Mission Accomplished
[Guest post by DRJ]
William A. Jacobson at Le-gal In-sur-rec-tion is relieved Frank Rich hasn’t forgotten Bush Derangement Syndrome:
“I’ve been waiting patiently, armed with foresight that one of these days Bush Derangement Syndrome would work its way into the Balloon Boy hoax story (no links on the story, if you don’t know about it, go back to your cave).
And I’ve waited. And waited. It has been almost a week. My faith tested but not broken.
Then the satisfaction of seeing my faith rewarded by none other than Frank Rich, doyen of the BDS community, guardian of the BDS crystal ball, all-knowing user of Bush as a metaphor for everything.”
Frank Rich’s quote is at the link.

Mescalero (3c420c) — 10/25/2009 @ 10:52 pmThat was a great link. Will we really be putting up with this for 4 years? I know, I know.
sybilll (d2533d) — 10/25/2009 @ 10:52 pmThe only thing sillier that Frank Rich’s connecting the balloon boy with Bush’s “victory speech” is the fact that you scoured the internet looking for it.

Mark (411533) — 10/26/2009 @ 8:54 amThis would be the same William Jacobson that obsessed about Obama’s choice of mustard?
Oh wait, I forgot, this is the Obama-had-an-ice-cream blog.
Deranged, indeed.
hip (9d1bb3) — 10/26/2009 @ 10:16 amYes, hip, that appears to be an accurate description of yourself. How does what William once wrote in any way relate to what Frank Rich wrote?
JD (ca6b04) — 10/26/2009 @ 10:37 amDefinitely the second class troll set.
SPQR (26be8b) — 10/26/2009 @ 11:16 amHow does what William once wrote in any way relate to what Frank Rich wrote?
Since he wrote something about Obama’s mustard, what Rich wrote makes sense. Can’t you think logically?
Gerald A (a66d02) — 10/26/2009 @ 11:52 amPeople, people! There is an opportunity here!
Let’s come up with our own version of “Six Degrees of Separation from Bushhitler!”
It’s fun and easy! Take any news story. Then clench your fists, furrow your brow and bring to the surface those hibernating Bush hatreds. Finally, out of whole cloth, connect said news story to Bushhitler, proving that it’s HIS FAULT!
C’mon, let’s play! I’ll start!
News story: Disney is offering refunds on the Baby Einstein videos, saying that no evidence has been found the videos improved cognitive development.
Six Degrees from George Bush: “It’s hard to fault parents for reaching to bring more intelligence to their children while they had to put up with eight years of George Bush’s stupidity and ignorance as president.”
OK! Your turn!!
BJTexs (a2cb5a) — 10/26/2009 @ 12:27 pm“CBS’ Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, “Today – Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24.”

Oh, we’re playing the Comparison Game again? Want to compare the time the two presidents have spent at their respective ranches, clearing brush and other such geopolitical necessities?
Leviticus (68eff1) — 10/26/2009 @ 2:44 pmPresident Bush golfing was a symbol of how out-of-touch he was with the public, but noting Barcky doing so during a “depression” is something silly.
JD (65ccb3) — 10/26/2009 @ 3:13 pmPoint taken, Leviticus – but you have to admit that the MSM would have been all over Bush if he had done half the things that Obama has done already. Think about it – the huge date in NYC, the ice cream thing, etc. The headlines would’ve been screaming about the new POTUS screwing around while the country’s burning.
Dmac (5ddc52) — 10/26/2009 @ 3:39 pmYeah, I agree. Malfeasance in great abundance – the media gets no pass from me.
Leviticus (0c956e) — 10/26/2009 @ 4:35 pmI’ll take on your challenge BJTexs!
From the Daily Pilot: UCI community protests cuts, fees
Six Degrees from George Bush: If Bush had not spent so much on Iraq, these struggling university students would have more access to low cost education.
Gina (d38bf6) — 10/26/2009 @ 4:54 pmSilly Leviticus …
You could at least have tried for something less relevant in the MSM’s mind, like comparing how much time President Obama has spent in a Black Liberation Theology church versus how much time president Bush has spent in a White Supremacist Theology church …
When Bush spent time at his ranch doing brush-clearing, how many US citizens were actively inconvenienced ?
Come to think of it, I wonder how many were happy to see a powerful politician doing equivalent domestic chores, like basic gardening or something equally likely to promote calm and tranquility ? And those who live in seasonal brush-fire areas are likely to be content to see a political leader being personally prudent …

Vocal Minority (b81bdd) — 10/26/2009 @ 5:14 pmGeorge W. Bush I wish he were here now, leading us. He did a very good job. It’s scary how sucky our leaders are now. Meghan’s daddy would have been just as bad as the loser we have in our White House right now I think.
happyfeet (f62c43) — 10/26/2009 @ 5:28 pm“When Bush spent time at his ranch doing brush-clearing, how many US citizens were actively inconvenienced ?”
– Alasdair
Really? That’s your rebuttal?
How many US citizens are “actively inconvenienced” by Obama playing golf? Because it’s the exact same thing, and I guarantee Bush spent more time dicking around at his ranch than Obama’s spent on a golf course.
Not that I’m eager to defend Obama, who I think is an opportunist weasel exploiting the naivete of desperate liberals; it’s just that the golf statistic is a silly one.
Leviticus (30ac20) — 10/26/2009 @ 6:26 pmI think there are better things to do than tease Leviticus about a silliness he hasn’t participated in.
SPQR (26be8b) — 10/26/2009 @ 6:28 pmI agree, Leviticus. If you’re going to criticize Obama’s golf game, it’s far better to point out how he used golf to pander to critics who claim he’s turning the White House into a boys’ club.

Indeed, that would be a much more appropriate (albeit different) criticism.
Leviticus (30ac20) — 10/26/2009 @ 7:14 pmI frankly do not give a shit if he golfs all the time, as it would keep him from doing far more objectionable things. But it is tiresome to hear the My Pet Goat, fake cowboy cutting brush, vacation more than anyone is history chorus, of which Leviticus was not a member, acting as though they are now above this.
JD (7f75c9) — 10/26/2009 @ 7:24 pmThe BDS routine won’t play much longer, not at the rate President Hollywood is blowing his big role. I think the bravest thing Zippy’s ever done was that walk across the White House lawn, in January, without his jacket. That’s why they gave him the Nobel Prius Prize.
Vermont Neighbor (7bdd7f) — 10/26/2009 @ 10:58 pmDmac said “As a political commentator, Rich is an excellent drama critic.” It is my understanding he also has the perfect face for radio.
Bush Derangement reminds me of this story: 1969. A woman steps out of a beauty parlor. A cloudburst hits and destroys her brand new ‘do. She shakes her fist at the sky and shouts out, “That damned Nixon!”
