The petition also conceded that “paid political advertising on the Internet should remain subject to FEC rules and regulations” while arguing that “curtailing blogs and other online publications will dampen the impact of new voices in the political process.” I don’t agree that paid political advertising should be regulated by the FEC, whether on the Internet or elsewhere. But that is something of a side issue for the time being.
