Ohio Tea Party Protest (Updated x2)

[Guest post by DRJ]

Ohio is an important swing state that voted for Obama by 4 points in the 2008 Presidential election. While the Obama Administration has a lot of political issues to worry about, protests like this one in Ohio (via the Instapundit) must be at the top of the list:

A “TEA PARTY” RALLY IN COLUMBUS, OHIO: Justin Binik-Thomas emails:

Ohio State Sovereignty Tea Party Sponsored by Ohio Liberty Council Scheduled 2 to 4

7000+ present

Surrounding streets closed Front lawn and walkways full
People still coming Will update photos throughout event

~1000 bussed in from around state

The Instapundit link has a photo, while this Rasmussen poll link shows 30 straight days of Obama’s negative strongly approve/strongly disapprove index. Taken together, these links are not a pretty picture for the Obama Administration.

UPDATE 1: Via Travis Monitor, unhappy constituents also visited Rep. Lloyd Doggett in Austin, Texas. It says he decided to cut the meeting short after some tough questioning about health care.

UPDATE 2: Politico has more Town Halls Gone Wild.

Very funny. They ran this guy out of his own townhall meeting! He cut it short, then they blocked his car and peppered him with questions.

He escaped before the tar and feathers were ready tho’ …

Won’t do any good – it’s a strong union state, run (now) by Dems.

  6. I’ve also added a Politico link on rowdy tea parties and town hall meetings. Congressional homecomings may make August a hot month.

  7. Its hilarious, the health care reform is soooo important but none of the Democrats can explain what they are up to, nor defend any of the policies.

    Astonishing incompetence.

If they know the truth about ObamaCare, and told the truth about it,
they would be lynched by their own constituents!

  11. And the gray panthers are only getting started if what I’ve read/heard is correct.
The 2010 elections could be quite interesting.

I saw the cover of the latest Newsweek with the headline “Recession Over” and wanted to pencil in “Depression just getting under way”

  13. Obama and his congressional leaders are not fixing the economy – the job the American public hired them to do. With unemployment at 10%, two points higher than team Obama had projected, they can rewrite the economic numbers, but to the unemployed it is becoming Obama’s economy.

Nancy & Harry have rammed legislation through congress – bailouts, stimulus, cap & trade and now healthcare – that are very unpopular with moderates and conservatives, who constitute a majority of voters. These reactions at Tea Parties and town hall meetings are unprecedented. These people are not paid street demonstrators or rednecks, they are main street Americans who see their views being ignored. I suspect that cap & trade and healthcare will fail to pass in the Fall.

If I am wrong and they pass C&T and/or Obamacare, there will be many new faces in congress and that may not be a bad thing. Senators and Representatives (an ironic title) should be afraid, very afraid.
