Ted Cruz Sings Trump’s Praises

Filed under: General — Dana @ 9:13 am

[guest post by Dana]

While recent polls show Ted Cruz in a seriously tight race with challenger Rep. Beto O’Rourke for his Senate seat, the Senator is also in the news for having penned a blurb for TIME magazine’s “100 Most Influential People” edition. Surprisingly, the subject was none other than… President Donald Trump:

President Trump is a flash-bang grenade thrown into Washington by the forgotten men and women of America. The fact that his first year as Commander in Chief disoriented and distressed members of the media and political establishment is not a bug but a feature.

The same cultural safe spaces that blinkered coastal elites to candidate Trump’s popularity have rendered them blind to President Trump’s achievements on behalf of ordinary Americans. While pundits obsessed over tweets, he worked with Congress to cut taxes for struggling families. While wealthy celebrities announced that they would flee the country, he fought to bring back jobs and industries to our shores. While talking heads predicted Armageddon, President Trump’s strong stand against North Korea put Kim Jong Un back on his heels.

President Trump is doing what he was elected to do: disrupt the status quo. That scares the heck out of those who have controlled Washington for decades, but for millions of Americans, their confusion is great fun to watch.

In spite of the ugliness that Trump dished out to Cruz and his family during the campaign, Cruz nonetheless ended up endorsing Trump in the election (without Trump having made any public apologies). So at this point in time, nothing Cruz says about Trump should really come as a surprise. Even so, this was for me.

PS: Of course, given that TIME’s “Leaders” list includes the President of the United States, Prince Harry’s fiancee, actress Meghan Markle, a couple of talk show hosts and Sean Hannity sort of speaks volumes…

  1. Good morning.

    Dana (023079)

  2. President Trump’s achievements on behalf of ordinary Americans

the snotty social-positioning what we keep seeing

the prissiness of harvardtrash like bill kristol

    they completely miss this

President Trump has had a measurable impact on the lives of real people

    but ick the aesthetics

good for Mr. Cruz; the succinct way he targeted this message, I’m persuaded he genuinely gets it

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  3. Cruz praises Trump: minorities, women, children and anti-Trump Texans hardest hit.

    Colonel Haiku (46f395)

  4. the ugliness that Trump dished out to Cruz and his family during the campaign

to buy into this you have to elide how Cruz-aligned trashbag Liz Mair was mailing naked pictures of melania to utah housewives

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  5. As I commented at The Jury:

This is disappointing. I’m sure Cruz has convinced himself he can’t do good/conservative things unless he wins, but every politician thinks that. That’s why, over time, they lose their principles. We’re seeing that happen in real time with Cruz.

I understand Trump won but that means Cruz should focus on being a Senator, not a potential President. If he can’t do that, then he needs to go back to being a Supreme Court lawyer.

Any bets who will be happiest if Cruz loses — the left or happyfeet? I say happyfeet by a mile. Or maybe Trump. He never met a weak Republican he couldn’t hate or a strong Democrat he couldn’t love.

    DRJ (15874d)

  6. nonono i want ted to win

he’s one of the better senators, which isn’t saying a whole lot, but he’s making a positive contribution there

he hasn’t been very outspoken though so far about the coup the dirty sleazy FBI is trying to pull off

and that’s not to his credit

    it belies his “principled” image

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  7. Of course he did. Cruz proved he was submissive to Trump with the 2016 endorsement. Now he apparently thinks he needs the Trumpista base to hold his seat.

So again, just a whiny, craven follower who lacks the courage of his apparent convictions trying to keep his job.

  8. He understands the battle against the left. It’s why I supported Cruz for President and support him now.

No ivory tower in his world.

  9. When Ted Cruz told it like it is (May 3, 2016):

This morning, Donald Trump went on national television and attacked my father.

Donald Trump alleges that my dad was involved in assassinating JFK. Now, let’s be clear. This is nuts. This is not a reasonable position. This is just kooky. And while I’m at it, I guess I should go ahead and admit, yes, my dad killed JFK, he is secretly Elvis, and Jimmy Hoffa is buried in his backyard.

You know, Donald’s source for this is “The National Enquirer.” “The National Enquirer” is tabloid trash. But it’s run by his good friend David Pecker, the CEO, who has endorsed Donald Trump. And so “The National Enquirer” has become his hit piece that he uses to smear anybody and everybody.

And this is not the first time Donald Trump has used David Pecker’s “National Enquirer” to go after my family. It was also “The National Enquirer” that went after my wife, Heidi, that just spread lies, blatant lies.

But I guess Donald was dismayed, because it was a couple of weeks ago “The Enquirer” wrote this idiotic story about JFK. And Donald was dismayed that the folks in the media weren’t repeating this latest idiocy, so he figured he would have to do it himself. He would have to go on national television and accuse my dad of that.

Listen, my father is has been my hero my whole life. My dad was imprisoned and tortured in Cuba. And when he came to America, he had nothing. He had $100 in his underwear. He washed dishes making 50 cents an hour. You know, he is exactly the kind of person Donald Trump looks down on.

I’m going to do something I haven’t done for the entire campaign. For those of you all who have traveled with me all across the country, I’m going to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump.

This man is a pathological liar. He doesn’t know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth. And in a pattern that I think is straight out of a psychology textbook, his response is to accuse everybody else of lying.

He accuses everybody on that debate stage of lying. And it’s simply a mindless yell. Whatever he does, he accuses everyone else of doing. The man cannot tell the truth, but he combines it with being a narcissist, a narcissist at a level I don’t think this country’s ever seen.

Donald Trump is such a narcissist that Barack Obama looks at him and goes, dude, what’s your problem? Everything in Donald’s world is about Donald. And he combines being a pathological liar — and I say pathological because I actually think Donald, if you hooked him up to a lie detector test, he could say one thing in the morning, one thing at noon, and one thing in the evening, all contradictory, and he would pass the lie detector test each time.

Whatever lie he’s telling, at that minute, he believes it. But the man is utterly amoral.

    Let me finish this, please.

The man is utterly amoral. Morality does not exist for him. It’s why he went after Heidi directly and smeared my wife, attacked her. Apparently, she’s not pretty enough for Donald Trump. I may be biased, but I think, if he’s making that allegation, he is also legally blind.

