Weiner Doesn’t Even Hide Fact He Is Lying Any More

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:59 am

Yesterday:

Anthony Weiner is finally fessing up to his Danger-ous ways.

After pretending he didn’t know who Carlos Danger was, Weiner has finally owned the online moniker he gave himself while continuing to have racy online relationships with women after his 2011 resignation.

During an interview this morning with Spanish-language Univision, Weiner was asked by the gorgeous Latin anchor why he picked the pen name.

“You picked the pseudonym Carlos Danger to hold these conversations of sexual content online. Why did you pick a Hispanic name and how dangerous were you really?” she asked with a straight face.

Weiner answered with equal seriousness.

“It was a joke in my personal life between me and one person. I’m not going comment about the information,” he said, adding that he doesn’t care what his ex-sexters say about him.

July 23:

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner may be owning up to his latest sex-messaging scandal. But his alleged secret online handle? Not quite.

Mr. Weiner dodged a question tonight about the name he reportedly ascribed to himself while engaging in his most recent explicit online chatting sessions: “Carlos Danger.”

Politicker asked Mr. Weiner why he chose the moniker as he was exiting a mayoral forum on HIV/AIDS following a dramatic press conference during which he admitted to engaging in lewd online conversations more than a year after his resignation, and after proclaiming himself a different person in People magazine.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Mr. Weiner responded, before being rushed out of the room through a private exit, trailed by a gaggle of press.

Yeah, I lied. So what? Stop focusing on little things like my lying to the press and let’s talk about the things that really matter to New Yorkers. Besides, lying shows I’m tough, and New Yorkers want someone who is tough.

Psycho.

  1. This could mean that at least he recognizes that he’s passed the diminishing-returns threshold on trying to hide it. Better the devil you know, and all that.

Of course, from this point his campaign will have to go into full-bore scorched-earth “But The Other Guy’s Worse” mode.

Which, well … yeah, good luck with that, Tony.

  3. The NY Post is no supporter of weiner, but yesterday they ran a puff piece on Huma’s behalf explaining how she really only stayed with him for the sake of their young son and how she partly blames herself for her husband’s problems. This information was no doubt orchestrated by Huma herself and carefully filtered to the media through her friends and political allies.

I mention this only because I think every post that points out what a vile, lying weasel Anthony weiner is should also mention the culpability of his mendacious, phony wife.

    JVW (23867e)

  4. JVW: your link doesn’t work. As for how Mrs Weiner would be “partly” at fault for her husband’s behavior, is she saying that she isn’t taking care of his “needs?”

The Dana back from vacation (af9ec3)

  5. Full link appended above. Huma’s alleged mistake was that after the baby was born, she paid way too much attention to the needy little infant in the house and not enough attention to the needy big infant in the house.

    JVW (23867e)

  6. I must say, I am really impressed with how Huma and her people have spun this. I wondered how in the world they would be able to counter the perception that she was just a enabler who was seeking to feather her own political nest, just as willing to live the lie as her sleazy husband. It looks like Team Huma has settled upon a narrative whereby she is totally engrossed in their young son and her job and she wanted her husband to run for mayor mostly because it would give him something to do and allow her to focus even more of her time on the baby and her duties to Hillary. Supermom and Professional Feminist Hero all rolled up into one package. Well played, Team Huma, well played.

  7. It’s idiotic if we’ve let the race issue come to this point in America. Suddenly, it must be racist that Weiner chose a “Hispanic” name?

Carlos is a Spanish name, i.e. European. It also has several Spanish variations: Carlota and Carlita. Italy too has Carlotta and Carlo as variations. Carl is said to either be German or English (in English, it is a loose diminutive of Charles).

I’m no name expert, but names tend to be fluid – not owned by one culture – many names come from one country, only to be changed slightly and adopted by other countries as is especially the case with European names (of which most American names are diminutive or direct forms). So I’m not sure why Univision or their reporters think one race or ethnicity has claim on one name nor am I sure why they think it is racist or potentially a problem if a person of another ethnicity chooses to brand themselves with that name.

