Deranged Cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt Taken Apart by Ken White of Popehat in The First of a Series

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 4:21 am

In an excellent poat titled True Threats, True Incitement, Or Truly Crazy? The Rhetoric of Deranged Cyberstalker Bill Schmalfeldt, Ken White examines the violent rhetoric of Kimberlin and Rauhauser supporter (and deranged cyberstalker) Bill Schmalfeldt. Ken promises a multi-part series on Schmalfeldt’a rhetoric, and I plan to stay tuned for every installment.

Ken’s first entry focuses on a blog post wherein Schmalfeldt gleefully fantasized in loving detail about the death of Ken and myself. Ken quotes Schmalfeldt’s post at length, and I will do so here as well. Please note that the following passage was prefaced by Schmalfeldt providing detailed information about where Ken and I could be located.

I say that unless someone is dragging @Popehat……and Frey OUT OF THEIR OFFICES and BREAKING THEIR KNEES WITH BASEBALL BATS because of this, then there is nothing for them to worry about. Words are just words, and they cannot harm you. “Sticks and stones,” as they say.

Or, baseball bats.

And let it NOT be said that the Liberal Grouch advocates anyone using baseball bats to break the kneecaps of either Mr. White or Mr. Frey! Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, if you have it in your mind that if Nadia Naffe were a friend of yours and some scumbag attorney used the powers of his office to dig up and use private information against her, whoever did it (or defends him) DESERVES to have their knees broken with baseball bats, let me dissuade you of that notion here and now.

That is not what baseball bats were made for.

For one thing, a wooden bat could break if it were used in such a reckless and lawless fashion. And if you think you can get around that by using an aluminum bat, guess again. An aluminum bat (unless it is reinforced with a lead center) would likely bend under such pressure. Now, I hear the crafty ones out there saying, “Yeah? Well, what if I drill out the center of a WOODEN baseball bat, fill IT with lead, cover the tip with Plastic Wood? Wouldn’t THAT do the job?”

Again, I say, you are wasting your time with all that effort. Tire irons are much more readily available.

And I am NOT saying that Patrick Frey and Kenneth White deserve to be dragged from their offices, out to the street in front of their offices, and thus have their knees broken by ANYTHING, be it a tire iron, or a lead pipe, or a lead-filled baseball bat. Nor should they be taken by a group of four or five strong men (or women) and thrown in front of a moving truck. You would have to consider the emotional damage that would be done to the innocent truck driver, unless the truck driver agrees to be part of your conspiracy in the first place. And a truck might swerve to miss Mr. Frey and/or Mr. White, the driver could lose control, jackknife his trailer and cause a lot of damage to people and property. And if it’s a truck with a hazardous payload, like sulfuric acid, I don’t think I need to tell YOU how severe the environmental damage would be.

So, NO! Do NOT hit Mr. Frey and/or Mr. White with baseball bats or lead pipes or tire irons on their knees, arms, elbows, shins, or any other parts of their bodies. It would be painful and degrading, moreso to you as an outraged, but otherwise law-abiding citizen. It would ruin your life. If the authorities caught you. And if they did, if they pressed charges. I understand in some communities, the authorities tend to turn a blind eye to bullies getting their deserved comeuppance. I don’t think Los Angeles is such a community.

So, let’s leave things as they are. Let Mr. Frey and Mr. White FEEL they are being retaliated against in a war of words they started and are being smeared with feces being hurled back at them after being first hurled BY them. Let yourself not be dragged down to the Neanderthal level of a Mr. Frey or a Mr. White (or a Mr. R. Stacy McCain or a Mr. Lee Stranahan or a Mr. Ali Akbar or a Mr. Aaron Worthing) and degrade yourself by using brute force to punish them for their many, many alleged (by me) crimes against nature and humanity.

Know that the sternest punishment one can legally employ against such blackguards is the sure and certain knowledge that when they awake in the morning, they will still be…

Them.

And let God deal with their sins. As He will. Probably with sores and painful boils. On their faces.

Ken explains what Schmalfeldt is up to here:

Schmalfeldt is engaged in apophasis, the rhetorical device of saying something by asserting you are not saying it. The disclaimer at the end is tepid, like most of his writing — the meat and heat of it is in his fervid imaginings of violence against us. It’s perfectly possible to frame a threat as a non-threat. What Schmalfeldt is doing is like me saying “I am not saying that you should go to the home of Political Enemy Paul at [address] and crouch in the hedge outside his front door and beat him with a pipe when he exits his house, because you could get your clothes dirty.”

