Breitbart and the AP report a vacationing Rush Limbaugh is in serious condition in an Hawaii hospital. The report says he had chest pains.

  9. not sure how fast the weight loss was, but too rapid a reduction can cause problems. i lost a very good friend to cardiac issues secondary to rapid massive weight loss.

    yeah he lost the weight, but he was never healthy again, and died in just a few years.

  11. no worries nk: in a bizarre coincidence, the nightly kerfuffle here is that my FIL is running a SBP north of 200 and doesn’t want to go to the ER.

    if necessary, HRH, my 6 element, will be calling in the dustoff from here, assuming our guy on the ground can’t get him straight.

    (yeah, we’re both in the bidness: sorry if it makes my sense of humor on the issues a bit rough. %-)

  15. If this turns out to have been a cigar-smoking related illness, I wonder if Rush will pull a Larry King and turn from unapologetic smoker to anti-smoking evangelist. I tend to think not.

    I have never understood his oft-stated aversion to exercise. Even people who don’t do it understand they should, but he’s said many times he doesn’t like it, and when he wants to lose weight, designs his own diet plans that don’t include increased exercise. If he actually had a fitness routine before embarking on his golfing, he might have avoided the injury that led to his painkiller addiction.

  16. I hate when people what smoked become anti-smoking evangelists. For sure I learned that when they quit and they’re all I can’t even be around smoke anymore it smells so disgusting they are LYING.

Today is my sister-in-law’s memorial service. Life is a gift. The people wishing death on Limbaugh are, well, not quality people.

    Me, neither – but I learned from my father that when a person adamantly refuses to acknowledge reality in the face, then you have to just let them be and watch the inevitable decline. My father’s father smoked like a chimney and developed emphysema and later died of a heart attack, yet my father kept his 3 packs/day habit, even after repeated aterial surgeries and later on a triple bypass. We screamed, pleaded and cajoled him constantly to quit for himself if not for the rest of his family, to no avail. Didn’t make a whit of difference to him, until it was far too late to do anything about it.
