  1. Yes that’s right, fixate on something really serious like abusing our own bodies instead of focusing on trivial issues like world over-population.

  2. From NUTLEY NJ….you can’t make this up folks.

Looking at mom, I thought I was watching a 30’s minstrel show, with folks in black-face.

  8. I believe the lady. The little girl looks fine.

So mama is nuts. There’s a lady in our neighborhood who runs five miles every day, and would be reclassified in South Africa. You know, there’s lots worse things that people do than subjecting themselves to sun damage.

  9. Is there an estranged daddy, pushing the accusation? Parent or in-law of the lady who wants to take the kid from her?

  12. Yeah, mama looks a little overdone in the … er tanning bed. Her skin looks like surprisingly supple well used and oiled saddle leather.

But has anybody looked at her daughter? If you haven’t go look. I’ll be here when you get back.

She’s a genuine hyper-fair skinned redhead, right? Even a couple minutes in the tanning bed would leave the girl a blistered crispy critter. Is there any sign of sunburn blisters on the child’s skin? I can’t see any.

Now, while the mother is sort of a 3W night-light in the 100W box she no doubt has been told by the child’s pediatrician about the dangers redheads face in the Sun. And no doubt mama’s suffered a serious sunburn or two in her life and knows it hurts. She does not look or act like somebody who lacks empathy for her child. Such a mother would not do the couple minutes in a tanning bed bit with her daughter. She’s likely as not yet another victim of “because I can and need to flex my power” nanny government.

  14. I found it plausible that the girl got a slight burn just from sitting outside one of those tanning beds.

They have one at my local gym that shines a little light through the side when it’s in use. I can see a little girl standing next to it with mommy inside, getting a minor burn. Or just exacerbating a burn she got playing outside (Which kids should be getting sometimes if they are playing outside and are as fair as this young lady).

On another note: it is hard to believe this mom is that tan from tanning beds. I think people who spend their whole life under the sun don’t look like that. I think she also looks a bit greasy. I suspect a hoax at some level here, and that she dyed her skin that color for that interview, picking that blouse to help with the effect.
