Merry Christmas 2007

This Merry Christmas is brought to you by HRH HM Queen Elizabeth II, courtesy of YouTube (embedding disabled by request). She also has a MySpace profile but there are no blog entries yet but her “About Me” section is pretty impressive.

Our home is far more humble but our family sends best holiday wishes from our house to yours.

  1. DRJ, thanks for pointing out Her Majesty’s MySpace. The link above was broken.

Here’s the Queen’s MySpace page, link fixed.

[Thanks, Christoph. I coded the link wrong as I am prone to do and I know you are correct that a fan set up the MySpace page. Here’s the link for those who want the official royal website. — DRJ]

  2. By the way, that is almost certainly a fan’s page, admittedly with some great content (but awful colours and hard to read). If it was her official page, it would at least say so.

To those of you who saw the Queen’s 1957 Christmas broadcast on the official YouTube profile earlier, it’s now updated with her 2007 Christmas broadcast. She starts it brilliantly…

  3. Merry Christmas, DRJ. I am off to the great state of Texas for a few days, and then out to LA for the Rose Bowl.

  4. I’ve got two chickens with potatoes, green beans with tomatoes, four steaks, and ravioli. My wife is making a salad. Cheese/spinach puffs, various cheeses and olives for appetizers. The honey-glazed ham will stay in the refrigerator because … I ain’t saying all my family secrets. So what are you cooking?

  5. NK,

The tradition in my family is to spread the Christmas celebration out over a couple of days with things like turkey, dressing and sweet potatoes on one day and prime rib, roasted vegetables and salad the next. We also have a ham in the refrigerator that will be served New Year’s Day with black-eyed peas and cornbread. But it’s not the food as much as the traditions … and thank goodness for that, because the dressing did not turn out well this year!

  6. JD,

I’ll be watching the Rose Bowl and rooting for your Fighting Illini.

  8. Merry Christmas, y’all.

  9. HM not HRH. His/Her Royal Highness is for a prince(ss).

  10. I guess it’s obvious I’m not a royal watcher. Thanks and I’ll fix it.

  11. DRJ – I saw a great t-shirt for the Rose Bowl. The front had both the Illini and USC symbol, and the back said “Our Juice can beat you, but he will not kill you”.

Anyone have any recommendations for restaurants in Houston ?