But Donald is a bully. You know, we just visited with fifth-graders. Every one of us knew bullies in elementary school. Bullies don’t come from strength. Bullies come from weakness. Bullies come from a deep, yawning cavern of insecurity. There’s a reason Donald builds giant buildings and puts his name on them everywhere he goes.

And I will say there are millions of people in this country who are angry. They’re angry at Washington. They’re angry at politicians who have lied to them. I understand that anger. I share that anger. And Donald is cynically exploiting that anger. And he is lying to his supporters.

Donald will betray his supporters on every issue. If you care about immigration, Donald is laughing at you. And he’s telling the moneyed elites he doesn’t believe what he’s saying, he’s not going to build a wall. That’s what he told “The New York Times.”

He will betray you on every issue across the board. And his strategy of being a bully in particular is directed as women. Donald has a real problem with women. People who are insecure, people who are insecure about who they are — Donald is terrified by strong women.

He lashes out at them. Remember, this is the same Donald Trump who last week here in Indiana proudly touted the endorsement from Mike Tyson, a convicted rapist who served three years in prison here in Indiana for raping a 17-year-old girl. And in Donald’s world, he said Mike Tyson was a tough guy.

I don’t think rapists are tough guys. I spent a lot of years in law enforcement dealing with rapists. Rapists are weak. They’re cowards and they’re bullies. And anyone that thinks they’re a tough guy, that reveals everything about Donald Trump’s character.

Donald Trump said Bill Clinton was targeted by unattractive women. You know what? I have been blessed to be surrounded by strong women my entire life.

Today’s voting day here in Indiana. The president of the United States has a bully pulpit unlike anybody else. The president of the United States affects our culture. I ask the people of Indiana, think about the next five years if this man were to become president.

Think about the next five years, the boasting, the pathological lying, the picking up “The National Enquirer” and accusing people of killing JFK, the bullying. Think about your kids coming back and emulating this.

For people in Indiana who long for a day when we were nice to each other, when we treated people with respect, when we didn’t engage in sleaze and lies — and I would note one of the lies he engages in, listen, Donald Trump is a serial philanderer, and he boasts about it. This is not a secret. He’s proud of being a serial philanderer.

I want everyone to think about your teenage kids. The president of the United States talks about how great it is to commit adultery, and how proud he is, describes his battles with venereal disease as his own personal Vietnam. That’s a quote, by the way, on the Howard Stern show.

Do you want to spend the next five years with your kids bragging about infidelity? Now, what does he do? He does the same projection. Just like a pathological liar, he accuses everyone of lying. Even though he boasts about his infidelity, he plants in David Pecker’s “National Enquirer” a lie about me and my family, attacking my family. He accuses others of doing what he is doing. I will tell you, as the father of two young girls, the idea of our daughters coming home and repeating any word that man says horrifies me.

That is not who America is. And I would say to the Hoosier State, the entire country’s depending on you. The entire country is looking to you right now. It is only Indiana that can pull us back. It is only the good sense and good judgment of Indiana that can pull us back. We are staring at the abyss.

    He was right.

    Every. Freaking. Word.

    And they didn’t listen.

In the Texas governor’s race, Republican incumbent Gov. Greg Abbott tops former Dallas County Sheriff Lupe Valdez 49 – 40 percent and leads entrepreneur Andrew White 48 – 41 percent.

Voters approve 54 – 33 percent of the job Gov. Abbott is doing and give him a 51 – 33 percent favorability. His challengers are largely unknown as 65 percent don’t know enough about Valdez to form an opinion of her and 72 percent don’t know enough about White.

“Gov. Greg Abbott has a modest lead over each of the two people vying for the Democratic nomination. But what is significant is that governors with 54 percent job approval ratings rarely lose,” Brown said.

Cruz lead voters to believe he was anything but a typical politician. He consistently stood upon his principles, he didn’t cave to establishment R’s, etc. He stood out and that’s why Conservatives saw him as a pol who unwaveringly represented their interests. That he has evolved into a “typical” politician is disappointing.

  64. “One of the central problems of liberalism is that its operating dogmas sooner or later collide with each other. Take the way antitrust operated for decades: if you charged the same price as your competitors, you were guilty of collusion and price-fixing. But if you charged less than your competitors, you were guilty of predatory pricing. (Indeed this is exactly how antitrust investigations began decades ago before we came to our senses.) Or take bank lending: if a bank doesn’t lend to the urban poor and minorities, it is guilty of “red-lining.” But if a bank does lend to poor and minority customers who default at high rates (as happened in 2008), then you’re guilty of predatory lending.

And don’t even get me started on Starbucks. They deserve every bit of pain they have invited by their proud virtue signaling of the last few years. Anyone remember Starbucks’s “talk about race campaign” from a few years ago? If they start serving popcorn, I might wander by.

The great thing about being a liberal is the permanent state of cognitive dissonance it allows. Instead of pondering these kind of contradictions and perhaps, in good Marxist fashion, reaching some kind of new synthesis, liberals just dust themselves off and move on as though nothing has happened.”

  71. Trump’s attack on Heidi Cruz and her appearance was viciously personal and particularly low.

actually it was very impersonal and light-hearted he just retweeted this meme and said “A picture is worth a thousand words” and there were two pictures

one of them was an unflattering pic of Heidi (obviously unflattering) and the other pic was a picture of President Trump’s beautiful wife Melania Trump

and everyone had a good laugh cause it was so funny how grimacey Heidi looked and how pretty Melania looked

and Heidi was all like lol that’s not a very good picture of me Donald – shame on you!

and Donald was like I know we picked a bad one on purpose!

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  98. I read your post again, Dana, and I still don’t get it. Every last word Cruz uttered was true. Sure, there are other things he could have said that would also be true, but what is the point of gratuitously attacking a politician of your own party? The 11th Commandment applies.

Does the fact that Cruz isn’t carrying a grudge make you think less of him? Does his clear acceptance of the election results make him a bad person (and, therefore, is refusing to transfer power to Trump, as the Democrats are attempting, a virtue?)?