I agree with Ken’s assessment that this little fantasy would not likely result in criminal sanctions, although Schmalfeldt’s clear intent is to threaten Ken and myself. Ken notes that Schmalfeldt treats even relatively mild criticism of himself as incitement to violence — meaning, of course, that Schmalfeldt clearly views his own far more violent speech as an even more serious incitement. Schmalfeldt’s clearly evil intent aside, Ken did not report this post to law enforcement and neither did I.

Indeed, I didn’t even bother writing about it at the time. Schmalfeldt’s post was published several months ago, and although I was aware of it, it was nothing new. Anyone who has ever criticized Brett Kimberlin tends to be the target of this kind of harassment, and I don’t generally react to it. Just because you don’t see me writing about it, don’t assume the harassment has stopped. It never does.

And don’t assume this is the worst, either. While I didn’t report this, I did report a comment by a member of this crew which was of a threatening nature directed towards my wife and children.

Read all of Ken’s post, and marvel at the depths that some people sink to. Ken really does a masterful job of sorting it all out.

  2. Is it possible that discussing (however negative that discussion may be) this disgusting person is playing into their desire for attention?

I hear; “mommy, mommy look at me” in just about everything this bloated bloviating bovine spews from his alimentary canal.

The opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s disdain and indifference. Of course that’s much harder to blog about (impossible I would guess) so as to inform and enlighten the ignorant about this miscreant’s antics.

Not being critical about your choice of topics but with Stacy wailing away at this pathetic mental pipsqueak seemingly on a daily basis, it’s become tiresome and downright nauseating to hear updates on the daily pathetic whining’s and borderline criminal threats, to say the least.

At least you don’t show candid pictures of the steamy pile of flesh that he calls his body.

I know, I know, I can just go elsewhere if I’m not pleased but I would rather see you put your talents and bandwidth to better use.

Now if all this managed to shut him up and freeze him out then that would be a plus but somehow I get the feeling that only his assuming room temperature would cause his pitiful maunderings and threats to stop.

  3. Schmalfeldt rushed a post up trying to deflect Ken’s criticisms of him. He attempts to portray Ken’s post as satire because, in Schmalfeldt’s mind, no one could possibly think that Schmalfeldt has ever done, said, or written anything bad. He is still trying to convince people that the post that got him booted from the Daily Kos (the first time) was satire and it’s only because people don’t recognize his genius that they objected to his violent rape fantasy.

  4. Ken’s post is great.

Isn’t Liberal Grouch someone you said a while back not to visit without a proxy because he’s in the habit of stalking people or passing their info on to Brett Kimberlin to stalk people? Or was that BK whose site you said to use a proxy to visit, and I’m conflating the two because LG was also involved somehow at the time? Or was it both?

I remember reading a couple LG articles at that time and while I don’t remember what they were about, he was clever in a way and didn’t seem completely insane. Which, of course, is yet more reason to believe he deliberately intended to intimidate with these thinly-veiled threats.

  8. Gee, I wonder how the Secret Service would react if a conservative blogger published exactly the same thing, except with President Obama and Attorney General Holder as the subjects. How would the mass media react if a prominent conservative blogger published exactly the same thing, except with Revs. Jackson & Sharpton as the subjects?

  9. Cabin Boy is a very ill, mentally ill, person.

But his association with violent, dangerous criminals makes his threats very real, a small disagreement that I have with Ken’s fine analysis.

It’s not like I am blogging in reaction to Schmalfeldt. His post was written months ago. I am blogging in reaction to Ken’s excellent post. See the difference?

I remember reading this point somewhere, but I thought it was in relation to BreitbartUnmasked. I thought BK even said BU was crazy at some point. I’m not sure if this is the true nor am I sure who runs BU. In any case, one should use a proxy when visiting any of these people and be careful as to what links are clicked.

  14. Ah I see.

So this post is an encomium to KEN.

    My mistake.

And I guess that “sunlight is an excellent disinfectant” holds true here also.

I don’t usually complain about topics to anyone (hey it’s your venue, I’m just a voyeur) but lately it seems I’m reading about this disgusting troll more than I wish. He gives mentally defective people a bad name.

  18. That is a devastating takedown. The fact that Ken ultimately concludes that Schmalfeldt’s baseball-bat screed is probably NOT illegal only adds to the rhetorical power of the takedown.

