My Take on the “Comedy” Routine at the White House Correspondence Dinner Is Simple
Here it is: it wasn’t funny. But I enjoyed watching Sarah Sanders called out for lying, on account of her being a paid liar. I didn’t enjoy watching her called out for her looks, because that kind of commentary is low class.
But you have no moral basis to complain about the cheap shots at her looks, unless you are on record complaining about all the similar cheap shots Trump has taken at people over the years.
That is all.

happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/29/2018 @ 6:13 pmIt also works the other way: anyone on the Left who does not object to Wolff has no right to complain about Vulgar Trump.

Another reason not to criticize Nate about spelling.
The main crime was that unless you hate Sanders, it wasn’t funny.
steveg (a9dcab) — 4/29/2018 @ 7:55 pmComedy is about bringing the funny.
The WHCD has had a few inadvertently funny “jokes” in the last few years, but no intended jokes have been funny.
Imus wasn’t that funny, Colbert was unwatchably rude and caustic and this idiot was only funny if you hate Trump and his appointees. Obviously you hate on Sanders because she is a “paid liar”, but I’ve listened to LA DA spokespeople try to spin nonsense into whole cloth and never heard a complaint from the inside. Their job is to make it all palatable, take all the trigger words out and spin it into its blandest, most innocuous form. Anyone with a brain takes it all with a grain of salt because… well… bland
I do think that many, many people in our nasty political class like to be “mean girls” about nicknames and insults and appearances. And just like middle school, those people reveal themselves to be of low character.
It’s gross when people make comments about Michelle Obama’s looks.
It’s gross when DJT makes comments about how people look.
It’s gross to call DJT a cheetoh, and I have done that. It was wrong, and reminded me of the increasing nastiness or lack of character throughout our culture. The Left and Right should not be in a race to see who can be most vile.
And it’s wrong when the “comedian” at the WHCD does that kind of thing. Period. Full stop.
The “comedian” did this entirely for attention, just like anyone does who makes a habit of “mean girl” behavior.
We need to better than that. All of us. Especially when it is applied to opponents.
Many people confuse this kind of approach with ideological purity or even toughness. It’s bullying. That’s all.

Hi (b08ed9) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:00 pm11. It’s called “double standards.” Conservatives used to complain quite vocally about liberals displaying such hypocrisy; now movement conservatism has embraced it.
Gryph (08c844) — 4/29/2018 @ 7:58 pm
I’d call it fighting dirty when you realize your “opponent” is doing that and worse. Talk to me when movement conservatives turn a blind eye to trump letting North Korea keep their nuclear plan while shipping them 800 billion dollars on planes in the middle of night just so he could get a “win” by having them sign a meaningless piece of paper. Or how about if movement conservatives start marching by the millions in anti war rallies unless it’s a republican president who goes to war.
Hi (b08ed9) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:03 pmWhat would be worse:
steveg (a9dcab) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:08 pmSanders shilling for the President, or Mueller hiding exculpatory evidence?
I don’t care about the jokes/truths about Sanders that were made. She signed up to work for a dishonest man with low moral character and is a known misogynist. She signed up to defend and spin and protect him. She gave Wollf a lot of material to work with. So did Trump. And so did the media, which was rightly called out by her.
What disturbed me about her “jokes” was this:
So glib and cavalier, yet all the while she acknowledges it’s a baby that is being killed, and yet the audience laughs because Pence. This was a room of people seemingly lacking any moral compass, character or ability to hear exactly what she said.

so Dana i ask you
if doing her job means she deserves to be publicly humiliated
then where do you draw the line
i don’t know it’s a moral dilemma!
personally i think almost everyone who draws a government paycheck deserves at least some dollop of public humiliation
but i might could be kind of an outlier
but here’s what i know:
the dirty white house propaganda sluts

they would have recoiled in repugnance if anyone had even tried

That is totally different from justifying it.

