  1. Guess how far back they have been covering for him:

Who was his fatty back then?

  2. Weinstein was fired only because we found out what they always knew. Damage control and cutting their losses.

  3. Actually all you have to is the following:

    a) Sell your majority ownership, if you ever had it,
    b) Stop making money like you used to.

    Frederick (63491b)

  4. And that is why Weinstein was fired. If he’d been making money, they’d have kept covering for him.

    Frederick (63491b)

  5. Holy Cow, Weinstein is nearly as evil as Trump!

    But not quite. Right?

  6. narciso,

This NYT piece on the Menshevik-Bilshevik split in the Democrat Party provides some insight into the NYT motives for the Weinstein defenestration. Carving up a bloated more equal pig is a decent “kill a chicken to scare the monkey” maneuver to edify other bundlers and donors regarding the ease with which they can be publicly humiliated.

I certainly applaud the inmates for attempting tighter asylum management – they should just redouble their efforts in order to achieve complete success.

  7. @5. There’s a difference between Kellogg’s Raisin Bran and Post Raisin Bran.

Try and figure out what it is.

@2. Just like O’Reilly. And Ailes, etc. etc..

    Only quicker.

  8. DC. Roger Ailes was my thought as well. Evil is not a bigot.

  9. @8. Ben, meh, the stories about Weinstein were an open secret for years. Old colleagues often quipped about his scumbag antics, particularly at his infamous yacht parties at Cannes. It was endured as a part of doing business– as in other businesses w/lesser public profiles. You know, absolute power corrupts absolutely– especially after several Absoluts on the rocks on the French Riviera. Changing times finally caught up w/him — as it will with others. Mueller is still on the job.

  10. “In 2004, Waxman began investigating the unpleasant rumors about Weinstein that many apparently talked about behind closed doors, but never published. The then-Times reporter attempted to change that, tracking down Weinstein’s shady procurer and finding a woman who was paid-off to keep her mouth shut about sexual harassment at the hands of the film mogul. And yet, despite her work on the story, Waxman’s facts were never published by the outlet lauded by many as the pinnacle of journalism.

Instead, she writes that everyone from Matt Damon, to Russell Crowe, to Weinstein himself stepped in to personally ensure this story never saw the A1 pages — or any part of the paper for that matter. Waxman claims that her then-editor, the now-Bloomberg editor-at-large Jon Landman, ultimately shot down the damning piece and opted to run a story with no such allegations.”

In 2006 at the podium for the Golden Globes, Meryl Streep called Weinstein “God”.

Yes, we must let Hollywood tell us what is right and what is wrong.

He was– he literally held the power of life or death over your project and/or career.

  12. a lot of times when people get fired they gain weight so Mr. Harvey needs to be super-careful about his meal choices and such over the coming days and weeks

the good news is he’ll have lots of time to put together healthy nutritious meals the bad part is he’s a dirty sexual predator

so i’m thinking maybe fish and vegetables would be a good place to start

can’t really go wrong if you build your meal plan around fish and vegetables

  13. 7… ASPCA is two scoops of crazy in nearly every one of his posts.

  14. Weinstein will eventually attempt becoming a tranny, so he can get into the drawers of a former gold medal decathlete.
    Going for the gold.

His desperate plea that he should get a pass because he was going to take on the NRA and end LaPierre’s career was cute.

  16. If he had a grotto and a magazine instead of a movie studio would he still have a job?

    crazy (d99a88)

  17. How many women have made credible sexual harassment claims against Harvey Wallbanger vis a vis the number of women who made credible sexual assault claims against Bill Clinton?

  18. 11 – very telling on what Hollywood considers a supreme diety…..and yet Trump is KKK Von Hitler.

I guess Matt Damon, Russell Crowe, Meryl Streep etc. went to bat to praise and cover up for the God Of Hollywood knowing he was a predator/scumbag was because lightning bolts…..or something.

    harkin (2184e5)

  19. If he had a grotto and a magazine instead of a movie studio would he still have a job?”

Apples and oranges, it’s a bit different when the women jump into bed with the guy and beg to be objectified.

Hef didn’t need to harass any babes, he had a color catalog of willing partners to pick from.

  20. The New York Post reported taht the New York Times prepared an artivle about Harrvey Weinstein in 2004 which contained some allegations like this, but after Harvey Weinstein personally visited the New York Times, all the allegations were left out.

The New York Times had no comment. He might have threatened to sue, maybe. The New York Post notes he was also an advertiser.

    Maybe they mean this article:

    Sammy Finkelman (9f1a19)

  21. I see harkin @10 has more detail. And it looks like the article was indeed published, but in expurgated form.

Sharon Waxman is listed as a co-author of that article. She shares credit with Laura M. Holson.

  22. Among the TMI tidbits from the affair Weinstein:

Judi Densch on her success in Hollywood: “It was thanks to Harvey, whose name I have had tattooed on my bum ever since”

Probably a good thing that, if true, no one will ever ask for proof.

    harkin (2184e5)

  23. @harkin:Probably a good thing that, if true, no one will ever ask for proof.

    Too late:

Ms. Dench pulled down her pants and flashed the tattoo at Mr. Weinstein at a celebrity lunch she arranged at the Four Seasons in 2002 with Mike Nichols, Nora Ephron, Carly Simon and others, and again at the BAFTA awards when Mr. Weinstein asked Ms. Dench to show his gift to a skeptical Oprah Winfrey at Royal Albert Hall.

“I walked in and I saw Harvey, and I said, ‘Hello, Harvey,’ and I dropped my pants down,” Ms. Dench recalls gleefully.

Ms. Winfrey, Mr. Weinstein recalls, “turned into a 12-year-old squealing girl” after Ms. Dench told her, “I hear you’ve been doubting my love for Harvey?” as she unzipped her pants.

Is the Weinstein tattoo real or simply drawn on by her makeup artist when she needs it, given that she once threatened to switch it to Kevin Spacey when he was the head of the Old Vic?

In her typically saucy fashion, Ms. Dench purrs, “How can I possibly tell you? Ask Harvey.”

    Frederick (64d4e1)

  24. Any chance charges will be filed in LA for his behavior?

    Dude is a SUPER PREDATOR!!!

Now we know how many ‘holes it takes to fill teh Albert Hall!

  29. The best thing is the latest proof that the bastion of “Quality Journalism,” the Los Angeles Times, seemingly can’t even cover its hometown. It’s been scooped again, this time on a story that was 20 years in the making, and by an out of town paper and magazine.

    Wait! News?

The LAT prefers busily churning out seemingly endless, and ponderous pieces by resident retread and gasbag, Doyle McManus.

Characterizing whatever Trump says as a “rant.”

And offering those juvenile cartoons by Horsey, and hordes of ill-informed op-eds, all fortified by the clueless Cathleen Decker’s news “Analysis,” seemingly her latest op-ed rant, masquerading as some kind of “news.

Well, settle back LA Times. Real reporters just broke a story. No not an op-ed, not a news “Analysis,” and not another gassy editorial. News. A big story.

But not to worry LAT: assign some people to do your catch up story, and pretend to be a newspaper.