Would I prefer a President Cruz, you betcha. Or a half dozen others. Pretty sure Cruz would, too. But he’s not going to join the opposition just to get even for a slight.

  99. Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) said Thursday that she will support President Trump’s nomination of CIA Director Mike Pompeo as secretary of State, virtually guaranteeing he will win confirmation.

Heitkamp, who faces a difficult reelection race this fall in a state Trump won by double-digits, becomes the first Senate Democrat to announce her support for Pompeo.

    http://thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/383990-heitkamp-to-support-pompeo-for-secretary-of-state

It appears that Heitkamp(D) thinks the independents(I) are swayed by her being on the Trump(R) Train.

How can Trump(R) be a negative for Cruz(R)?

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  100. Um, what is Cruz saying that is untrue?

Attributing leadership to Trump when he doesn’t even have a clue what’s in the bills he signs is pretty disingenuous, but it’s really what Cruz isn’t saying (that he said clearly back in May 2016) that outs him as an unprincipled hypocrite.

    Dave (445e97)

  101. Dave, you know, you can donate all those Pataki4Prez shirts to the Philippines.

    random viking (6a54c2)

  102. How can Trump(R) be a negative for Cruz(R)?

    Texas Independents:

    O’Rourke: 51%
    Cruz: 37%

    Approve Trump: 28%
    Disapprove Trump: 64%

Supporting Trump is Factor in Senate Vote: 13%
Opposing Trump is Factor in Senate Vote: 32%
    Trump Not Important Factor: 51%

    Dave (445e97)

  103. I suspect Allahpundit is right though, and Cruz will end up winning fairly comfortably.

Rourke’s approval/disapproval in that poll was 40/13, with 47% saying they don’t know enough about him to express an opinion. So he is an unknown to almost half the voters.

Cruz still has six months to educate people about O’Rourke’s very liberal positions, and as he does, the numbers will move accordingly.

    Dave (445e97)

  104. Texas Independents are showing they have schiff for brains is trending…

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

  106. it’s really what Cruz isn’t saying (that he said clearly back in May 2016) that outs him as an unprincipled hypocrite.

No, it outs him as a member of a political party. That he disagrees with you does not mean he has no principles. I disagree with you a lot. I just have other principles. Such as sticking with a political party that TENDS to favor things I want. Sometimes it favors them more than other times. If I pick and choose when I will support it, then I’m the hypocrite. The Summertime Soldier.

Patterico washes his hands of the Republicans for picking Trump. Been there, done that (with Dole). Didn’t work. To me, THIS is the time to be MORE involved, not less. When the time comes for correction, the Bill Kristols of the world are not going to have a seat at the table.

    Cruz knows this.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  108. LOL. Trustworthy poll.

Yes. Are Independents really the bigger bloc in Texas? Registered voters only 31% Republican? 10% were registered but didn’t know which party? Boy, I bet THEY are likely voters.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  109. narciso keeps leaving comments in moderation. At the end of each one, I say:

I really wanted him to simply do that immediately so I could reinstate him immediately, but he is totally oblivious. So I think I will just give him a one-month vacation, starting whenever I moderated him, and let that serve as the punishment for the false accusation he made. He doesn’t seem willfully obstinate, just supremely oblivious. One month is enough.

Ultimately, I don’t care about a seat at the table. I say what I think and that’s the end of it. These days that makes a lot of people cry. That’s their issue, not mine. Patterico (115b1f)

  113. Kevin M,

Cruz can certainly say Trump is a lying immoral bully during the campaign, and then a year later applaud Trump’s accomplishments as if he thinks Trump is swell. Maybe he believes everything he said about Trump, but it doesn’t make Cruz seem realistic to me. It makes Cruz seem manipulative and devious because he will change how he presents his opinions depending on his political needs — something he can ill afford to highlight if he wants to be thought of as principled and trustworthy.

That may only matter to some Texans, but I think there are Texans who notice and care. We’ll see how many next November — maybe not enough to make Cruz lose the election, but I suspect his home state Presidential financing has taken a hit.

    DRJ (15874d)

  114. Are you going to withhold your vote for Cruz, DRJ?

I remember how upset you said you were when you realized Trump had deceived you 25% of the way through his term. You seem more upset at Cruz.

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  115. I do not plan to vote again unless I see someone I think is worth voting for. I won’t vote for Cruz or Trump.

    DRJ (15874d)

  116. But I am not more upset at Cruz. He is weak but Trump is an immoral fool.

  117. Correction: A lying immoral fool.

  118. But I am not more upset at Cruz. He is weak but Trump is an immoral fool.

But you knew that about Trump.

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  119. No, I knew he was immoral but I did not know he was an habitual liar or a fool incapable of keeping his promise to act more Presidential. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt but now I know better.

From the start of the primaries through almost all the debates. “I can change. I can change! I can change!” A constant mantra.

I only watched snippets of his debates with Hillary. Critical mass of loathsome. So I can’t say he chanted it there.

    nk (dbc370)

  126. Thank you DRJ, for being you.

    Tillman (a95660)

  127. He broke it everyday including before the primary?

I don’t understand why you voted for him. Seems a bit careless.

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  128. I should have said “since the primaries.”

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  129. I explained it already. I gave Trump the benefit of the doubt that he would change his behavior from campaign mode to being Presidential as he promised to do, but he did not.

    DRJ (15874d)

  130. Careless is an unusual word to pick. Why did you?

    DRJ (15874d)

  131. Before I thought you gave him the benefit of the doubt to have the wall done in one year in that 25/75 concerned comment.

I guess now it is you felt betrayed by someone you knew was immoral.

I could see where that would leave a mark.

  134. I’ll leave here something posted on my music forum

I think it would be hard for a con-man and swindler to act presidential for any sustained time period. I suppose that it’s to Trump’s credit that he hasn’t tried to act presidential; it’s not in him.

  135. Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. — Matthew 7:1-2

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye. — Matthew 7:3-5

Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven: — Luke 6:37

Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. — John 8:15

Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. — James 4:11

There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another? — James 4:12

Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God. — 1 Corinthians 4:5

Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. — Romans 2:1

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way. — Romans 14:10-13

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

  136. I do not judge what will happen to Trump’s soul, or Cruz’s. That is what the Bible is talking about, Haiku.

BuDuh, I knew that Trump was immoral. It disappoints me and I pray he will lead a more Christian life, but I am not responsible for his poor lifestyle choices just because I voted for him. But now I also know he lies and will continue lying when it benefits him. I won’t help him do that.

