Breathtaking, indeed. I was there earlier this May, though my dad and I trekked from Grindelwald upwards, trying to reach First and the lake nearby. As we were inching up yet another 45-degree inclined gravel slope, a group of men approached us. We asked them whether First was anywhere near and they told us that we would reach there by nightfall! With reality in check – we had to take the last train from Grindelwald to Interlaken Ost – we decided to take the cable up. The partially frozen lake was worth the day trip.
