CNN Presents: Seven Hours Of Hot Air

…and I don’t mean Hot Air, the terrific website. I mean “hot air,” as in an unbearable barrage of toxic word vomit. In other words, a seven hour climate crisis town hall because we are a bad people and we deserve this:

CNN on Tuesday announced the candidate lineup for its unprecedented prime-time event focused on the climate crisis.

Ten Democratic presidential hopefuls will appear in New York at back-to-back town halls on Wednesday, September 4, taking audience questions about their climate plans as scientists sound the alarm about global warming.

Along with the candidates, the network also announced the CNN journalists and the approximate appearance times for the presidential hopefuls during the seven-hour, live event.

The crisis is real, and CNN is determined to put an end to our misery so that the earth can finally be at peace. So instead of waiting 14 years for the world to disintegrate or whatever it’s scheduled to do, CNN’s plan will hasten our demise through the means of utter and complete boredom and misery.

Here is the roster of speakers, each of whom will be allotted 40 minutes to yammer:

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julián Castro will be interviewed by CNN’s Wolf Blitzer at 5 p.m. ET

Businessman Andrew Yang, who will also be interviewed by Blitzer, will come on at 5:40 p.m.
California Sen. Kamala Harris will be interviewed by CNN’s Erin Burnett at 6:20 p.m.

Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who will also be interviewed by Burnett, will appear at 7 p.m.

Former Vice President Joe Biden will be interviewed by CNN’s Anderson Cooper at 8 p.m.

Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who will also be interviewed by Cooper, will be on at 8:40 p.m.

Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren will be interviewed by CNN’s Chris Cuomo at 9:20 p.m.

South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who will also be interviewed by Cuomo at 10 p.m.

Former Rep. Beto O’Rourke will appear with CNN’s Don Lemon at 10:40 p.m.

New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker will also be interviewed by Lemon and will come on at 11:20 p.m.

Sadly, JVW’s Little Aloha Sweetie won’t be making an appearance.

Given that there is a big demand by Democratic voters for the 2020 candidates to take aggressive steps to decelerate the effects of climate change, including getting the greenhouse gas emissions be down to zero in the next 30 years, as well as rejoining the Paris climate agreement if elected and signing the No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge, it makes absolutely perfect sense for CNN to provide the candidates 40 minutes of airtime to present their specific plans on how to save the planet.

And in a cruel twist of fate, just last week Jay Inslee, who had made climate change the centerpiece of his short run for the presidency, announced that he was ending his bid for the 2020 nomination:

“This is sort of the bookends of my campaign,” Inslee said on MSNBC. “We started seeing that climate change had to be the number one job of the United States. I felt very good saying that the first days of my campaign. I feel very good saying that now. And the reason is this is has just become more urgent — a billion tons of ice melted in Greenland the other day… “

  6. 7 hrs seems really long. It’s funny that you can see who CNN thinks is most bankable, though. Castro and Booker, no hopers.

  7. Sadly, JVW’s Little Aloha Sweetie won’t be making an appearance.

Figures that FAKENEWSFAILINGCNN would leave the hawtest candidate out of their “global warming” event, amirite?

  9. It is only to be hopes, Ed, only to be hoped. AGW has always been socialism disguised as environmentalism, but even when they took the mask off with the Green New Deal, people continued to promote the fraud. There’s a lot of government power, tax revenue, redistribution of wealth, and crony capitalism at stake.

    nk (dbc370)

  10. That’s right, Dave, socialism disguised as environmentalism. It’s also sensationalism designed to drum up the youth vote, scare tactics.

This crop of Democrats has lurched farther to the left than Obama or even Clinton ever dreamed of going. But this is only a townhall of little consequence that no one will watch.

  11. Truth be told, CNN is 24 hours of hot air, 7 days a week.

  12. Wonder if they will ask them about either of these news items from this week:

The scientist responsible for the ‘Hockey Stick’ graph used by CAGW advocates refused to provide to the court the data to support his graph, the only means to prove/disprove his results.

  13. Andrew Yang apparently says it is ten years too late to do anything about climate change (which at least is consistent with the climate models)

From Night 2 of the second Democratic debate July 31:

YANG: The important number in Vice President Biden’s remarks just now is that the United States was only 15 percent of global emissions. We like to act as if we’re 100 percent, but the truth is even if we were to curb
our emissions dramatically, the earth is still going to get warmer.

