Meanwhile, Back in Bubbaland

Filed under: General — JVW @ 3:33 pm

[guest post by JVW]

Our embattled front-runner’s husband really isn’t one for self-awareness is he?

Bill Clinton gives a warm welcome to Russian punk band Pussy Riot.

Might as well let loose with the double entendres in the comments section.

we’d still need a public that could read for content and think critically.

the last 30 years of public education has made that unattainable.

The sad part is that the opposition bought that load of horse manure.
If Hil’s number went up everytime Monica was mentioned, Hillary would have put her on staff.

I think it’s 85%. But some of the remaining 15% is influence peddling too – contracts

Also the overhead includes salaries for people close to the Clintons.

  47. Like the 990 that’s on Page 22 of this pdf? http://www.clintonfoundation.org/files/clinton_foundation_report_public_9-10-13.pdf App $51.5 million in contributions received, with payouts of $18.4 million in salaries, $32 million in “other expenses”, and $8.01 million in grants? Even if it’s only 85% that sticks to the Foundation’s fingers, my main point is correct. The Clintons have a foundation for laundering bribes that they, their family, and their lackeys use to live on. They pay out a miserable pittance to “charity” to keep up their front. (Even if you count such things as the expense of bringing over the Russian lesbians as “charity”.)

    nk (dbc370)

  48. I’d love it if our intrepid media would track down a few of the generous donors to the Clinton Foundation to interview and to determine what particular parts of the charity’s work most appealed to these contributors and made them want to be a part of the global initiative. You know, a nice little international human interest story.

    Further on that point:

    http://www.thediplomad.com/2015/03/the-clintons-same-old-tricks.html

Almost three years ago, I wrote that Hillary Clinton,

has taken the opportunities that fell into her lap, e.g., her playboy husband became Governor of Arkansas and then President, and ably used them to advantage, e.g., a Senate seat, almost the Presidency, and now SecState. As the First Lady of Arkansas, she played the role required of her: she laundered bribes for her husband. That is what Whitewater was about. That was her role at the Rose Law Firm: she would collect and launder the payoffs. She “made” a fortune in cattle futures, right? OK, when will you pay me for that bridge? (Note: The GOP was too stupid to explain the Whitewater affair, and accepted the media line that it was “too complicated” for the public to understand. My Foreign Service friends and I who had spent years in places where that was the role of the First Lady figured it out instantly.)

It, therefore, came as no surprise to see Whitewater on steroids happen, again. This time, however, we see Bill Clinton acting as the bag man…

Although the purpose of this Potemkin charity wasn’t merely to finance the Clinton’s luxurious jet-setting lifestyle. It was also to keep the core of the Clintoon political machine on retainer between campaigns.

  50. I can imagine the Sauds hearing “Pussy Riot” and nodding wisely: “It is indeed difficult to keep peace in the harem.”

    nk (dbc370)

  51. nk, you really shouldn’t link that report, other than as an example of your inability to read financials.

I’m no defender of the Clintons, but the foundation does good work, and your lack of understanding of their disclosures doesn’t undo that.

  52. New Clinton Foundation Chief Blocked Conservative Women From Forming Group As University President

The outgoing University of Miami president tapped to head the Clinton Foundation once tried to block a conservative group founded by four female students from organizing on campus.

Donna Shalala, who also served as former President Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Health and Human Services, was recently hand-picked to take over as CEO of the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to global health and to improving health and wellness for women and girls.

    Good works?

    papertiger (c2d6da)

  53. re #49: okay carlitos , i’m game.
1st, and seriously, what “good work” does the Clinton Foundation do that would not have ben done without using existing Democratic/Progressive/Liberal charitable foundations?
ie: what justifies the costs of administrating yet another foundation?

2nd: what percentage of donations is going to the actual charitable cause?

3rd: how do the salaries and expenses compare to other foundations of similar size in grant giving?

    seeRpea (b6bbec)

  54. carlitos, when I see contributions roughly equal to salaries and “other expenses” I will take your serious explanation of those figures seriously. Your “you don’t know how to read, nk” not so seriously.

    nk (dbc370)

  55. 1st, and seriously, what “good work” does the Clinton Foundation do that would not have ben done without using existing Democratic/Progressive/Liberal charitable foundations?
ie: what justifies the costs of administrating yet another foundation?

You’re moving the goalposts. I didn’t say that the good works wouldn’t happen without other foundations. The work in Haiti, maybe though; that was a personal topic for Bill.

I don’t have time to go through this, but all of the info is in the 990. They are also operating from endowments, so it’s not just spending vs. income. And almost all of the “salary” is going to operations, not to executives.

    carlitos (c24ed5)

  56. F*ck me!
    I LOVE that pic!
Clinton stepping up to the podium all, “Hey, it’s me!” and Obama thinking, “F*ck me, it’s him.”
