Palate Cleanser: Nominees’ Slip Of The Tongue

Filed under: General — Dana @ 5:19 pm

[guest post by Dana]

Finally, these two awful people didn’t make me wail and gnash my teeth in frustration and anger, if only for the briefest of moments:

We will likely have to watch the country go to hell in a hand basket with either one of these two clowns in the Oval Office, but at least we got a laugh at their expense first.

  1. Yes, I am desperate to find something to laugh about these days, thank you.

  6. If Hillary’s health fails, and Trump is just…Trump and either quits or is forced out somehow, what is going to happen? Will Obama make the play for an unprecedented third term?

I’d say the chances are 50/50, but the American people would not stand for it.

If Hillary’s health fails, and Trump is just…Trump and either quits or is forced out somehow, what is going to happen? Will Obama make the play for an unprecedented third term? </blockquote. No, that's not in conformity with the Costitution (22nd amendmentm ratufied Feb 27m, 1951, which dirst affected Eisenhower, and the Reagan, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Obama. Both Eisenhowerr and Reagan might not have run for a third term, anyway. The 22nd amendment is why the Democratic candidate this year is Hillary.

I’d say the chances are 50/50, but the American people would not stand for it.

Actually, they probably wish that could happen.

You can’t get Obama, but you could get Biden.

Anyway, the precedent is when Thomas Eagleton resigned form the ticket afetr the convention. In both major parties, probably the National Committee (which I think has two members from each satte, one male and one female) would pick the replacement.

In 1872, when Horace Greeley died after the election, but before the Electors voted, the votes of his Electors were scattered among four other men, and some did notvote. His vice-presidential candidate got just 18 of 63 votes. 17 votes from southern states were not counted.

  17. Will Obama make the play for an unprecedented third term?

Don’t be ridiculous. He can’t. It’s not possible. End of story. This is of a class with the paranoid freaks who claim he’ll cancel the election (and made the same claim about Bush 8 years ago). There are few things we can be certain of, but one is that in 164 days, 14 hours, 28 minutes and 30 seconds 0bama will no longer be president, no matter what. As of that moment the armed forces will stop obeying him, so it won’t matter how much he would like to stay in office, he won’t be able to.

    Milhouse (5a188d)

  18. I just discovered a ridiculous flaw in Chrome that from my point of view makes it unusuable. When passing along an HTTP authentication request it doesn’t show the message. It just demands a userid and password, and won’t let you past if you can’t supply them. So if the userid and password are in the message that it won’t show you, you’re scr*wed. You just can’t get in. Bring the same page up in Firefox and there’s the message, with the credentials needed to get in.

Constitutionally cannot, although yes, Biden with Obama as Rasputin is possible.

And remember, FDR was just a couple of months into his fourth term when he shuffled off. The whole catalyst for the 22nd Amendment.

  23. There is a silver lining: one of these two clowns is going to lose in November, and whichever it is is guaranteed to take losing very badly. I’m going to enjoy the loser’s pathetic meltdown – as long as I can keep my mind off the horrors in store from the other one winning. Come to think of it, either one is guaranteed to be a very ungracious winner, too, which will be interesting, at least.

Oh, I thought he was trying to say “cities” not “entities.” Either way, his slip of the tongue is funny. Of course, that reminds me of our current “great orator” who, if not speaking from a teleprompter, often provides us with a good Elmer Fudd impersonation.

But with the Hillary video, my gosh she is looking old and bad. I don’t see how she survives 4 years in office, much less 8.

Not Hillary. Unless health issues forbid, she’ll probably start gearing up to 2020, secretly. (Standard Clinton practice is to delay announcing as long as possible)

    Sammy Finkelman (03c82c)

  31. Come to think of it, either one is guaranteed to be a very ungracious winner, too, which will be interesting, at least.

You really want to see that? You want to see a criminal investigation into Melania Trump’s immigration and naturalization? Or, because the statute of limitations has expired, de-naturalization proceedings against her?

Melania will win the case – she won’t get de-naturalized – but the harassment will use up a lot of Donald Trump’s money, not to mention making him out to be a hypocrite, dispiriting opposition to immigration law reform, and making sure Donald Trump won’t run again in 2020, not that that is something that Hillary Clinton would necesssarily wish to avoid.

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/anti-trump-group-probe-melania-immigration-history-article-1.2742835

Anti-Trump group files complaint with U.S. Customs and Border Protection for formal probe into Melania Trump’s immigration history

….In a statement, the Democratic Coalition Against Trump said that the agency “has a duty” to conduct an “immediate and thorough investigation” into claims that the potential first lady violated U.S. immigration laws…

….Her immigration status emerged as hot-button issue last week after racy photos of her in the U.S. dating back to 1995 were published — raising questions about how the Slovenian-born model would have been able to legally work in the United States.

Melania has repeatedly said she first came to the U.S. in 1996 on a short-term visa. But those documents wouldn’t have allowed her to legally work in the country.

Now you know why those photos were made available by the photographer. Technically, maybe she didn’t work, as she probably was not paid, at least from a U.S. bank account, and those pictures were sold in Europe.

The other notable issue is that she or a lawyer said in 2001 she became a permanent resident because of marriage, but, as far as is known, Donald Trump didn’t formally marry her until 2005. A person on a fiance visa I think has only 90 days to get married.

There are also irregularities in her work visas, but that was routine in the fashion industry.

FDR was just a couple of months into his fourth term when he shuffled off. The whole catalyst for the 22nd Amendment.

So he really only had about 3 terms. He was president for 12 years, 1 month, and 8 days.

His second and later terms started earlier than his first term, as the day for the inauguration of a president was pushed back from March 4 (where it had accidentally begun in 1789) to January 20. He was close to three months into his fourth term.

  34. Sammy, there’s nothing peculiar about that. That’s what happens to every picture uploaded to WP without saying why it should be allowed to be there. Whoever uploaded this one just copied it from LinkedIn, which he had no right to do, let alone the authority to release the photographer’s rights to it. Images on WP have to be free for all to copy, unless it’s impossible to find one and it’s important to have a picture. In general copyright photos of living people will never be allowed up, since it’s always possible for someone to take a new picture and release his rights to it.

  35. HRC is a ‘private citizen’ now. And calls for Congress to come back in session for Zita? Who does she think she is, Harry Truman?

    Hey look, squirrel!

Let’s all call Congress back into session to do everything they didn’t do for the past year, instead.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  36. You ight have missed:

Elizabeth Warren, in an interview published in Business Week, said matetr of factly that Donald Trump would cause nuclear war and that’s why business interests had contributed to Hillary. (before even Trump was on the horizon?)

I thought the reason was supposed to be because she did so much for the victims of Sept 11th.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-elizabeth-warren-interview-issue/

Given that the financial industry has given Hillary $41 million this election vs. $109,000 for Trump, do you think banks will exert renewed pressure within the Democratic Party?

I don’t see it as a swing back to Democrats so much as I see it as supporting sanity. The financial-services people, as much as many of them would like to see more deregulation, are also deeply frightened by the prospect of a Trump presidency. Nuclear war is bad for business.

    Sammy Finkelman (643dcd)

  37. 35. Thank you.

  38. The crowd applauded Trump – and didn’t seem to notice that he had just said a sentence that included a word that made no sense.

‘money to come poutring in,…and, by the way, into titties like right here in Detroit.’
