You Decide: Tea Party Racism?

Filed under: Politics — DRJ @ 12:03 am

[Guest post by DRJ]

Clark Baker links interesting interviews from the Tax Day Tea Party event in Washington, D.C. Here’s one of several good quotes:

“Nobody is afraid of the President, for any reason. The color of his skin is not a reason for people to fear him. What we fear is loss of liberty. What we fear is our rights being taken away. If he’s coming on into the White House with a progressive agenda trying to push socialism on us, that is taking away our freedom and eliminating what the United States was founded on.”

  1. It is unfortunate that a Tea-Partyer would feel the need to include a racism disclaimer when objecting to the president’s policies. One might conclude that it has been the constant barrage of racism accusations from Obama’s leftist supporters that has precipitated this.

  2. There was a different one a few weeks ago that was also moving:

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/15/AR2010041503344_2.html

“Johnson expressed opposition to Obama. “It’s not just because he’s black,” he said. “I wish I could tell you that I loved this guy, that he was a great president, that I had faith in him. But I have none. Zero.””

  3. If Obama was white the opposition to his policies would be triple or quadruple what the TEA Party has been able to mobilize so far.

Racism is what’s protecting Obama from being exposed for the corrupt fraud he so obviously is. No other man could tell Obama’s lies and expect not to be hounded from office.

Racism is the mother’s milk of the Democrat Party.

  5. If the Democrats didn’t have racism, they’d have to rely on all those other ‘isms they work so hard to keep out of public view.

As are MALDEF, La Raza, and a whole slew of civil rights attorneys.

In other guilt-by-association news, ACORN head honchette Bertha Lewis denounces the tea party “bowel movement” and endorses socialism.

  11. “As are MALDEF, La Raza, and a whole slew of civil rights attorneys.”

MALDEF wanted a veto. Do I have to check La Raza to see if you’re lying about them too?

The bill does allow xenophobes to get compensated for suing police departments that arent harassing enough brown people. So there are some attorneys that are happy.

It’s win win really for the nativists. They get to have their nativistgasm now, and get to again revel in their majoritarian victimhood when a “whole slew of civil rights attorneys” fights and knocks down this crap.

  12. Lefties aren’t selective in that respect, Dmac. They just blow.

BTW, L.N., it was interesting to read that Bertha Lewis is finally owning up to being a socialist, despite past repeated denials.

  14. You know what, imdw, there are some of us here who actually have “brown skin” who take offense at your continual using it just so you can manipulatively attempt to pass judgment on those who support this bill. You spent yesterday doing that and continue with it today. And all it is is you putting your personal twist on traditional racist tactics to try to underhandedly win a debate, just like your continual coupling of “xenophobes” and “brown skin” in your comments (yesterday and today).

Of course your intent is to provoke, and you have. And if you take satisfaction or pleasure in thinking that using this tactic has given you a win – no matter how self-centered and dishonest that tactic may be – that’s also your prerogative. Ironically though, what it has solidified in me is a complete lack of respect for you. Your behavior is dishonest, manipulative, disingenuous, and self-serving. If you had the backbone to actually be honest in your arguments – whether I agree with you or not – I would have some respect for you. But it’s the painfully obvious manipulative dishonesty of your debate that has sunk your ship in my eyes. Heh – Brown eyes, that is.

  15. I should have posted my #14 comment at the Arizona Governor Signs Immigration Bill post (because I wrote “pass judgment on those who support this bill.” in re to that post). However the general point of my comment clearly works here just as well.

  16. “The bill does allow xenophobes to get compensated for suing police departments”

imdw – Are only xenophobes allowed to sue police departments? How do you prove that you are a xenophobe? Can conservatives sue as well?

  17. imdw – Chris Matthews could only forget that Obama was black for an hour. Do not try to pawn off any crap here about the Democrats not being completely obsessed with race.

    daleyrocks (1d0d98)

  18. It doesn’t say it’s only xenophobes. But they will have the incentive.

  19. It’s a sad day when some “Americans” demand that apologies be made for enforcing the law.

  20. MALDEF wanted a veto. Do I have to check La Raza to see if you’re lying about them too?

They’re happy as it now allows them to demagogue the law, raise funds and add to their membership. It is obvious that real politik escapes you.

    Horatio (e2e328)

  21. You think MALDEF is playing at ‘realpolitik’ here? What kind of influence were they tossing at this law? Yes they can organize against it, but the goal is to defeat it.

  22. Apology, imdw? What was the link again?

Thank you for the correction of “realpolitik” That’s the first thing you’ve posted that is accurate.

Yes, MALDEF, and all organizations that depend upon rabble rousing play realpolitik. The goal is to make leomonade out of lemons, raise money add members, hire attorneys to sue AZ (where I reside), and generally get in the face of authorities wherever possible to promote their open borders policies. They will take the plays straight from Alinsky, demonize their enemies (Arpaio comes to mind) and generally do whatever they can to win – in the long run.

Ok for a second there I thought you were arguing that they didn’t want to win and knock out this bill.

  29. Let me guess, daleyrocks. Racist wingnut birther teabaggers and something about ACORN, since he came here from BradBlog.

  30. we already know they are racist, so you can save the made up quotes.

  31. I will reprise my remark to aphrael on this legislation, that the Lib/Left/Prog reaction to AZ’s attempt to take control of their streets, is the same hysteria that these groups demonstrate over Concealed Carry…
“The streets will run red with the blood of innocents”…”There will be racial profiling/unconstitutional search & seizure/deprivation of civil rights/etc”

These are people who take every opportunity to excuse law-breaking, and resist the imposition of sovereignty by this country over our own borders.

    Prediction:
    There will be no wide-spread, if any, civil-rights violations;
    There will be a few local govt’s that will be sued by their own residents over less than half-hearted enforcement of this law, and the subsequent defeat of the offending elected officials at the ballot-box;
The Inside-the-Beltway denizens will have the appropriate vapors, but will do nothing substantial to improve the situation along the Southern Border.

  35. Attempted guilt-by-association. Find a sign or a quote that is racist – all those in that group must, too, be racists.

What is truly funny is that imdw is a guilty of prejudice by his/her very words; and yet is too ignorant to recognize it.