Maybe Univision does not want non-Hispanics choosing “Hispanic names.” Maybe Univision is racist.

    ratbeach (f5aad4)

  8. Carl is of Germanic derivation, a proto-knight in a chief’s household. When the Franks and other Germanics overran Europe, they gave it to the Latin-speaking people who latinized it into Carlos, etc. See also, Charles “Charlie the Hammer” Martel and “Big Charlie” Charlemagne.

  12. It’s pretty obvious what the problem with name Carlos Danger is. Using an Hispanic name for that carries with it a connotation about Hispanics being too interested in sex.

Coming to an Old Friend’s Aid, With an Eye on the Clinton Image – New York Times front page, Friday, August 2, 2013

Moments before Huma Abedin stood amid a phalanx of television cameras last week and announced to a national audience that she was standing by her embattled husband, Anthony D. Weiner, she made a quick phone call to a trusted colleague.

Philippe I. Reines, the personal spokesman and adviser to Hillary Rodham Clinton, picked up the phone. Longtime allies from Mrs. Clinton’s close-knit inner circle, the two spoke for several minutes before Ms. Abedin ended the call and stepped before reporters to make her statement.

Mr. Reines, 43, said his primary interest was in supporting his close friend Ms. Abedin, who has been an aide to Mrs. Clinton since the White House years, during a difficult time. But he also called Mrs. Clinton to make sure she knew what was about to unfold, according to a person briefed on their conversation.

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  18. Notice that Reines says he was acting on behalf of Huma Abedin, not Hillary Clinton.

    More:

When a crew from People magazine arrived at the Weiners’ apartment building last summer, Mr. Reines, then a top official at the State Department, greeted them. He had traveled from his Washington office to be present for the photo shoot and interview, which lasted hours and resulted in a glossy feature in which Ms. Abedin said “We’re a normal family” and which marked the beginning of Mr. Weiner’s attempted comeback….Mr. Reines plays down his interactions with the Weiner operation, saying he is unpaid and primarily concerned with assisting Ms. Abedin, a beloved surrogate daughter to the Clintons…

You see why Hillary Clinton might prefer people to be writting about Monica Lewinsky?

    Sammy Finkelman (d22d64)

  19. Coming to an Old Friend’s Aid, With an Eye on the Clinton Image – single page link

…the State Department had fashioned Mr. Reines’s role as communications chief to include not just defending Mrs. Clinton, but also defending her chief lieutenants and diplomats.

In addition to Mr. Reines, other longtime Clinton loyalists, including Maggie Williams, who managed Mrs. Clinton’s unsuccessful 2008 presidential bid, Cheryl Mills, who was Mrs. Clinton’s chief of staff at the State Department, and Mr. Clinton’s longtime aide Doug Band, have all reached out to Ms. Abedin to offer support and guidance, according to several people close to the Clintons. Ms. Abedin, now 37, is something of a little sister to the group, having started working in the Clinton White House at the age of 19……Ms. Abedin remains employed by Mrs. Clinton, who pays her salary as director of her personal transition office in Washington, a job Ms. Abedin began in March. Ms. Abedin plans to take a five-week paid vacation as the Clintons head to the Hamptons for August and Mr. Weiner enters the final stretch of the mayoral primary.

In recent days, Ms. Abedin, who had begun campaigning in New York City neighborhoods at her husband’s side, has returned to Washington. She spent Monday afternoon with Ms. Mills and Mr. Reines and dined with Mr. Reines that evening at a Chinese restaurant near Dupont Circle.

In an interview, Mr. Reines said he had known Ms. Abedin for 11 years and 9 days. “I’m not sure there’s anyone I’ve spoken to or spent more time with over that period,” he said.