    DRJ (15874d)

  137. I am surprised you just figured it out.

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  138. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. — James 4:11

  139. If you are saying you identified and understood Trump’s flaws, did you vote for him anyway?

    DRJ (15874d)

  140. I identified and understood his positive attributes. Then I voted for him.

    BuDuh (06f70e)

  141. OK. What did you identify as his positive attributes?

    DRJ (15874d)

  142. He punches back.

  144. Nunes, Gowdy, Goodlatte take the starch out of Comey.

These memos also lay bare the notion that former Director Comey is not motivated by animus. He was willing to work for someone he deemed morally unsuited for office, capable of lying, requiring of personal loyalty, worthy of impeachment, and sharing the traits of a mob boss. Former Director Comey was willing to overlook all of the aforementioned characteristics in order to keep his job. In his eyes, the real crime was his own firing.

  147. I was pissed about Dole (and McCain, and…) but come on. Trump is another level.

Trump believes more things I agree with than Dole did. Probably McCain, too. Won’t hear about campaign finance reform out of Trump.

Is he another level, or just a dial turned up to 11? Looking at it another way, he is able to get people to listen to what he says, which is an asset usually. If I have any real problem with Trump is that he’s incompetent as a politician and a boor. Own goals, unforced errors, opportunities missed with abandon. I would do a better job, and that SCARES me.

But he’s not Vlad the Impaler or whatever scare story some would make him out to be. I’d trade him for nearly anyone in Sacramento.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  148. Newly released memos show only what Comey wrote down. He might have been on acid. That he wrote this stuff down does not make it Truth.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  149. We have here a man who has repeatedly said “Putin might have something on Trump”, which is just about as irresponsible a comment anyone could make. That the Democrats want it to be true does not make it so. He has other fever dreams. He wrote some of them down. Meh. He has no credibility with me.

But I guess if your Hate-O-Meter is pegged in the Blue zone, it will seem like papal revelation. Whatever.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  150. It makes Cruz seem manipulative and devious because he will change how he presents his opinions depending on his political needs

Again, DRJ, he has different principles. In a two-party system, putting party before self is NOT unprincipled. It’s a realistic appraisal of the political state of affairs and what you call “manipulative and devious” he would call “rational” and “smart.”

Unlike you or me, he IS a politician, and therefore political needs mean more to him. I’m an engineer, so to me numbers and physics are more important than to the average person, and if I were to ignore them — for any reason — I would be unprincipled. FOr Cruz to ignore political reality would be an equal affront to his trade.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  151. I do not plan to vote again unless I see someone I think is worth voting for. I won’t vote for Cruz or Trump.

And this I will call unprincipled. You pretend that this isn’t a two-party system. You pretend there is no basis for choice. But you know there is. You know that it is STILL better that Trump was chosen over Hillary.

How you can deny the truth, stick your head in the sand, and call it principle is beyond me.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  152. Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge. — James 4:11

You know that James is one of the most appealed apostles right?

    Pinandpuller (a0c022)

  153. You know that it is STILL better that Trump was chosen over Hillary.

With a GOP congress, it’s far from clear to me that electing a toxic, immoral and ineffective Republican president is necessarily better than electing a toxic, immoral and ineffective Democrat president.

Obama accomplished nothing in his last six years; Hillary – unlikeable, in poor health, scandal-plagued, and with no ideas – would have accomplished even less. And the Democrats would have had the 35% approval albatross around their necks instead of the GOP.

Politics has a time horizon longer than four years.

The Democrats thought electing Jimmy Carter in 1976 was great; but he was weak and ineffective, accomplished nothing, and it bought them 12 consequential years of Reagan and Bush.

    Dave (445e97)

  154. This posting warms my heart. Why? Because the man Patterico LOVES (“I love this man.“) was man enough to see the good in Trump and eventually climb aboard the train despite his earlier sworn enemy status. Gravy that Pat can’t bring himself to write posts like this like a sulking child, and pawns them off to contributors. Dessert with whip cream topping that he then can’t help himself from commenting in the comment section despite handing down the edict eons ago that FROM NOW ON, he will not be commenting on any more posts with Trump in the title.

Rage! rage! against the dying of the light.

Sadly, sweet, sweet, schadenfreude is the only reason to come here anymore. Thankfully, it’s a labor of love.

  155. Good news, guys. California wants to ban the Bible:

It’s interesting, for example, that Chait makes the argument just as the California State Assembly is set to vote on a bill that would actually — among other things — ban the sale of books expressing orthodox Christian beliefs about sexual morality.

Yes, ban the sale of books.

Assembly Bill 2943 would make it an “unlawful business practice” to engage in “a transaction intended to result or that results in the sale or lease of goods or services to any consumer” that advertise, offer to engage in, or do engage in “sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.”

The bill then defines “sexual orientations change efforts” as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” (Emphasis added.)

This is extraordinarily radical. Christian orthodoxy is simple — regardless of a person’s desires (their “orientation”), the standard of right conduct is crystal clear. Sex is reserved for marriage between a man and a woman. When it comes to “gender expression,” there is no difference between “sex” and “gender,” and the Christian response to gender dysphoria is compassion and treatment, not indulgence and surgical mutilation.

Put another way, there is a fundamental difference between temptation and sin. California law would intrude directly on this teaching by prohibiting even the argument that regardless of sexual desire, a person’s sexual behavior should conform to Biblical standards.

Let’s go over to the newsroom for Dave’s reaction. Dave, how are all these annoying Christians overreacting once again?

    (28) Advertising, offering to engage in, or engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with an individual.

The full definition of sexual orientation change efforts is:

    (i) (1) “Sexual orientation change efforts” means any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.

Nothing about banning books. Nothing about the Bible. If the bill passes, it will be unlawful to advertise or provide a service that purports to change a person’s sexual orientation.

