7. It’s 16.5 million grams (roughly one line for every man, woman and child in the US…)

   I dunno what a gram of flake goes for on the street nowadays, but once upon a time it was around $100.

   That would put the value well over $1B.

   And I imagine they adulterate the stuff after importing it, so when it’s cut you can multiply that by at least a few.

8. An ounce was $2,000 when I defended an “ounce dealer”, and that was a while ago. I never had a kilo dealer, so I don’t know what the wholesale discount for larger amounts is.

10. This helpful page lists the price of a kilo in various cities.

    It says about $33K/kilo for Philadelphia. So that’s ~$1k/ounce. Seems plausible.

    The listed price in SoCal is about half that.

    But “this amount of cocaine could kill millions” seems overwrought. I mean, sure it could, but then the amount of .30S&W ammunition in guns shops could ALSO kill millions. But won’t.

15. That is a great song, nk.

    I know most of it by heart. This morning I tried to pass it off to my daughter as country-rap, like Old Town Road, but she wasn’t buying it. She said “It’s country”. We did get into a discussion about company towns and company stores, and Carnegie, Rockefeller, The Gospel Of Wealth, and the hypocrisy thereof, though.