DCSCA (797bc0) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:51 pmAnon Y. Mous,
The comments I quoted above were about women’s looks. The jokes told by Wolf about Sanders at the WHCD were not about her looks:
Dana (023079) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:52 pmyes yes the greatest of all conceivable pumpkins!
a superlative pumpkin indeed!
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:53 pmQuite so, although (given Hoagie’s deep misunderstanding of my point) I sense that some don’t quite understand who the true hypocrites are here. So I’ll spell it out, since I was apparently unclear in the post: everyone who applauded Trump’s insults about people’s looks, but whined about this. THOSE are the hypocrites.
(Also, anyone who whined about Trump insulting people’s looks but applauded the WHCD unfunny person’s shots based on looks. There’s a mitigating factor there, though in that Sanders spins for someone who does the same, so there’s a kind of rough justice, arguably — but I still don’t like it.)
Patterico (115b1f) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:53 pmThe jokes told by Wolf about Sanders at the WHCD were not about her looks
this is what Aunt Lydia looks like
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:54 pmMaybe I misunderstood the “smoky eye” stuff but I thought that was a shot at her makeup.
The stuff about her lying pleased me to watch. She deserves to squirm. She’s a paid liar.

happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:57 pmAlso, Dana, the Aunt Lydia thing seems like a crack at her looks.
Again: she signed up to defend Trump. I don’t feel too sorry for her. But such jokes are wrong.
But Trump’s most enthusiastic defenders have no standing to whine about it.
Patterico (115b1f) — 4/29/2018 @ 8:57 pmI looked up Michelle Wolf on Google images. I don’t know how attractive she thinks she is. She may even be to some people. There’s no accounting for tastes.
nk (dbc370) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:01 pmShe’s a paid liar.
what does that make Michelle Wolf
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:02 pmDana,
To tell the truth I hadn’t watched her routine, just relied on reports about how awful it was. But, you’re right, there wasn’t much of anything about Sanders looks. Except maybe for this one, “I love you as Aunt Lydia in “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
https://www.google.com/search?q=Aunt+Lydia+in+%E2%80%9CThe+Handmaid%27s+Tale.%E2%80%9D&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiL5dzCjuHaAhUFHHwKHSUgDvcQ_AUIDCgD&biw=1056&bih=512&dpr=1.36
Not sure, though. The pics of Aunt Lydia don’t look all that attractive, but mabe the joke was more about the character of the woman rather than looks.
But, that possible exception aside, you’re right. The jokes were about other stuff.
Anon Y. Mous (6cc438) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:08 pmI don’t think the Aunt Lydia reference was about her looks. I think it was her spinning lies for Trump. Here is a description of the Aunt Lydias:
That’s how I took it anyway. Not about her looks, but rather about a true believer using her position of power to spin, cover and lie for the president and re-educate the masses.
Dana (023079) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:10 pmif Handmaids had remained a book you would have a stronger point

DCSCA (797bc0) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:15 pmI was going to ask how you know she was referring to the show instead of the book, but she used the “star-struck” line. Doesn’t really work if she was referencing the book.
Anon Y. Mous (6cc438) — 4/29/2018 @ 9:16 pmAlso Patrick, everyone knows Sanders (courtesy of WH make-up artist Katie Price) has mastered the classic smoky eye. IMake-up aficionados know this, so I think Wolf was just using them as a platform to attack her for lying. Not criticizing them, per se.

happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 6:49 amIt could be that Ms. Wolf was insulting Ms. Sanders looks. It could also be her insulting Sanders for her unflinching dedicated role in furtherance of a crap regime, sort of like Aunt Lydia. If you really want to criticize her for going after someone’s looks, how come no one complained about her crack at McConnell. She said he couldn’t be there because he was getting his neck circumcised which, granted, was actually funny, but still. Given the location of where actual circumcisions take place, she basically called him a dickhead.
Paul Montagu (e6130e) — 4/30/2018 @ 6:59 amActually Trump calling anyone names is not the same (in the least) as what happened at the WHCD this weekend. When Trump called Rosie O a big fat pig it was because she called him or implied that he and his then owned Miss USA pageant & reigning Miss USA, names such as pimp and implied the Miss USA was a whore. Once Rosie waded into that kind of “critical territory” for anyone who received that kind of slander, it was gloves off.
And for the same reasons mentioned, that is why anyone can slam the POS WHCD “comedian” from this past weekend.
I have never read or seen Trump go after anyone first unless he is attacked first. Rosie started it by stating on the View “the comb over” on her blog Wednesday — and suggested he was acting like a “pimp” for Miss USA, Tara Conner.
Then on Fox the week later he slammed her. Rosie deserved it and EVERYONE knew it.
This weekend was total BS. The comedian was and is trash. I reserved the right to call her out anytime. What she did versus what Trump did are 360degress different instances: She (whether it be Rosie or the WHCD comedian) was the attacker, basically lying, going for blood, unprovoked, and Trump was the defender, defending himself from lies that used derogatory language.
The funny thing about Rosie and her unprovoked attacks against Trump, Trump and his Miss USA were not pimps or whores and Rosie was and is a big fat slob. That was why Rosie suffered her celebrity star to fall and Trumps to rise, across all political affiliations.
So now the same thing: the WHCD comedian was foul and out of line. But it is protected speech. And that is why people of all political affiliations are criticizing the WHCD comedian, thru their own exercise of the first amendment.
So yeah there are lots of reasons to throw tomatoes at the WHCD comedian.

Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:13 amSecond question:
Assume A attacks B in a nasty and personal way, and C defends A.
Is C fair game for attack? If so, is B the only one allowed to pile on C, or may the world join in?
Or does it depend on who A, B, and C are?
Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:15 am98… did the current First Lady deserve that comparison any more than Heidi Cruz deserved that detestable treatment, DRJ?
Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:17 amTo make it more concrete, you attacked Michelle Wolf, calling her trash, even though she never said anything about you.
If I supported Wolf’s nasty personal attacks on Sanders, would you feel justified in letting me have it too?
If so, that shows you that you find it justified to a) attack people who have attacked others and b) attack people who defend the original nasty attack.
And if that’s how you feel, then Wolf was entitled to attack Sanders for supporting Trump, who engages in nasty personal attacks.
The logic works both ways, my friend.
Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:19 amIf A attacks B and D doesn’t applaud A does D automatically get lumped with C even though D never attacked B?
BuDuh (fc15db) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:19 amThe correspondents were more offended by the fact that Wolfwoman made it even more difficult for them to continue the ruse that they are fair, unbiased, actual journalists than anything wolfwoman said.

Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:23 amI like how President Trump took the high road and focused on the policies and the other initiatives he’s busy with.
He’s still pretty upset about the way Jon Tester and Johnny Isakson slimed the go-go boy Admiral.
And I can certainly understand how that might rankle.
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:23 am106… wait a minute, I know the answer… yes! and they should go fvck themselves too!
Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:24 amThe comment was a shot at Trump. Melania sustained some collateral damage, which stemmed from the fact that her marriage to the president is transactional, a fact that she has cheerfully (if only implicitly) acknowledged. Now others acknowledge it too, and I am one of them. Am I supposed to feel shame about this? Because if that’s your goal, it ain’t working.
Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:25 am109. Yet another example of how Donald J. Trump has redefined “the high road.”

Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:27 amMy comment was about Trump and his attitude toward marriage, but he has not had problems finding lovely companions.
DRJ (15874d) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:27 amNo. Of what relevance is that question to the treatment of Sarah Sanders, who applauds Donald Trump every day?
Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:28 amGo get ‘em, killer.
Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:28 am115. I think it’s perfectly fair to believe that Trump’s attitude towards marriage reflects his attitude towards women.
Gryph (08c844) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:29 amRich old guys rarely have difficulty finding younger women willing to engage in transactional relationships.
Patterico (6a7f3a) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:29 am119. When Melania outlives her usefulness, she’ll get kicked to the curb just like Donald’s other consorts.

Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:32 amLooks like Wolfe is a white girl, so we can call her what she is.
Ugly. Inside and Out.
rcocean (1a839e) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:41 amnk understands. I was thinking about Ivana when I wrote that. Trump likes traditionally beautiful women but he has a type he prefers for love or marriage. Ivana, Melania, and even his daughter Ivanka are exotic in the same way. He likes that look but he’s also shown that the object of his affection is replaceable.
DRJ (15874d) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:43 am123. When the object of one’s affection is replaceable, I personally don’t call that love or anything of the sort. As always, YMMV.
Gryph (08c844) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:45 amI don’t believe in our side playing Little Lord Fauntleroy while the other side is the Boston Strangler. Bush was a fool to sit there and take Colbert’s insults in 2006, and not fight back while he was called “Bush Hitler” during his whole eight years.
He probably won over Patterico with that wussy attitude, but no one else. As Lincoln said of Grant, I say of Trump: “I like this man, he fights”.
rcocean (1a839e) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:45 am?
BuDuh (fc15db) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:47 am125. I’ll leave aside the assertion that Lincoln was a tyrant and no hero at all for a moment.
What is Trump fighting for? Whatever that something is, will it make us a freer and more prosperous nation? Are we any closer to truly constitutional government than we were before his inauguration? Even if the answer to that last question is yes, how do we know it won’t be undone when he leaves office?
Bread and circuses, ladies and gentlemen. It’s all a sad commentary on the state of the American electorate, and we’ll get what we deserve. Good and hard. (h/t Mencken)
Gryph (08c844) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:49 amWhat is the “job” you referred to, DRJ?