  162. OT and a couple days late:

The anniversary of the Doolittle Raid on Japan was Wednesday, when the Japanese PM was at Mar-a-Lago watching Trump cheat at golf. Mar-a-Lago is across the state from Florida’s Eglin Auxiliary Field, where Doolittle’s men practiced B-25 take-offs from a runway with a painted box the size of an aircraft carrier’s flight deck.

The Hornet carried the 16 B-25’s, with the carrier Enterprise providing air support. Surprise was essential because loss of either carrier would have been catastrophic. The raiders had to take off 200 miles farther from Japan than planned when the task force was spotted by a small Japanese vessel, giving them even less fuel to reach airfields in China after dropping their bombs.

A couple days late, but worth remembering the ballsy aviators who were brave enough to volunteer for a virtual suicide mission that raised morale in the dark months after Pearl Harbor, and may have goaded the Japanese into launching their next offensives prematurely. In the next six weeks, the US won victories at Coral Sea and Midway that turned the tide of the war against Japan for good.

Out of the 80 men who took off and bombed Japan on April 18, 3 were KIA and 4 more died in Japanese captivity (one was starved to death, three others were executed).

One survivor of the raid, Doolittle’s co-pilot Col. Richard E. Cole, is still alive (age 102). /salute

“sexual orientations change efforts” as “any practices that seek to change an individual’s sexual orientation. This includes efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex.” (Emphasis added.)

Does taht include efforts to prevent people from conntinuing to be pedophiles?

Or is that somehow not to be considered a sexual orientation? It’s bad, so it is not a sexual oprientation. So the problem doesn’t exist. Shades of Mahmoud Ahmad.

California would not jut outlaw fraud, and a lot of that could be fraud, but any possibility of anyone coming up with something that works.

By the way if this is fraud, isn’t much of drug addition treatnment fraud too?

  189. It’s really amazing how condescending and snotty you virtuous people can be. You flaunt your supposed virtue of not voting for Trump but Trump is the only person who ran in the general election that could defeat Hillary. So what you actually did was surrender your Civic Duty as an American to vote for the better person running for President. And you think that is a virtue? It’s your Failure as an American citizen. You think it’s a virtue to not vote or to throw away your vote on a person who can’t win? It’s a smack in the face to all the previous Americans who fought and died so you could have and retain the right to vote. So don’t sit there and pat yourselves on the back for being virtuous people because people like you could have let Hillary win. That means in my opinion you demonstrate less virtue than a Hillary voter. At least they did what they believed to be right while you surrendered to your own pomposity. At least they cared while you did not. You didn’t even care enough to vote against her.

Then you run around calling people who voted for Trump all kinds of names and make all kinds of snide remarks and innuendos. I guess calling us names is the only way you can reinforce your phony virtue among yourselves. You still can’t even admit that the best man running actually won the election. Or would you rather have Hillary or even Sanders? You sit around talking and acting virtuous while the rest of us do the heavy lifting and get called names for it. Just like the people who ran to Canada when I went to Vietnam. After the war they come back and get amnesty and strut around like they have virtue. They have no virtue they’re f*****g cowards.

Trump could turn out to be a great President or a lousy President, I have no crystal ball. I do know what Hillary would have been because she’s a filthy leftist and grifter. I voted accordingly and you guys weaseled out. So whether one carries a “Hell no, I won’t go” sign or wears a pink pussy hat they are all cowards and don’t deserve to breathe American air.

  191. IOW, the law doesn’t “ban” the Bible, just the reading and meaning of it being preached by Christians. Or as I call it: Communism. Your boys never sleep Comrade Dave.

No, Hoagie. The law bars the commercial advertising or sale of a service that purports to change someone’s sexual orientation. Because there is abundant evidence that:

    1) it is not possible to change someone’s sexual orientation, and
    2) trying to do so is harmful to the person in question

In other words, selling a product that doesn’t do what it is advertised to do, and is harmful to the person using it.

The Bible is not marketed or sold as a sexual-orientation changing product or service, ergo, it would not fall under the law.

Religious counseling or sermons, which are not advertised or offered for sale as commercial activity, would also not fall under the law.

If a church (or anyone else) said “pay us $100 and we’ll make your gay child straight”, that would fall under the law and be illegal.

If a church (or anyone else) said “pay us $100 and we’ll resurrect your dead grandmother,” that too would be fradulent and illegal.

There is no evidence that a person’s sexual orientation can be changed, anymore than there is evidence that dead people can be resurrected on demand.

Do you think that bearing false witness is wrong, Hoagie? If so, why do you do it so often?

If you don’t find your validation in Trump’s presidency, you won’t find it in his opponents or detractors – so stop seeking it from them so vociferously.

It wasn’t yet reported that it was used by the FBI to provide a substantial basis to wiretap at least one Trump affiliate despite the fact it was unverified. It wasn’t yet reported that the product was bought and paid for as a Hillary Clinton campaign operation, or that it was secretly funded by the DNC using a law firm as a pass-through to hide its provenance in federal campaign filings. It wasn’t yet reported that its author’s working relationship with the FBI was terminated because he had lied to the agency about how he wouldn’t talk to the media.

“After nearly a year of wrangling, the seven memos written by Comey were finally handed over on Thursday to Congress, which oversees the operation and funding of the FBI and the Department of Justice (DOJ). The memos purport to show Comey’s version of his interactions with the president before Comey was fired last May. According to Daniel Richman, the original recipient of Comey’s leaks who now claims to be his personal attorney, Comey gave him four memos. Four of the seven memos are classified, meaning that at least one of the memos he leaked was classified. By his own account, Comey orchestrated these leaks to the media in order to launch an aggressive special counsel to avenge his firing by Trump in May 2017. The memos given to Congress on Thursday were quickly leaked to the media.”

Allowing the repatriation of money at reasonable tax rates is fueling the stock market, which is a leading economic indicator. I expect 5% growth over the next several years, maybe more.

The tariffs are quite a different thing, aimed at various purposes. There are the cynical steel tariffs, aimed at keeping a few Senate seats. There are the tariffs targeted at China, aimed at getting them to change BEHAVIOR, which is an entirely different thing. Note also that China has no good way to respond — slapping tariffs on commodities is useless. Something they have recently discovered, and are now attempting to change untargeted behavior, hoping to avoid the major change (not stealing patents).