And we can see it around it us this summer. The last four years have
been the four warmest years in recorded history. This is going to be a
tough truth, but we are too late. We are 10 years too late. We need to
do everything we can to start moving the climate in the right direction,
but we also need to start moving our people to higher ground.

And the best way to do that is to put economic resources into your hands
so you can protect yourself and your families.

    Boldface mine/

The question is, will he have the courage to say that none of this conservation makes any sense?

    Sammy Finkelman (42d229)

  14. No, he still says they have to “move the climate in the right direction.”

    Sammy Finkelman (42d229)

  15. So this is it: the Democrats are bound and determined to move forward with only ten candidates. I’m guessing that no matter what polls show from here, and no matter what their declared rules are, this fall’s debates will only include the ten names listed above.

    JVW (54fd0b)

  16. The polls were pre-selected. They were not selected after Tulsi Gabbard or anybody else passed the threshhold in some and didn’t in others.

The 4th debate (to be held in October) has the same qualifications as the 3rd debate buut the dates of the polls are different, with older polls dropping off and newer ones coming in.

Beto O’Rourke will probably not make the 4th debate. His place may be taken by Tom Steyer.,

The rules for qualifying for the 5th and subsequent debates have not been set.

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

  19. The Quinnipiac poll has Biden back in a 13 point lead, * and all the Democrats beat Trump (which iis what all polls have been showing – of course that’s with no attention drawn to any negatives. Whoever is stronger between the Democrats is also a bit stronger against Trump.)

    * 32 for Joe Biden, 19 for Elizabeth Warren 15 for Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris at 7.

The only others to meet the 2% threshhold in this poll are Pete Buttigieg at 5%, and Andrew Yang at 3%. Seven, including Julian Castro, and Kirsten Gillibrand (who, according to Mark Steyn, was selling $30 T-shirts for $1 to meet the other criteria of 130,000 donors) – got no mentions at all in this poll, and eight candidates including Beto O’Rourke, Bill de Blasio, Marianne Williamson, Tulsi Gabbard and Cory Booker, got 1%.

Don’t Know or No Answer has 9%, Wouldn’t Vote has 2% and someone else (besides the 21 names supplied) has 1%. The last two answers were volunteered.

Tom Steyer had been running ads in the early voting states to raise his poll numbers, but pulled those ads yesterday evening. (polling season must have been over) Steyer got nothing in this nationwide poll.

In this sample, 37 percent of the voters said the national economy is getting worse with 31 percent saying it is getting better, and 30 percent saying it is staying the same.

Up in Minnesota, where the winter can be killin’ cold
There lived a girl, that I swear to the world
Made that Mr. Rogers look bold
Comb Salad Amy, Comb Salad Amy
Everybody said it was a shame
That her campaign never went aflame
    (A plain, no personality woman)

Everyday for supper time, she’d run and hit the salad bar
And load up on that salad, and gobble it down with her hair comb
Comb Salad Amy, subjected you to shame-y
    Everybody thought it very strange
Cause you couldn’t ever make a change
    (A fork wouldn’t a been so messy
    ‘specially with that Roquefort dressing)

A sad day for the Democrats, Kirsten Gillibrand has dropped out of the Presidential Primary. I’m glad they never found out that she was the one I was really afraid of!

    nk (dbc370)

  27. Trump had said something about Kirsten Gillibrand (that she would do anything or words to that effect) which were misrepresented.

He was saying on;y what everybody knew about her.

Her campaign people were telling her to wothdraw (maybe so they could get jobs in other campaigns?)

She thought she was another Hillary Clinton.

    Sammy Finkelman (42d229)

  28. Kirsten Gillibrand spent all of her campaig money on ads in Iowa and New Hampshire in order to raise her poll numbers – and there were no qualifying polls scheduled to be taken there in the two weeks remaining before August 28.

I think some people on her campaign thought she was not going anywhere, and wanted to end her campaign early so they could go towork for other campaigns. (just quitting in the middle maybe might look like a betrayal. So they betrayed her more completely, but in a way that it didn;’t look like that)
