Nifong Resigns
I think it’s an attempt to avoid being disbarred.
I don’t think it should succeed.
I see he is blaming his failure to turn over exculpatory evidence on a lack of experience:
He said he had not intentionally withheld evidence in the case, though he had made mistakes. He said that some mistakes made in the case, including mishandling evidence and not turning favorable DNA tests over to defense lawyers, were based on his inexperience in handling felony cases and oversight.
Lame.
UPDATE: He has been found guilty.
Nifong needs to be criminally prosecuted and financially ruined. What he did is criminal.

He’s getting hammered on the ethics verdicts. Good for him. Couldn’t happen to a bigger POS of a DA.

I agree Nifong resigned in a lame effort to avoid being disbarred. I don’t think it will work either, but I do wonder how long they will make him wait to petition for reinstatement.

Watching him hear these verdicts is a real “Wanna get away?” moment.
Dishonesty, fraud, lying to the court, etc, etc, etc…
Nifong is done. Now to put him in jail.