BuDuh (fc15db) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:52 amIt’s refreshing to see everyone come to the defense of political wives caught in the crossfire of political debate. Kudos to Dana.
DRJ (15874d) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:56 amPatterico,
Nope. All the progressive/regressive sophistic rationalizing in the world doesn’t change the issue at hand: Trump only attacks those who attack him first, or his business, or friends and family. Then he goes and defends himself and others.
You were validating the “comedian’s” unjustified attacks based on the error that Trump in the past did the same thing, which in fact, he did not.
You are validating, though mistakenly, that is what makes it ok to attack anyone who is associated with POTUS Trump. And that is faulty logic to avoid showing any kind of deserved “sympathy” towards someone who was clearly unjustly attacked just because she works for POTUS Trump and she is a woman who is not a progressive liberal. All of those “comedic” attacks were because of that as well as she works for POTUS Trump.
That is the issue. This whole multi-post on trying to find a logical way to validate your support of a “comedian” who went low on a POTUS you can’t stand, still doesn’t validate that across the political spectrum, what the supposed “comedian” did was wrong and not done well.
heck attack me all you want. We can bend logic all day long to support any position and that is what the liberal progressives have made a living off of; if you are trying to find a way to do that, you probably will.
But it still doesn’t change the facts: The “comedian” was wrong on a basic human interaction level, which Trump has never done before. The “comedian” is protected by the first amendment to say lies or go low, but she was and is still wrong. And I have the right to call her out on it.
Shoot me, a supposed “messenger” of sorts, if you want, but it doesn’t change the facts: and most of those facts are recorded for posterity to back me up.

Paul Zummo (2c79a5) — 4/30/2018 @ 8:23 amAnd the ironic part is that *this* attitude is how the Left justifies their own personal attacks.

this was around the time trashbag Liz Mair was sending nudie pics of Melania to people in Utah
and Ted Cruz was so desperate and flailing
he decided to blow a harmless tweet up into a big big huge deal, propagating it far more than it would have been otherwise, and further humiliating his mentally fragile wife
and in the end it was all for naught
he ended up looking like a pouty, weak, overwhelmed and unfocused mess, and the voters turned their backs on him
Liz Mair may very well be the person most culpable for Ted Cruz’s failure to establish himself as a credible national politician
thanks a lot Liz you big pooper

Well, its called Democracy. Part of the time its a Clown show, and part of the time it isn’t. You can ignore the B&C if you wish, but it has a real life impact on people and how they vote. Not you of course, but a lot of low-information voters and less serious people – who do vote. When you figure out a way to take away their vote, I’ll stop caring.
Besides if the super-elite White House Correspondents were so concerned with Constitutional Government, why did they hire a “comedian” to attack the POTUS?
rcocean (1a839e) — 4/30/2018 @ 8:40 amPeople seem to be pushing the idea that because Trump – and some point in the last two years – made fun of someone’s looks, that means the Left and Never-Trumpers can be rude/nasty to Trump and his subordinates – forever.
What an odd idea.
rcocean (1a839e) — 4/30/2018 @ 8:42 amWhat sick relationship: Sanders agrees to work for Trump as his spinmeister, fully knowing about his treatment of women. Yet she, to this day, defends him and lies for him – and not just about women. Trump boycotts the WHCD because he knows what a target he is, yet nonetheless Sanders is “encouraged” by Trump, her boss, to attend the dinner In his stewad and take the crap instead. This while he is busy hiding out and campaigning in Michigan so he can get some love. Understandably, he doesn’t want to attend, and yet has Sanders attend and take the hits instead. And then he tweets his disgust about the dinner and Wolf::
He makes the rules: it’s okay for Sanders to be publicly abused, but not him. And she’s willing to play by these rules. They’re both sick.