It’s not entirely an encomium to Ken (not sure if you we’re being sarcastic to say it was) but it was prompted by Ken’s post and not Schmalfeldt’s as the timing makes clear.

You act as though I blog about him every day. Which I do not. If the post upsets you, for whatever reason, feel free to move on to the next one.

In my perfect world, teh Schmalputzes, rauhausers, kimberlins and their ilk that continue to waste our oxygen would spend 20 hours of each day running in large hamster wheel-like contraptions that would generate electricity to power the computers and portable devices of those they must serve, i.e., the rest of humanity.

His legal work for Patterico was in a class of its own… if you’ve read the motions from all sides throughout the difference is huge.

    —-

As far as whether we should ignore trolls… I agree to some extent, but it is very good for those with a huge audience to note what’s going on once in a while. There are a lot of folks with little to no audience who can’t do that. They then have no where to point when their boss gets that call from the bad guys. It is very helpful to be able to pull out a copy of Citizen K, email a hyperlink to a few reputable sources, and then explain the whole story. Remember, the bad guys routinely delete their thuggery, making it very difficult to point to unless it was soberly discussed elsewhere.

When the troll escalates to ‘I will ruin your life if you say something I don’t like’ it is time for a few people to try to defend free speech.

  28. “It is very helpful to be able to pull out a copy of Citizen K, email a hyperlink to a few reputable sources, and then explain the whole story.”

Dustin – I agree. Understanding who the pint-sized, perjurer, pot purveying, parole violating, progressive propaganda peddling pedophile is along with his affiliated band of sociopaths is important.

  33. Beldar

respectfully, just ignoring it doesn’t make the problem go away. Bluntly, i believe he is paid to do this, and kimberlin is one seriously obsessed f—.

i still live about forty minutes away from this whackadoo, and his wife lives even closer, though she is trying to escape. ignoring these idiots is not an option for either of us.

This won’t end until Brett is in jail and Tetyana Kimberlin has the kids. Then i can safely ignore him.

    Aaron

    Aaron "Worthing" Walker (23789b)

  34. Mr. Worthing it’s more like someone studiously studied similar sounds so stating stuff suchly should suggest sagacious statements

but really he’s just using words what all start with the same letter

    it’s a trick

  36. It’s a melodic mnemonic device, designed in preliterate Europe to enable poets to recite lengthy epics, and when used judicialy, or subtly by for example placing the alliteration in the second letter, it can be a rhetorical device as well.

  37. And I know you’re thinking “assonance” because I am and great minds think alike.

    nk (875f57)

  38. Something I’ve noticed in my adventures is that many mental subjects are “pint sized”, to use Daleyrocks’s term. They are not just short, but scrawny.

I believe that our lower impulses, such as ego and rage and greed, are easily developed and exist even in many animals that rut about in the mud, barely sentient. I also believe that our more elevated impulses like reason and morality require a more developed brain. While some say sociopaths are often geniuses, in my experience they are paranoid idiots who can’t hold a job or drive across town without freaking out about something.

I guess this is a chicken or egg issue. Was it the mind that caused the body to wither (or thrive) or vice versa?

but it makes me wonder if iodized salt is responsible for the drop in crime over the past generation. It also makes me wonder if the link between poverty and crime, or the link between having two parents raise a child and crime, is partly an epigenetic matter of making sure a child is well cared for as their brain grows.

I hope I’m not offending any tiny people. Please don’t cut me.

    Dustin (303dca)

  40. You left off the best sentence in Ken’s post, where he discussed the likelihood that Schmalfeldt’s incitement could result in actual violence:

“Bill’s few true believer followers could pose a threat, I guess, but most of them seem the sort who will have trouble coming to get me because they left their bus pass in their sweat pants again and their mother put it through the wash.”

Aaron (#33 — 8/7/2013 @ 11:11 pm): I wasn’t addressing your situation, but rather the post by Schmalfeldt in particular, and more generally the category of internet harassment that our host, Mr. Frey, referenced as something we shouldn’t assume isn’t happening even though he chooses not to write about all of it.

In other words, I was endorsing his decision not to write about that which he has chosen not to write about.

My comments here imply nothing about you or your family or your situation.

Someone is sending prank calls about the California Amber Alert for Hannah Anderson, and it sounds like it could be an elaborate hack or spoof of a truck driver’s cell phone (although it could have been the truck driver). The result is a major traffic disruption on a Nevada interstate and big trouble for the truck driver.

When will law enforcement treat these acts as crimes instead of pranks?