It’s not virtue, but it is a reasonable tactic to avoid casting a vote for someone you despise, even if you despise them a bit less than the other choice.

Why? Because at times NONE OF THE ABOVE is a valid message. The 19% who voted for Perot in 1992 were not “throwing away their vote”, they were saying that deficits were unacceptable. And shortly thereafter the budget was (briefly) balanced and a number of reforms occurred (welfare and farm subsidies to name two).

There are countless psychiatric patients whose sense of sexual orientation is, at best, confused. Their sexual behavior is influenced by things unrelated to any organic preference, and without therapy they might continue in a pathology that could be treated. This cuts both ways, btw.

They have this need to inject guesses (as though they are facts) endlessly, and a need to ignore facts as ‘fake.’ It’s a very insecure way to be, and I question why anyone remains a republican. The only reason I can think of is that for many years, being conservative meant hating democrats, and over time it’s become clear that that act of partisanship was more harmful to conservatism than the actual democrats were.

The same people who try to muddy the waters about how anti conservative the GOP is are the ones who are the most guilty for our nation not finding the solutions to its problems. They want to deflect to partisanship, to how terrible democrats are, as though that’s relevant at all. No kidding the liberal party isn’t conservative. So what? The ‘conservative’ party conned us into liberalism. That’s where the problem is. Don’t want huge horrible deficit spending? Well vote for Trump and he’ll make the deficit skyrocket anyway.

If you ask your taxi driver to take a right, but he takes a left, it’s not the left fork’s fault. It’s the driver’s fault. It’s not the liberal party that needs fixing.

Furthermore, the need of folks like this viking troll to tell us Trump has never done anything immoral in a political campaign, or that those who are suspicious of Trump’s actions with respect to Russia are clueless, is blatant shilling propaganda.

The democrats won their lawsuit against the republicans in Watergate, and then the democrats did many of those same sins over again. All the way up to Lois Lerner, we saw ruthless democrats violating our rights. But Trump’s campaign benefited greatly from russian exposure of dirt about Hillary. Many republicans cheer this, and I actually get that idea, but it’s not that unlike Watergate and the lawsuit offers some interesting problems for the GOP today.

You have been the party of Gerald Ford for too long. The party with no conscience. Ted Cruz seemed like a different sort of man, but he is another Gerald Ford. Maybe I’ll vote for him, but maybe I’ll just get a hot dog and walk my dog instead. Maybe the GOP should lose every election until this nation fixes what’s really wrong, which isn’t that democrats do what they say tell voters they will do (spend us into collapse).

No, the economy was already well into recovery by the 1992 election. It has posted 6 consecutive quarters of GDP growth. The economy did go through a very mild recession in 1991, one of the mildest on records. But to say it was tanking at the time of the 1992 election is badly mistaken.

She was almost cerftainly killed by an opioid overdose, (considering the state of her liver at the time)

Drinking some bourbon (alcohol) didn’t help.

Alcohol is known to increase the possibility of fatal overdoses.

    https://americanaddictioncenters.org/alcoholism-treatment/mixing-opiates/

Mixing Alcohol and Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, or Morphine Can Be Deadly

….Alcohol can enhance the sedative effects of opioid medications, leading to increased drowsiness, and it can eventually lead the person to fall asleep and be unable to wake up.

If a person takes these two substances together, both alcohol and the opioid medications can slow down the person’s breathing rate. Without enough oxygen, the brain will begin to shut down organ systems, and the person can eventually suffer brain damage or death due to lack of oxygen.

An individual who mixes these drugs can also fall into a coma, stop breathing, and die.

COMPANY NEWS; TRUMP’S PLAZA HOTEL BANKRUPTCY PLAN APPROVEDNYT, December 12, 1992

A Federal bankruptcy judge yesterday approved a prepackaged bankruptcy plan for Donald J. Trump’s Plaza Hotel, giving a 49 percent stake in the luxury hotel to Citibank and five other lenders. Under the plan, Mr. Trump will still be employed as chief executive but he will not be paid and will not have a role in day-to-day operations, said Matthew Feldman, a lawyer representing the Trump Organization.

The hotel was unable to meet its debt service payments and filed for bankruptcy protection on Nov. 2, [1992.] Lawyers said Mr. Trump would continue to work on marketing plans for the Fifth Avenue hotel, which overlooks Central Park in midtown Manhattan. The lenders, which include the Industrial Bank of Japan, will take control of the hotel in exchange for giving more favorable terms to Mr. Trump on more than $550 million in debt on the hotel. The plan was approved by United States Bankruptcy Judge Prudence Abram.

  299. We all get to see how DCSCA operates: with half-truths and hand-waving.

Here is a direct quote from the page he cited (emphasis mine):

Previously, the committee had determined that the economy reached a peak of activity in July 1990. The eight-month period between July 1990 and March 1991 is a recession in the NBER’s chronology. The committee thus determined that the recession ended in March 1991 and that an expansion began at that time.

The committee had waited to make the determination of the trough date until it was confident that any future downturn in the economy would be considered a new recession and not a continuation of the recession that began in July 1990. The committee noted that the broadest measure of economic activity — gross domestic product in constant dollars — had finally surpassed its previous peak by the third quarter of 1992. Only by December did the overall pattern of economic activity appear to be strong enough to warrant the determination of the trough date.

But DCSCA cited only the last sentence of the second paragraph, in attempt to show that the economy was somehow failing in November of 1992. He had to have seen that the economy started expanding after March, 1991 — it was right there in the page he cited. So, he’s being deliberately false by leaving that information off his quote.

I, and others, have shown repeated that the economy wasn’t tanking in November, 1992. But DCSCA keeps lying about it.

I don’t have a problem with liberals in general. I know several that are intelligent, thoughtful people, and we are friends despite our disagreements on government. But DCSCA is neither intelligent nor thoughtful: he is deceitful and weak-minded.

    See #290, Chuckie-wuckie.

Then take it up with President Trump. You’ve been tagged and bagged, chump.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  303. @295. NYC was claimed by the left to be ungovernable until Rudy Giuliani turned it around.

Gestapo Rudy or Drag Queen Rudy? Lots of people lived through it– not just you.