They didn’t fall for the anti-Trump lies.
Romney was worse then Trump ever was. He was pro-abortion and pro-gay adoption, enabled all of the Catholic orphanages to shutdown, and started what became known as Obamacare with Romneycare, in the most liberal northeastern state of Massachusetts. Yet he then changed the year or two before he ran for office. But because he wasn’t rough around the edges, he was given a pass by EVERYONE. Romney even wanted Trumps money and endorsement. Trump even sat out in order to give Romney a chance to become POTUS.
Trump, after being insulted by the anti-Trumpers by having himself and his family attached without mercy, swung back and swung back hard, and the anti-Trumpers scrambled and cried “mama that man, he hurt me….”
oh well. the anti-Trumpers started it first. They got what they deserved. They wanted scorched earth and they certainly got it. And in the end Trump forgot and forgave and has even given Romney compliments and for people to vote for him for Senator, and interviewed him for Sec of State. He even promotes foreign policies that Romney spoke about and even gives Romney credit.
yet the anti-Trumpers still hold grudges….

Ted Cruz, who wasn’t having much success capturing “delegates”
and piteous burn victim John Kasich, a dark horse who attempted to corral the burn victim pity vote but ultimately failed because people hate him so much
so i think this anti-trump pro-cruz business is mostly semantic
the only conceivable way to have stopped the Trump juggernaut was for Ted Cruz to rise above his manifest unsuitability for higher office and snatch the requisite number of delegates from Mr. Trump’s masterful hands

Ted Cruz was perfectly happy to call attention to a tweet which featured the grotesquely distorted visage of his mentally fragile wife.
He jumped on that tweet like a chicken on a cheeto: he wanted all the voters to see it and say oh gosh let’s not vote for Mr. Trump we should vote for the weak contemptible beta male with the less-pretty wife.
Then, compounding Ted Cruz’s folly, instead of laughing it off as a silly tweet, Mrs. Cruz pliably adopted the pose of victim (tweet victim with aggravated photoshop battery).
It was a bizarre display of stupidity and neurosis, and it ended up repulsing the very voters they needed to win the nomination.

you said:
“He makes the rules: it’s okay for Sanders to be publicly abused, but not him. And she’s willing to play by these rules. They’re both sick.”
so what was spoken to Sanders by the WHCD “comedian”, was Sanders and Trump’s fault because she & Trump should have know it would be that vulgar?
Pray tell how could they or you know that? Did you actually know it would be that bad?
…..with what….a crystal ball?
No one has been this pathetic & vulgar to Sanders, or Trump, even on SNL.
Even the WHCD personnel at the event said this was not what they expected.
…the “comedian” made her choice and she will have to pay the consequences. So are others who start an argument with Trump or call him names. He will finish it.

DRJ (15874d) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:01 pmWhere have you been these past few years, Where Eagles Dare? Who didn’t know it was going to be awful? Who doesn’t know that the MSM is hostile to any on the right. Is this really news to you? They should have been prepared for the worst. Always. And perhaps they were, and knew it would be this craven because now who scores political points looking like a victim now because a lefty comedienne did a hatchet job on an unpopular figure on the right whose job it is to spin and defend a president that is utterly loathed by the elite class of professional journos. See DRJ at 196.

happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:02 pmIt’s a smart plan and Sanders was probably willing to take the heat for the greater good.
DRJ (15874d) — 4/30/2018 @ 2:42 pm
Completely agree.
felipe (023cc9) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:03 pmMaybe Redstate realized that market was saturated.
BuDuh (817531) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:09 pmstarbucks hates president trump even more than they hate black people
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:11 pmBush’ self-deprecating humor was priceless. Classy and disarming.
Dana (023079) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:14 pmi think Israel earned them a get out of jail free card for Mr. Pollard today
i haven’t been really keen on letting him go but those people are doing the Lord’s work
but c’mon if the sleazy military can let a deserting coward like Bergdork go what’s one little spy between friends
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:22 pmAlso, Where Eagles Dare, The White House could’ve googled Michelle Wolf, gone to her Twitter feed, and also played a number of her standup routines tog an idea of what they were facing . But maybe they did…
My take is, President Trump has unfairly attacked people, made it personal, viciously insulted them in the public square and set the tone for this White House. As such it’s rich that the White House complains when a left-wing comedian, a known Hillary supporter lashes out in a crass and low- class manner.
Dana (023079) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:32 pmI don’t know what do you expected? Decency?
Dana (023079) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:32 pm207. Donald Trump complaining about comedians making crass personal attacks is like the late Hugh Heffner accusing prostitutes of having questionable morals.
Gryph (08c844) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:33 pmAnyway, it looks like Wolf handed Trump a big win.
Dana (023079) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:38 pmthe white house correspondents at the dinner hate President Trump but they hate women with real boobies (non-transitioning real women) that work for him even more
plus they love abortion
and they like bawdy humor too
and they all had a wonderful evening celebration abortion and hating on Cousin Huckabee
meanwhile Israel assembled the evidence that Iran was cheating on their silly obama deal
and poor baby general mattis locked himself in the bathroom and he can’t stop crying
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:40 pmoopers a wonderful evening *celebrating* abortion i mean
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:40 pmI looks like Trump handed Trump a big win.
BuDuh (fc15db) — 4/30/2018 @ 3:44 pmI’m going to need you to explain this:
Dana (023079) — 4/30/2018 @ 4:09 pmthat’s the comedic talent people are rallying around today
her name’s Michelle Wolf
the Marvelous Mrs. Wolf
you made note of this already

