How to Talk Texan in One Easy Lesson

Filed under: General — DRJ @ 10:41 pm

[Guest post by DRJ]

President Bush visited VP Cheney at his Virginia home today. By West Texas standards, their conversation included this lengthy and heartfelt exchange:

“Former President George W. Bush arrived at the McLean, Va., home of former Vice President Dick Cheney, newly returned from a hospital stay from his fifth heart attack.

“Lookin’ good,” said Bush.

“Holding up,” said Cheney.”

  10. I loved it when Pres. Bush stepped in the house and gave a nice shout out to “Liz”, sounded like he was coming home.
I miss these men. No doubt in my mind that they would do what it takes to protect my country and family. Since 1/20/2009, I have had no peace of mind in that category.

    Yup.

Wife: Did you find out why the ambulance came for the neighbor?
    Me: Diabetic coma.
Wife: Type I or Type II?
    Me: Don’t know.
Wife: How long has he had it?
    Me: Didn’t ask.
Wife: What hospital did they take him to?
    Me: Don’t know.
Wife: How are they treating it?
    Me: Don’t know.
    Wife: How is he now?
Me: Ok, I guess. Looks a little thinner.

  13. And Obama talked 119 minutes in the “summit” yesterday.

    Say what ?

    Nuthin

    Mike K (2cf494)

  14. Five years from now, do you think Obama will would ever pay a social call on Biden?

    TimesDisliker (96d277)

  15. Real men don’t need 119 minutes to say anything of meaning.

  17. Decent, serious people – Bush and Cheney. It is going to be a long time before we have people in the White House to match their character.

  18. 10 years after Obama is out of office, he’ll be less accessible than Dick Cheney was after 9/11. Hint: Obama will be the first president granted only 10 years of Secret Service protection after he leaves office. I bet there are a lot of fists waiting to beat the arrogance out of his face.

    PCD (1d8b6d)

  19. PCD – I don’t see that happening mostly cuz the GOP wouldn’t pull that stunt …

What I *would* like to see is that, after a couple of years of being ex-Pres, the guarding of the ex-Pres be funded by public subscription … the current ex-Pres folk would do OK, I believe … the current incumbent, not so much, I suspect …

It would give Presidents a little extra incentive to do what is right for the country, dontcha think ?

    Alasdair (e7cb73)

  20. Can you imagine that conversation if the players were Clinton and Gore? (I agree with the premise of TimesDisliker’s 7:51 am comment that Obama would never visit Biden under these circumstances.) Clinton would be in all his phony “I feel your pain, I care about you” element and Gore would prattle on about how his plight underscores the need to combat global climate change and provide universal single-payer health care to every American.