Some think they know. More know better.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  304. 294.I wonder what Trump told the banks when he borrowed all of those millions. After he convinced Forbes to publish that he was worth hundreds of millions, would he then have admitted to bankers that he was worth a fraction of that?

He owed so much he was too big to fail. Sound familiar?

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  305. @298. Don’t be a boob, nitwit. Your own citations proves my point. Gee, why does it snow in April when winter officially ends in March? Why is gas $2.99/gal. nationally yet $5/gallon in California? Why is a 12 room house and an acre of land $50,000 in Allegheny County PA and $850,000 in Orange County, CA? You are simply not dealing in reality. You know, like Trump did: when the economy you try to spin as good was still in the tank in pockets all over the place– like the Northeast:

Bankruptcies: Trump’s Castle and Trump Plaza Casinos (1992): Less than a year after the Taj Mahal bankruptcy Trump filed for Chapter 11 protection again for two more Atlantic City hotel-casinos, the Trump Plaza and Trump’s Castle, over their inability to make principal and interest payments on bonds. The Plaza ($550 million in debt) and the Castle ($338 million in debt) were competing against each other, as well as against the Taj Mahal, and Trump gave up a 50% share in exchange for more favorable terms on the debts.

Trump Plaza Hotel (1992): Donald Trump filed for bankruptcy protection a third time in 1992 over the Trump Plaza Hotel on New York’s famous Fifth Avenue, overlooking Central Park in midtown Manhattan. Once again, Trump gave up a 49% stake in the property to secure more favorable terms from lenders on the luxury hotel’s debt of more than $550 million.

    Thanks for playing.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  311. It’s fascinating to reach partisan republicans these days.

You don’t get it. I view partisanship — the idea that one sticks with a team that is, generally, working in the right direction against the other team that is, generally, doing evil things — as a proud principle, not as some nasty little secret as you do.

Even now, with Trump, the GOP is doing 60% of what I like. It used to be more, but that’s the way it is right now. It has been less (e.g. the Nixon administration). On the other side of the aisle — and there are only two sides — you have a party which is hell-bent for, well, Hell. I live in California, so I have no illusions about what they want. They do it here, first.

It is totally UNprincipled to take your ball and go home when the game doesn’t go your way. The people who man up and work to fix the system are the ones with principles.

But, fine, stand up their in your ivory tower and cast all the aspersions you want.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  312. Recall, too, at that time the economy was tanking as the Reaganomics balloon was bursting on Bush’s watch.

Oh, bollocks. That is so historically illiterate as to defy my low expectations. WTF do they teach in schools?

The 1992 recession was due to the end of the Cold War as the aerospace industry retrenched in 1990-91. I know this because it was a mild recession most places, but in the place I lived (Southern California) it was deep and lasted until ’95. At the end about 6 aerospace companies that used to be based in SoCal were merged and/or moved to Atlanta. Los Angeles, which had been a two-industry town was now a one-industry town. And the leftward drift sped up.

But it had NOTHING to do with Reaganomics.

The Long Boom that started in 1982 lasted until 1999, and crashed mainly because Clinton goosed the economy to get his balanced budget. The dot-com boom was enabled by Reagan’s freeing of capital. It wasn’t until the dot-com crash that Reaganomics had its first serious test.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  313. @317- But it had NOTHING to do with Reaganomics.

Except it did- and hardly mild, K, particularly in the Northeast, far from warm and sunny SoCal’s aerospace collapse– which was feeding off recent war at the tme as well. It was Bush’s misfortune to get tagged with it.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  314. @317. Real estate collapse in the Northeast was a long way from you, K.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  315. Clinton goosed the economy yes but he flat out raped several women with his herpes penis

he overpowered them with his size, stripped their clothes off, and then he force his herpes penis into them even if they were like yeah no thank you bill

I was not there to see my Mon at the time she passed. The family had gathered there two days before, for her 96th birthday, and it was clear the end was near, but there was no way to tell which day, or even week, that would be. She had been ion hospice for almost a year. It turned out that she died two days later.

When people get the care that the Bush’s obviously gave, the decline is prolonged. I am not sure it is a blessing, as the body can take a long time to shut down, system by system, with the quality of life long gone. Even when all but palliative drugs are withheld, a person who was strong in life like Barbara Bush (or my mom) has a lot of reserves to spend.

    It’s not like the movies.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  320. Guess GHWB lost cause of that booming turn around and, oh, yes, that pesky grocery scanner.

    1. The grocery scanner video was a setup and just not true.

    2. The press was in Clinton’s corner and lied a lot, including about the economy. And see 1.

    3. And, as I said, the cause of the recession was the post-Cold-War collapse of Grumman, Rockwell, McDonald-Douglas, Lear, Ford Aerospace, GE Aerospace, Martin Marietta, and a dozen others, which were all consolidated into other firms in the early 90s. It devastated the Southern California economy, with housing prices not reaching their 1990 levels until 1998.

The ripples from this are what everyone else felt.

    Kevin M (752a26)

  321. I, and others, have shown repeated that the economy wasn’t tanking in November, 1992. But DCSCA keeps lying about it.

When someone takes a quote out of context to spin it into its opposite, they are outright lying. It’s hard to say otherwise, although abject stupidity is always a defense.

  322. @317- But it had NOTHING to do with Reaganomics.

Hunh? You assert something then argue the opposite, as if this prives your point. Or do you conflate the fall of the Soviet Union with Reaganomics?

Or, as I suspect, are you now trying to muddle the waters now that your lie is exposed?

  323. I was just watching Unearthed where they were talking about the first Chinese emperor. They thought that mercury sulfide or cinnebar was magical. California Still Reeling From Recession Blow – latimes

    articles.latimes.com/1992-06-28/business/fi-2101_1_southern-california

Jun 28, 1992 – California Still Reeling From Recession Blow … Unfortunately, the halting improvement under way outside California and the Northeast is weak-kneed at best. … Estimates vary, but California appears to have lost between 500,000 and 700,000 non-farm jobs in the downturn, which started in mid-1990.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  326. @298. Don’t be a boob, nitwit. Your own citations proves my point.

