you need to stop talking about your dirt-farmer upbringing. “I feel your pain”, my ass.
And if you can pump $40 million into your own campaign and then “suspend” it without going postal… well, then you are way too rich, and I hate you even more.
Leviticus (35fbde) — 2/7/2008 @ 11:43 amNot only did Hillary oppose the passage of the Civil Rights Act, for which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his life (as a Goldwater Girl, Hillary was against Lyndon B. Johnson, the president she credits for Dr. King getting to the mountaintop), Senator Clinton was also the first presidential hopeful to invoke the memory of 9-11 during her loosely paraphrased speech, taken from the base of the Statue of Liberty, on Super Tuesday.
Hillary’s Clinton’s interpretation of the events of 9-11 parallels that of her Civil Rights stance(s). “Help Make History! Paid for by Hillary Clinton for President.” Now Lady Liberty says she’s loaned herself $5 million dollars, of which she asks only $3 million from you in return, in three days. Arthur Anderson to do the accounting. But I remember Hillary’s last invitation to help make history; the call came in California, in 1995; and we’re still paying the price: http://theseedsof9-11.com
My 2 cents: Hillary Clinton, always feathering her own nest, always on the wrong side of history. Ps. Send me all your money, that I may grant you protection from those greedy old Republicans – just don’t ask any questions. What are you waiting for? Yours always, Hillary
Peggy McGilligan (de1c49) — 2/7/2008 @ 10:11 pmExactly what point is “too rich”? And why should you hate someone who’s rich, assuming he came by his wealth honestly?
Steverino (3cbef4) — 2/8/2008 @ 5:59 amI think someone should investigate the source of these funds. I am certain that Hillary did something ultra vires here like get $5million into her bank account from somebody who is a deep pocket and then siphon that money to her campaign. We need proof that it is HER money, that there are loan documents; that the campaign is paying interest and that the campaign pays it back promptly. Otherwise, its an unfaid advanatge and perhaps not legal. Thos Clintons — really — what will they stop at?
Pinguino (d671ab) — 2/8/2008 @ 9:31 am“Exactly what point is “too rich”? And why should you hate someone who’s rich, assuming he came by his wealth honestly?”
-Steverino
Exactly what is “honestly”?
Leviticus (8545d8) — 2/8/2008 @ 2:33 pmHey Levi, what are you going to say when Bloomberg enters as an independent with a $100M+ warchest of his money – no donations required?
Another Drew (a28ef4) — 2/8/2008 @ 3:09 pmBut, will that be OK because he’s a Progressive Independent (I’ll let you characterize the Clintons)?
Just out of curiosity. How would you like it if you were up for a promotion? Big Promotion….Big Pay Raise!!!You had proved yourself over and over and over again. But another guy came along who talked a better talk than you but at the same time wasn’t half as qualified as you but was receiving the promotion because they talked a good game. Or better yet, what if this person got the promotion based on the color of their skin. Is this discrimination? We all know that talk is cheap. 2 years in the Illinois senate seat warrants a bid a the white house…Right!!!How many people do you know that talk the talk but whenever its time to walk the walk for whatever reason the talk goes out the window. If you are wondering where I’m going with this, I might as well tell you. Barack isn’t half as qualified for the promotion to President but because he talks a good game and delivers speeches that someone else has wrote for him. He’s the black man’s savior. 83% Nationwide vote. Whenever you get an opportunity watch the Great Debate by Denzel. A HARPO production. Baracks speeches equal an “A” in speech 101. I have nothing against him. But I hate to say it but Most blacks are low income people. Most don’t even have a computer. Few blacks research Barack and know very little about him. All they know is what they see on T.V. A Black face who makes great speeches. He doesn’t write those speeches. As I said before talk is cheap. Switch places for one second if you can. Just say you’re the more qualified person. And you’re up fro promotion. He’s scared to Debate her. Recently refused to debate her over the next four weeks. The proof is in the pudding right. Last time I checked even if you date back to school days. If someone said meet Me outside after school punk. The only reason you would be intimidated is because you knew there was a strong challenge. But you didn’t back out. Win or Lose, you were there. “meet me outside after school punk”…smile..I stayed after school in Mrs Bolden class one day and pretended to sew…when someone made the threat to me….smile….Right now if Tyson challenged Holyfield to a fight. You can bet your last dollar a date would be scheduled. Now Lets take It to another level. Remember back in the days of slavery. Which slave was in the house. The slave that looked like Barack. Correct me if I’m wrong but not even Will smith with his fair complexion would be allowed in the house. While Barack is in the house serving lemonade while field hands outside working. So what about the struggles of a working slave, outside in the fields all day. He wasn’t out there, he wasn’t here for the struggles. He earned $891, 000 last year. So I ask you again. He doesn’t play basketball or rap. What struggles ? So why does he receive the field hands vote. He’s barely even American, from Honolulu raised in Indonesia and he doesn’t represent the struggles we’ve faced as black people in this country. Remember Roots, remember MLK, remember Rosa Parks and the back of the bus, don’t drink from this water fountain. Howbout this one for you…Remember The color Purple and when Sophia punched the man uptown. He doesn’t represent the struggles we’ve faced as Blacks here in America. But he’s receiving credit for it. Isn’t this thinking to vote for him because he’s African American reverse discrimination.
I thought we we’re done with this error.
Especially considering that he wasnt even here during the struggle…”A’ in speech 101 for Barack Obama
Sincerely: Concerned African American
robert hood (265e0e) — 2/9/2008 @ 12:56 amHillary claims she will solve America’s financial problems, then borrows money from her husband to cover campaign overruns.

Can my future campaign donations be considered a loan?
kalola (d19873) — 5/8/2008 @ 9:48 amDon’t forget Hillary as “Lady of the White House” and her exploitation of the Lincoln Bedroom.
Don V. (01e126) — 5/11/2008 @ 8:25 amI WANT TO FIX HILLARY CLINTON FOR STAYING WITH BILL WHEN SHE SHOULD HAVE DIVORCED HIM OVER:
frank tells (6609bf) — 6/5/2008 @ 5:39 pm1. HIS ANTIMASTURBATION
2. HIS CHEATING ADULTERY
ALSO IM AGAINST HER NOT LISTENING TO ME ABOUT VOTING AGAINST THE ANTI POKER BILL (PHONE CALLS, LETTERS) AND RECEIVING FUNDING FROM HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANIES WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY OVERCHARGING AND AGE DISCRIMINATING. I ALSO BELIEVE LIKE JOE LIEBERMAN THAT BILL CLINTON SHOULD HAVE BEEN IMPEACHED AFTER ILLEGALLY CHEATING ON HIS WIFE.
I suppose your broken caps lock key is also Hillary Clinton’s fault, frank?
SPQR (26be8b) — 6/5/2008 @ 6:10 pmCan I get a hit of that, frank?
