Who will prevail in the last 9 holes at Augusta? Choi, Mickelson, Westwood … or a struggling Tiger Woods.

UPDATE: Did you “Win with Phil”? You did if you bought a qualifying Callaway driver between March 12 and April 7. Golfsmith promised to refund the price of purchase if Mickelson won the Masters. The Austin American-Statesman reports Austin-based Golfsmith purchased an insurance policy to cover the cost of the promotion, which is estimated to cost about $1 million.

  1. After that last shot from behind the tree..I’m betting on Mickelson……..

  2. Go Phil

  3. Ouch, did you see when they came back from commercial and showed Mickelson hugging his wife Amy while Jim Nantz droned on about “how wonderful it is to have someone special to share in your victory.” Was that a subtle dig at Tiger?

  4. No, Tiger has someone special to share in every one of his victories – himself.

  5. I frankly thought Mickelson should have let his wife come up for air–just kidding. But this is a tough year for the Mickelson family, and I suppose he and his wife might be worried that she won’t be around to share too many more golf major victories with him. Which is really only an issue for families like the Mickelsons and the Woods–because umptyzillion other golf families will never win a big golf tournament.

  6. Nice win by Mickelson and well deserved.

Perhaps the most peculiar comment by Woods this week was comparing his personal adversities in returning to the game to those experienced by the great Ben Hogan. The circumstances, of course, were different.

Tiger needs to be smacked down a bit. Everyone in golf from the players to the reporters know that he is their meal ticket. They treat him with kid gloves.

  8. That Tiger’s Dad’s Ghost Buy Nike commercial was just plain slimy and asinine.

I’m so glad this tournament, and the millions of watchers, got to see genuine love and wholesomeness. A lot of people watched hoping to see Tiger wipe the floor with the people who think he’s a loser. Instead, they know damn well everyone was comparing what good people have to what Tiger has.

I know Phil and his wife aren’t perfect people, but we need more imagery of goodness. I hope that couple sees many more wins.

  9. Phil’s shot on 13 was one of the greatest shots in the entire history of golf, given the time and circumstance. Wow. Just wow. I have a feeling we will not see Tiger again until the US Open, and I would not be against him. Anyone who can struggle with every club in his bag and still finish 4th … Oh, and Anthony Kim was on freaking fire.
