President Obama Announces Vote 2010

[Guest post by DRJ]

President Obama is excited about getting out the 2010 Vote:

“It will be up to each of you to make sure the young people, African-Americans, Latinos, and women who powered our victory in 2008, stand together once again.”

The most charitable construction of this statement is that President Obama is targeting the voters likely to sit out this election. The most reasonable construction is that he’s given up on white voters, at least in 2010.

  1. Playing the race card? So much for his post-racial posing… snicker… snicker.

  2. I wish that that’s all Obama’s base but, unfortunately, he also has the latte-sippers, Birkenstock wearers, and vegetarians with 2.8 bicycles, who, if the turnout is low on our side and they are energized, will give him the votes he needs.

  4. Obama doesn’t hesitate to use racially-charged, divisive language to further his agenda. He’s fond of lecturing all Americans that “words matter” and he needs to be reminded this November that yes, they do, indeed.

  5. mk – Don’t forget about the ACORN absentee ballot waves out there.

  8. It will be interesting to see how the White House plans to play out this strategerie over the next six months, especially if all the ‘horrors’ they’re claiming from things like the Tea Party movement or the Arizona immigration law don’t materialize. That won’t stop them or their supporters in the big media from continuing to try and manufacture outrage to gin up the votes from groups considered favoring Obama, but it’s just as likely to even further anger those already opposed to Obama’s plans, including those who might have been angry about health care reform in March, but might have calmed down and not voted in November if the White House had just laid low for the spring and summer.

  10. Obama, you’d lost me from the jump. So go ahead and find somebody else to be a sucker–if you can.

What an affront to all the middle-aged or older white males who voted for Mr. Obama. I wonder if they might be feeling a bit disenfranchised by the very person who touted himself as the great unifier…

Ultimately I think it’s a shrewd move on Obama’s part as he clearly realizes he has lost that group. (He must have read those Tea Party stats!). Enough time has passed and the impact of his decisions have hit home with anemic portfolios, businesses being killed with regulations and taxes, etc., etc. The blush is off the rose, the romance is gone and now it’s just the blunt reality of what his administration truly is. Hence, he’s going directly to those whose also play racial politics and/or those who are waiting for him to keep his end of the amnesty immigration reform bargain.

  12. He needn’t have asked me to vote. I’m voting and not the way he wants.

  13. Remember when that racist GW Bush called on all white citizens to ensure they voted. Yeah me neither.

  14. On the plus side this another data point for IMDW, timb and others who still need evidence that Obama is a racist.

  19. That’s not racism, it’s merely “targeting a demographic.”

Besides, don’t you know? Black people can’t be racist. Instead, it’s “justified outrage at their years of oppression and discrimination.”

    Or something.

What HaveBlue sais. Gyah, can you imaging the hate-storm if Bush had made such a statement, say, targeting evangelical Christians or anglo-Americans? Way to fuel the race war, B.O…Teh Uniter.

  20. Don’t worry Dana #11, the guilty white male girlieman libtardaires will never cave to the nazi racist opposition.
If they don’t vote how Obama tells them, they are a racist, and they know it. Yes, they are insane.

  22. You are all racist for opposing Barcky. That is all.

    JD (cc3aa7)

  23. Since women constitute about half the white people in the U.S. and young people are also included, it’s inaccurate to say Obama has given up on white voters. White male voters over 30, maybe.

    Joshua (9ede0e)

  24. We almost care what you think, Joshua. Almost. So close. Nope.

    JD (cc3aa7)

  25. Just picture this … imagine if Bush was the one reading those words from a teleprompter. What would the reaction of the MSM and the Left be to that?

    JD (cc3aa7)

  26. And don’t forget, Obama still has the Jewish vote.

And don’t forget, Obama still has the Jewish vote.

Or continues to think he does, at any rate.

  28. Didn’t the most recently polling show that almost 2/3’s disapproved of his handling of Israel?

    JD (cc3aa7)

  29. Only ACORN (part deux) can save the Democrats this fall. At least that is my hope. But I also hope that most long-in-office Republicans get the boot as well.
