Bratton Quits LAPD
[Guest post by Jack Dunphy]
Los Angeles Police Department Chief William Bratton announced his resignation today, bringing to an end the persistent and widespread speculation within the department that he would do so soon. I posted my reaction to the news this morning at NRO’s The Corner.

Shorter Dunphy,
No blacks need apply.
Thank you, this has been a public information broadcast by the NRO on behalf of the recruitment office of the LAPD.

Jeez. Did you even bother to look at the history of the LAPD? No, you go to the racism card, ASAP.
What a troll. At least you will go away once classes start.

Anyone who would want that job would surely fail the entry level police psychology test.
Comment by Huey — 8/5/2009 @ 2:14 pm
Where the FUCK did Spart get THAT from?
I didn’t see race mentioned even ONCE in Jack’s post.
Someone ban this POS.
Comment by Scott Jacobs — 8/5/2009 @ 2:15 pm
Congratulations, Spart. I knew I could count on you.
Comment by Jack Dunphy — 8/5/2009 @ 2:16 pm
Defamation, that’s spart’s only tool in the toolkit. Defamation and outright falsehoods.

“But I will say this: It was the corrosive influence of identity politics that burdened the LAPD with the affable but inept Willie Williams…”
Ah yes, the Willie Williams effect: Color trumps competence.
This is the same reason King/Drew medical center became known as “Killer King”.

Shart is an aggressively dishonest bad-faithed troll, Jack. I would demand that it back up its assertion, and moderate him until he does
Comment by JD — 8/5/2009 @ 2:47 pm
This exchange is what the Debate Club Reject™ wants, folks. He thrives on malignant attention like he is receiving right now. And you all might consider why, and grin.
Something tells me that spart does not post from poolside, with a beautiful woman/man smoothing suntan oil onto his chiseled physique, with a frosty drink to one side. You know?
Comment by Eric Blair — 8/5/2009 @ 2:49 pm
Oh, and spart? I try not to judge all lefties based on game playing ignorant lying trolls like yourself. Funny you think you can judge one person based on what another person says. Telling, in fact.
When do classes start, again? Academic probation is up, I think.
Comment by Eric Blair — 8/5/2009 @ 2:51 pm
Chief Dunphy sounds pretty good to me.
Comment by Old Coot — 8/5/2009 @ 3:00 pm
Say goodbye to spart. I’m putting him in moderation because of his comment #1.
Comment by DRJ — 8/5/2009 @ 3:11 pm
Thank you DRJ.
Thank you thank you thank you.
Comment by Scott Jacobs — 8/5/2009 @ 3:18 pm
Maybe after moderation, we could see if we could get killer King to reopen for one day so he could benefit from its ministrations. I’ll bet he doesn’t even know that name was given to it by the black population of south LA.

The thing about banning trolls is that it shouldn’t be necessary! And the banned trolls think that they have proved something. Crazy thinking.
Lazy thinking, actually.
DRJ, thank you for cleaning things up. I’m sad you had to do it, but glad you did.
Attacks on the person of fine people is a good metric for banning. After all, hasn’t the Left pushed and pushed about how evil racism is? So when a Left of center type calls someone a racist who is not; why they deserve serious consequences.
Or else their feelings about the evilness of racism might have more to do with D versus R than intrinsic hatred of racism.
Comment by Eric Blair — 8/5/2009 @ 3:58 pm
Racists !!!!
Comment by JD — 8/5/2009 @ 6:15 pm
*BLAM!*
Shame we don’t have a pike for display purposes.
Comment by M. Scott Eiland — 8/5/2009 @ 6:53 pm
Hopefully they’ll find a professional who can figure out how to get more policing for less money, since less money is going to be the way of things for a while.

Hey Jack, here’s something to look forward to:
How about LAPD’s first woman chief?
Sheriff Hitchens seems to have worn out her welcome in the OC, but she might fit right in to the Downtown power structure.

I vote for Officer Dunphy.
Comment by Scott Jacobs — 8/5/2009 @ 7:49 pm
I heard he wants to run for mayor of NYC. We shall see.
I don’t love the guy, but he sure was better than the ones in the past.

This is bad to where it’s so bad even NG said it was bad.

My grandmother liked Mayor Frank Shaw – of course he was the head of a horribly corrupt administration. Ah, the good old days – when police captains were convicted of bombing political opponents. Today we seem to lack the same….passion.

Bring back Darryl Gates!

I’m confident (never having met the man) that Jack Dunphy is one Hell of a Good Man & Cop.
But….
Why would you want to throw him into the cess-pool that is the Chief’s job?
Comment by AD - RtR/OS! — 8/6/2009 @ 8:53 am
I think Bratton sees that releasing 43,000 from state prison is going to destroy all the gains LAPD has made in crime reduction. Time to move on with his reputation intact.
Comment by Stan Switek — 8/6/2009 @ 12:35 pm
That’s going overboard. LA is still an exceptionally crimey cesspool. It costs a lot of money to be safe here cause it’s a dirty and not at all classy city chock full of stupid and violent.
And you keep your head down when the LAPD’s around and just get on with your business. The police here simply can’t be trusted or admired as a group. They really did shoot that to hell a long time ago. Fool me once and all that.