A spokeswoman for the Weiner campaign declined to discuss Mr. Reines’s role, and he would not elaborate on his advice to Ms. Abedin…

Obamacare Full Frontal: Of 953,000 Jobs Created In 2013, 77%, Or 731,000 Are Part-Time

When the payroll report was released last month, the world finally noticed what we had been saying for nearly three years: that the US was slowly being converted to a part-time worker society. This slow conversion accelerated drastically in the last few months, and especially in June, when part time jobs exploded higher by 360K while full time jobs dropped by 240K. In July we are sad to report that America’s conversation to a part-time worker society is not “tapering”: according to the Household Survey, of the 266K jobs created (note this number differs from the establishment survey), only 35% of jobs, or 92K, were full time. The rest were… not

Objection! Your comment makes it sound like Huma Abedin is some innocent victim in all of this. Maybe you should look at it like this: First she trails after Hillary for years because she really thinks HRC will win the White House in 2008. Then she marries a media-savvy liberal congressman who is adored by the left-wing crowd and who is considered to be an excellent prospect for NYC mayor. Then she is embarrassed by the fact that her patron Hillary is an party hack serving an incompetent administration and her husband is addicted to sexting young women. Her pathway to power appears to be blocked in both directions, so she takes a cue from her boss and works to reinvent herself as a victim who dutifully accepted her husband’s peccadilloes in the interests of raising their child in a two-parent home.

Other than HRC herself, there is no one whose future depends more on mitigating the disastrous effects of the Obama/Clinton foreign policy than Huma Abedin.

I think Huma is on assignment to further the Muslim Brotherhood infiltration of America.

There is some kind of connection there with the Clintons.

I would think the Clintons know exactly what the relationship is.

This is more like the Clintons hiring someone who can never leave them.

And it is more like the Clintons infiltrating the Moslem Brotherhood than the other way around. Huma is never leaving the United States.

She couldn’t have been thinking that in 1995. It could be maybe a more general hope.

She was working for Islamic sharia organizations at the same time.

It could be in fact she was placed there as a liason, but I would think the Clintons have her loyalties now, except that they’d want her to keep up ties with her original sponsers.

Then she is embarrassed by the fact that her patron Hillary is an party hack serving an incompetent administration and her husband is addicted to sexting young women. Her pathway to power appears to be blocked in both directions

WASHINGTON (AP) – Exactly how many phone records of Americans does the National Security Agency collect in its massive surveillance program? Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the No. 2 Democrat in the Senate, tucked a provision into the 2014 fiscal year defense spending bill that would require the NSA to report to Congress – within 90 days after the legislation becomes law – on the precise number of phone records collected, the total reviewed by NSA employees and all bulk collection activities, including how much they cost and when they began.

I should have said temporarily blocked, but of course with the Democrats and their popular culture and media enablers nothing is forever. As much as we can’t see how she could possibly win after being a disastrous Secretary of State, they still have the flame lit. Anthony Weiner Selected As Air Force Sexual Assault Prevention Chief

ARLINGTON, VA – The Air Force announced Wednesday they had selected former Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner as the top civilian at the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) office.

The disgraced former U.S. Representative from New York’s 9th Congressional district was chosen after an exhaustive and expensive search because, according to the unit’s director Maj. General Margaret Woodward, “he seemed like a great fit for the position.”

Woodward explained that to combat sexual assault one needs to think like a sexual deviant — as other SAPR chiefs have done — and with Weiner, she thinks she has her man.

…However, 2013 has proven to be a banner year in sexual assault starting when two airmen were given clemency by generals in their chain of command after being convicted of sexual assault. Soon after, among other scandals, the SAPR chiefs at Fort Hood and Fort Campbell were disciplined for sexual infraction.

In fact, Woodward filled the vacancy as the SAPR director after her predecessor Lt. Col. Jeffery Krusinski allegedly groped a woman in the Pentagon parking lot while under the influence of alcohol.

Many sexual assault advocates feel that Woodward was under the influence of alcohol when choosing Weiner as her right hand man, claiming that this is just one more example of the Air Force not taking sexual crimes seriously.

“Weiner has an extensive background in public service,” said Woodward, “and I look forward to working with him and continuing his ongoing research of sexual deviancy.”

…When asked if the appointment would negatively affect his chances of being elected to mayor of New York City, Weiner told reporters it wouldn’t be nearly as bad as when “the rest of the goddamn texts come out.”