More lies. Your initial assertion was that the economy was tanking in November, 1992. You’ve been proved wrong. Your own source says that by November, 1992, the economy had been expanding for 20 months. That’s not tanking, no matter how often you lie about it.

    I’m done with you, liar.

As for your current troll, note he has never ever admitted he was wrong about anything. Enough said

I know, Simon. DCSCA will never admit he’s wrong. The conversation here can be boiled down to this:

DCSCA: The economy was tanking in November, 1992

Smarter People: No, the economy was expanding, and had been for several months at the time

DCSCA: But it’s snowing in April! And the NBER says it couldn’t place the trough date until December, 1992

Smarter People: The NBER says the recession ended in March, 1991, and the economy was expanding since.

DCSCA: But it’s snowing in April! Go ask Trump!

No facts from him, just random assertions and a lot of hand-waving. I take him about as seriously as Elizabeth Taylor took her marriage vows.

    Chuck Bartowski (211c17)

  329. This law would likely prevent psychiatrists from offering their services to, or continuing to treat, such patients.

There is an exception in the bill:

    (2) “Sexual orientation change efforts” does not include psychotherapies that: (A) provide acceptance, support, and understanding of clients or the facilitation of clients’ coping, social support, and identity exploration and development, including sexual orientation-neutral interventions to prevent or address unlawful conduct or unsafe sexual practices; and (B) do not seek to change sexual orientation.

    Dave (445e97)

  330. B kills it. 9th Amendment. Roe v. Wade and progeny. The right of the patient and doctor to diagnose and decide how to treat.

Don’t agree? Go to South Baptistan and turn it around. A law forbidding a psychiatrist to prescribe a sex change as a treatment for gender dysphoria or to “provide acceptance, support, and understanding of clients or the facilitation of clients’ coping, social support, and identity exploration and development”.

    nk (dbc370)

  331. It is totally UNprincipled to take your ball and go home when the game doesn’t go your way.

No, it is properly recognizing that there are more important principles than political principles.

    DRJ said it perfectly:

Is there anything Trump could do that would make you desert him?

If there is, then you have a moral line you won’t cross. It doesn’t matter that it is different than mine, we both have them. If there isn’t anything he could do that would make you say “Enough,” please think about what that means.

    Dave (445e97)

  332. B kills it. 9th Amendment. Roe v. Wade and progeny. The right of the patient and doctor to diagnose and decide how to treat.

Does that right extend to “quack science” which various professional organizations say is ineffective and harmful?

If a doctor advertised and performed, say, medieval-style blood leeching as a cure for cancer, would the state be unable to prohibit it?

    Dave (445e97)

  333. Atonement

    Atonement

    Atonement

Trump is on the cusp of making America a wonderful place for business, African Americans unemployment is lifting thousands upon thousands of people permanently out of poverty. Single mothers unemployment the lowest in two decades

Yeah, he slept with a lot of women. Married a lot of women, paid off a lot of women. None of which is a crime

Some people think that Trumps morality is lower than the scum bag democrats who in Connecticut disallowed teachers and administrators to carry a gun and teacher after teacher rushed a gun men died horribly so their children would have a Chance. The murderous scum bag democrats have allowed Chicago streets to run red with the blood of innocents and suppressed the police response.

The disloyal, treasonous Democrats who scrapped the navy in the 90’s to bail out their union lackeys pension plans, and then did it yet again in the Obama years again to bail out unions, hundreds of American pilots died because of this

And then we have pelosi, from a political crime family, taking away our health care, wanting to take away our money, our crumbs

Yeah I view morality a little bit different. As a sinner, who has done some things, I wish I hadn’t, my only excuse it was for the betterment of my fellow citizens, I cringe at the suggestion that we must repudiate a man who employs what 75,000 people, and may actually free 25 million people from a brutal dictatorship and help 250 million of our allies threatened by North Korea.

A president who told China your one sided economic expansion is over, join the world, or reap the whirlwind.

Yet here is stupid, a moron, immoral, a jackass

All I can say is we need more of them

    EPWJ (134698)

  334. If a doctor advertised and performed, say, medieval-style blood leeching as a cure for cancer, would the state be unable to prohibit it?

Leeches, the insect, and other forms of leeching are still used in medicine. I don’t know if they are generally accepted in the medical community as a treatment for cancer to suck out the blood which nourishes cancerous tumors. Although there are other treatments (maybe still only experimental) which purport to do that — deprive a tumor of blood and nutrients.

In my estimation, the answer to your broader question is yes. A doctor may try experimental and as yet unproven treatments if he follows the protocols and fully informs the patients. It’s done all the time, with both procedures and drugs. And they do advertise for patients to participate in the studies.

    nk (dbc370)

  335. Yes, they detest Trump, but Where. Is. The. Crime?

Meanwhile – back in the real world – the potentially criminal activities of Brennan, Clapper, Clinton, Comey, McCabe, Power, Rosenstein, etc. are well documented. Let’s continue to pull the loose thread on this widescale attempt to overturn the results of the November 2016 election and shine the brightest of spotlights on the whole, goddamned coup.

    Colonel Haiku (2601c0)

  336. Up the street from me, is a ginormous billboard advertising Vivitrol. That’s a subcutaneously implanted time-release form of naltroxone, the “antabuse” for opioids. It has little effect on reducing the craving for opioid addicts, it only keeps them from getting high when they indulge. But it works well off label on alcoholics to reduce the craving for alcohol. Should there be a law against that?

    nk (dbc370)

  337. Good points, nk.

It does seem difficult to prohibit something advertised as an experimental treatment, but typically such studies come with a disclaimer that they are not known to be safe or effective.

But victims of this hoax (pinandpuller), must now face the truth. There is indeed a penthouse in Trump Tower but the rest…. is not true. Not the square feet. Not the value. You all don’t seemed concerned how leftists manage to afford multiple million dollar abodes but a known billionaire like Trump seems to vex you. Odd.

Perhaps you’d be better served if you joined the DNC lawsuit as a concerned citizen? After all the left would file suit against each and every deplorable who voted for Trump if they could get away with it.

BTW, there are many people including tenants who lobby AGAINST sprinklers. They are ugly and ruin the look of the inlaid ceiling. Sprinklers in the halls and common areas are usually enough.
