ObamaCare Fallout: Healthcare’s on Us

Speaker Pelosi said this two months ago as a selling point for health care reform, and she’s still saying it — Don’t worry about working; We’ll cover your health care:

“We see it as an entrepreneurial bill, a bill that says to someone, if you want to be creative and be a musician or whatever, you can leave your work, focus on your talent, your skill, your passion, your aspirations because you will have health care.”

  1. Botox addles the brain. It was published a week or two ago that too much exposure to Botox has the effect of over-sensitizing the emotions. In common language, Botox puts people on edge, uptight, and unable to respond rationally to ordinary interaction, let alone the rough and tumble of political horse trading, especially at the level a Speaker operates.

Look for Princess Nancy to begin wanting to spend a little more time at home with family, instead of prancing around in pantsuits in the HOR, grinning like an idiot, and exhibiting a blink rate sufficient to trigger a drug test if witnessed by a traffic cop.

  2. It’s a bill for “entrepreneurs” who want a giant safety net forcibly paid by others.

  3. What a whackjob.

The reality is that the ludicrous health care “reform” legislation is going to kill off small business and increase the domination of large corporations that can absorb the increased overhead of the Democrats’ fantasy.

This kind of bizarre rhetoric is the Democrats trying to pretend that they are not the economy-killing ideology that they are.

  4. I wish just once someone would interject during these flights of inanity to ask whether they think they also fart cinnamon buns and expectorate gold bullion.

  7. This will be a big draw for the vast majority of Democratic voters who are already unemployed if they don’t belong to SEIU or a teachers’ union. They can tell neighbors who ask them if they’ve been laid off, “I’m working on my music career.”

  9. I really became disgusted with the purist artist classes when 2 leftist writers I know (neither earning a living at it), full on BushHitler haters, won NEA grants of $45K.

Yes, they couldn’t cash that BushHitler check fast enough.

  10. Haha, this is music the ears of the struggling musicians and other artistes that I know. Some of us bailed from full-time years ago but some are hanging on, living hand to mouth and working off the books. And actually county health takes pretty good care of them, but they want “real” health insurance dammit.

  11. And they think others should pay for it, right cassandra?

Calvin: “This is my sculpture, “Bourgeois Buffoon.” Can you believe Mom rejected my grant application to continue making these?”

Hobbes: “Why would you need a grant?”

Calvin: “I’m on the cutting edge of art! My work deserves public support!”

Hobbes: “What if the public doesn’t like your work?”

Calvin: “They’re not supposed to like it! This is avant-garde stuff! I’m criticizing the morons who can’t appreciate great art like this!”

Hobbes: “But you’ll take their money”

Calvin: “What do you want me to do, suffer?”

  13. Well, to be perfectly coarse… someone could try pissing on a portrait of Nancy Pelosi and submit that to the feds. See if it’s worth 45K.

  14. VN, i believe that would be priceless…..

or at least the looks on their faces would be. %-)

  15. Some artiste should build an animatronic version of Pelosi where the face actually moves.

    Talk about avant-garde!

Gee, what’s one of the major platform positions of the Socialist Party? That’s right: “We support guaranteed incomes and grants for artists and performers”; a “livable guaranteed annual income” — regardless of whether or not you actually work, or produce anything of value to society.

Can’t imagine why people label “progressives” as being Socialists.

  16. Read Kagan’s thesis and it may help you to understand.

Socialism, like communism, has never really, really been tried by the perfect society. I just hope we aren’t it.

  17. Vermont Neighbor, that’s an idea worth consideration. I can see it now, MOMA’s Public Exhibition* of Performance Art: The Piss Poll, An Interactive Political Experience.

Come and pay your personal homage.

  18. Interactive and a quiet form of rebellion. Like when the dog tears up your slippers.

I will now have to read kagan’s thesis of utopia done right. Unlike either Obama, she comes off as moderate and likeable. You have 2 groups of destroyers here: the Rahm-axle types and the ones who know how to assimilate nicely while submerging their views. Elena was nice at Harvard, hiring conservatives and all that. It’s scary that she’s a Obama clone with the whole selective-justice agenda. Her work will live on and on, long after the Holder thugs are evicted. Sickening.

  19. This is a brilliant way to address that nagging Unemployment Rate problem. Sure beats admitting that the government is impotent, and really has no way to grow the real economy. A year from now, they will all be claiming credit.