I’m not sure if the abortion witticisms are a big part of her brand
but they should be
happyfeet (28a91b) — 4/30/2018 @ 4:12 pmSomeone found Wolf’s deleted tweets (she used to have over 20,000, now she has less than 400).
One example:
‘LeBron James was named Sports Illustrated Man of the Year. Sorry Serena, so close.’
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5675113/Michelle-Wolf-called-Eric-Trump-abortion-one-thousands-deleted-tweets.html
She’s going to need the Joy Reid defense methinks.

as I have said repeatedly, but you like the left wing, RINOS and the other anti-trumpers DONT want to hear it: Trump only attacks when he is attacked first. Just like he crushed the fat pig Rosie AFTER she called him a pimp and implied the Miss USA pageant was for whores.
Please show me anything Trump ever did to someone even close to what this supposed “comedian” did at the WHCD. show me the proof.
also show me the proof where Trump “attacked” anyone who didn’t attack him first.
whether it was the dirtbag McCain who always attacked anyone who spoke out against the RINOS of the senate, such as all of the name-calling he did against Cruz and Paul when they first were popular. McCain tried the same thing with Trump and Trump handed McCain’s head back to him.
again show me proof that Trump EVER attacked anyone first or ever sunk so low was to attack someone as the supposed “comedian” did at the WHCD.
this is just the same left wing, RINOS and the other anti-trumpers cabal that in the end, shows all of them more desperate and more upset that their candidates in the 2016 race for POTUS, lost.
you guys will support anyone as long as it makes Trump look bad and helps bring down his presidency.
really, for any of you to support what happened to Sanders this weekend only proves why supposed “conservatism” is a dead political ideology of the USA. I mean even if Trumps family was attacked, his children and grandchildren, you guys dont care and only pile on. At least Trump admits he hasn’t been a good husband. you guys think you are some kind of gold standard of political ideology.
You got the leader you deserved. Its a Trump world right now and you and your kind, are relegated to the dust bin of as-beens, along with the supposed “comedian” of the WHCD, and the WHC. Who would have thought that the corrupt WHC, the FBI, CIA, the DNC and even the RNC, would be so inconsequential and hated. Their lies have validated their down fall.
Along with anyone else who supports them.
Where Eagles Dare (8f562c) — 4/30/2018 @ 6:33 pmYou’re right. Donald Trump has never insulted anyone’s appearance. I stand corrected. Clearly, you have the better argument.
Well there you have it then.
*edits block list to include one more name*
Patterico (115b1f) — 4/30/2018 @ 6:58 pmI have long blocked anyone on Twitter who I found to be irritating and without redeeming value.
I have not blocked people like that because I hoped to encourage an open forum.
However, I now realize that the fact that I have an open forum doesn’t mean *I* have to read comments from people fitting this description.
So from this point forward, I intend to be a lot freer with the blocking script.
I think it will make me a cheerier person.
Patterico (115b1f) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:02 pmi, too, had an epiphany once

