ObraGore’s Parallel Government

So Calderon has finally been declared the winner of Mexico’s election — but ObraGore is going to set up a parallel government:

Nevertheless, supporters of losing leftist candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador continued their street protests. The former Mexico City mayor said he would not concede defeat and vowed to set up a parallel government.

Then he plans to grow a beard and a paunch, and create a movie called “An Inconvenient Truth: I Really Won!”

UPDATE: On a serious note, Dafydd ab Hugh sees in ObraGore’s actions the seeds of a possible civil war.

  1. Good. While they’re busy we can grab off Baja, Sonora and Chihuahua.

    You snooze you lose, amigos.

  2. I wonder if your readers know what the word “Obrar” means in Spanish. How would a politician called “Crapper” do in the US?

  3. It’s unbelievable to me that AMLO is going to push Mexico to the brink of Civil War. It, is quite the tragedy, and his brinkmanship is just insane. Yikes, and all on our southern border. No fun all the way around.

  4. Perhaps the most freightening thing about this is how Obrador’s party echos the cries of the far left in the US…essentially “if we lost there must have been fraud.”

I’m not at all sure that there aren’t significant elements among the ultra-liberals here who wouldn’t push the same thing if they loose again.

  5. AMLO’s sponsors – Chavez, Iran, whomever – want him to go for it. To be able to set up shop right on the border of the US? They want it and they want it now.

This’ll get worse before it gets better.

  6. I may have missed one, but in every major election loss fascists and communists have seized power. Remember Hitler did NOT win in Germany, in fact he actually lost votes in the second election in 1933. (first election he won 37%, on the next he dropped to 31% a fact that Goebbels viewed as a complete disaster). This Mexican guy will run true to Lefty form and try to seize power from the streets.

  7. He’ll have all the moral support the democracked party in the U.S. can muster but i’m not sure the greedy bas****s will turn loose of any dollars.

  8. Since Gore, unlike Obrador, did concede defeat why are you dragging him into this?