Pinandpuller (903298) — 4/30/2018 @ 7:10 pmCNN: Late-night hosts defend Michelle Wolf’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner act
CNN, same day: The 57 most outlandish, outrageous and offensive lines from Trump’s Michigan rally
“If, among those who supposedly cherish freedom of expression, certain widespread viewpoints become taboo, where does that leave us? In a dishonest media atmosphere. More and more, conservative writers and pundits will claim to support Trump, whether they actually do or not. Meanwhile, those who refuse to engage in the charade will be increasingly sidelined.”
Irony is not dead. Nor, apparently, is willful blindness. Those who might support Trump at CNN wre “sidelined” quite some time ago.
But let’s yell about Fox.
Kevin M (752a26) — 5/1/2018 @ 12:05 amBTW, to focus on the insults about appearance is to bury the lead. Calling out GOP women as “Uncle Toms” and using everything in the book but “c-nt” to describe them is rather more of an issue.
Kevin M (752a26) — 5/1/2018 @ 12:07 amAnd the REALLY funny thing? Not one of Chris Cillizza’s “57 most outlandish, outrageous and offensive” lines is outlandish, outrageous or offensive.
I am willing to bet that one or more lines uttered at the Conspirators Dinner was all three.

Here’s a video that includes footage of Trump insulting Carly Fiorina’s appearance. And he’s not even pretending to be funny. It’s just vicious.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzZMIU_Cc6Y
There’s another. 24 times on Howard Stern.
I get it, Trump licker. You don’t care. And that’s fine. But to just lie to us and pretend it didn’t happen? That’s pretty low-class, there buddy.
Gryph (08c844) — 5/1/2018 @ 3:26 am225. Whoops…I think I might have messed up those links. But you get my point. I could go on. But I won’t. You Trump lickers keep up this level of disingenuousness, I might just take up Pat on his offer to use his blocking list.
Gryph (08c844) — 5/1/2018 @ 3:28 amGryph,
Name calling?
Why did trump, insult Carly? Was it her campaign speech during the week that attacked his reputation and family. Also, fiorino knew she had no business on that stage.
It’s sad and pathetic to watch the never trump bring up the past, as justification for their lies, distortions, and smears.
EPWJ (d94a1e) — 5/1/2018 @ 5:30 amBlocking list is used by 8th grade gurlz…
Sad.
Colonel Haiku (2601c0) — 5/1/2018 @ 6:29 amWhat??
Dana (023079) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:25 am227. And the Trump humpers continue apace. SMDH
Gryph (08c844) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:26 amFunny, a Trump supporter would come to Carly Fiorina’s defense but not say anything about Trump’s multiple appearances with sleazemeister Howard Stern. Can’t defend the indefensible, eh Trump lickers?
Gryph (08c844) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:27 am“136. And the ironic part is that *this* attitude is how the Left justifies their own personal attacks.”
Another example of that you guys just don’t get it.
The Left does NOT “justify their own personal attacks.” They just attack us because we are their enemy. They need no further justification that that.
Anything they say other than that is simply them trying to get you (us) to stop defending against their attack.
fred-2 (ce04f3) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:31 am228. Hey Patterico! Ever thought about starting a policy of blocking anyone who complains about your blocking list? 😉

Trump lickers, you have a right to speak under the 1st amendment. You don’t have a right to be heard.
Gryph (08c844) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:47 amHey, Glyph is right. Stop picking on him. There are only a handful of places on the Internet where some people know that they can be their true selves without being disrespected, silenced, or trolled. Healing is more important than debate and in fact not all ideas are worthy of being debated. There is nothing wrong with being in an echo chamber if all that is being echoed is the idea that you are human and worthy of respect. Right, Glyph?
Skorcher (5b282a) — 5/1/2018 @ 7:55 am242. That’s gRyph, moron. Go home.

“You’re right. Donald Trump has never insulted anyone’s appearance. I stand corrected. Clearly, you have the better argument.”
and again, you’re wrong, Trump only attacked when he was attacked first by the “loyal opposition”. So did any anti-trumpers call out the attack on his wife? why, because you thought Trump and his wife deserved it from a previous name-calling episode that Trump didn’t start as well?
all the anti-trumpets SAY they like people who speak tough and whats on their mind, “truth to power”, but when that same tactic is pointed at them, then the attacker is “immoral”. And “their candidate was the good conservative guy”….
people can like Bach and company all they want, but hey guess what, out of the culture of Bach, Beethoven and Wagner (both of them) we got good ol Hitler & camps for those he didn’t agree with. just goes to show just because you think you are an “elite” and above it all, your notion of culture can produce some pretty amoral and immoral leaders.
really you are no different then redstate: you think you can “delete” what you dont agree with. Sounds a bit like censorship to me.
go figure.
