I think that’s the gist of it, anyway.

  9. I shall continue to applaud the one step forward after two steps back. Or ten steps back.

Trump was right to fire Mooch.

Only a fool would have hired him in the first place.

    Beldar (fa637a)

  10. Was he fired-fired or was he made without portfolio?

  11. General Kelly will not be having Mooches in his White House. It’s bad enough he has Trumps.

boyfriend didn’t have his ducks in a row them ducks were all at the jersey shore getting wasted on jager bombs while his hedge fund hoochie wife was popping a lil trust fund out while daddy mooch was back in DC “really feeling himself” as the kids say while the rest of use were like

he went to harvard you know

  18. see this is what i mean about the military making you weird

general jagoff didn’t have to do it that way he just kinda imagines that’s how he should do it cause he’s been steeping in the pentagon sewer for decades huffing his own armpits and doesn’t realize he’s just being a fragrant butthole

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  19. Red State says he was escorted off the property.

“He does not have a role at this time in the Trump administration.”

    Dave (445e97)

  20. My assumption is Kelly made acceptance of the CoS position conditional upon having the authority to terminate with prejudice solely at his own discretion. Kelly will hold Trump to his generally worthless word or march out with his head up. He can’t possibly tame the toddler in the Oval Office but his method of rectifying his own serious error in working for the buffoon in any capacity whatsoever will be interesting to watch.

    Rick Ballard (39e1b7)

  21. I imagined everyone is shown out from the White House. Not the same as escorted out like somebody caught stealing office supplies. I walk my own guests to the door or even to their car when they leave and I’m not even President.

But, yes, it does look he was fired-fired.

    nk (dbc370)

  22. it’s nice to be important but it’s more important to be nice

Mr. Scaramucci is young wealthy and talented, at least when he’s in his own very very special milieu

there was no reason for to make him into an enemy

but i guess general haughty snivelsnot has to learn crap the hard way

that tends to be how you learn things when you been on the government’s dime your whole pathetic life

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  23. Yesterday you were saying that Scaramucci’s hiring was problematic, and expanded on the subject by adding that he is trashy and his hiring was due to Trump’s ignorance.

    nk (dbc370)

  24. Mr. Scaramucci is young

    He’s 53.

    Dave (445e97)

  25. Like everybody keeps reminding us, Trump is the President. He is a demented buffoon and the only hope for our poor country is that he will have some sane, competent people around him to do his job for him. Like Pence, Sessions, Mattis, Kelly, Tillerson, Nikki, those Goldy Sacks guys ….

    nk (dbc370)

  26. Op-ed titles that seemed pretty clever at 6am this morning with a publication date of July 31, 2017:

  27. Fifty-three is about par for a second divorce/second mid-life crisis, as measured by New York/Goldman Sachs “Masters of the Universe” standards.

    Beldar (fa637a)

  28. He’s 53.

have you checked the median age of failmerica’s congresstrash lately?

plus he just had a baby

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  29. As best one can tell from what’s publicly available — juvy court records being, appropriately, sealed — the most sustained discipline in Trump’s entire life was while he was at the New York Military Academy.

One hopes that Gen. Kelly can tickle some dormant neural pathways, but I doubt it in the long run. I’m glad he has a good pension.

    Beldar (fa637a)

  30. looks like David Marcus and Mr. Mooch share the same Just for Men formula

i wonder if their respective blended families vacation together on carnival cruises

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  31. @23 & 24: It strikes me as unfair for you to attempt to chasten happyfeet with facts; the evidence is prolific that that only confuses her.

  33. hello Q person with excitement

i started at #14 and what did i say

i bet it was his trashy family problems way more than that interview what sunk him

i appreciate Mr. nk’s review of my evolving thinkings

but the only thing I’m confuzzled about is why general jagoff

    in this context

decided he wanted to fire our friend Anthony with Maximal Drama

cause that’s not making a whole lot of sense to me

on either a political or just a human level

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  34. 🙂

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  35. “He got hired, divorced, had a baby, and fired in 10 days.” It must be a record.

My question would be, was he just brought on board to get Priebus out? I’m reading that. But if that’s so, what does that say about Trump, who’s suppose to be a real boss? Why didn’t he just fire him himself?

    Dana (023079)

  36. /sarc on

@ Dana: You’re missing the four-dimensional chess game Trump is playing! You see, Trump always planned for it to go down just like this! Through this gambit, he managed to drive two devoted leakers (Reince & Mooch) out of the White House in one fell swoop! At this rate, in another couple of dozen new press secretaries — which, fortunately, don’t require Senate confirmation or even 30 days’ notice to hire and fire — he’ll have drained perhaps half of the leakers from the White House staff!

    /sarc off

    Beldar (fa637a)

  38. Also from Dave’s Onion link. Spam filter won’t allow me to link it because of the naughty words:

WASHINGTON—Following his abrupt dismissal just 10 days after being named White House communications director, Anthony Scaramucci reportedly received an outpouring of sympathetic texts Monday from friends and family expressing that they were “so f**kin’ sorry to hear about this sh!t.” “My deepest motherf**kin’ condolences, Tony, it’s terrible to hear you got sh!t-canned by these ass-munching cocks in D.C.,” read a text message in part, just one of dozens sent by old buddies at Goldman Sachs, current business partners at SkyBridge Capital, and extended family in New Jersey in response to his “goddamn bullsh!t” dismissal. “Sorry to hear those b!tches gave you the f**king ax, Mooch. That jackass [John] Kelly got no f**king clue what a good f**kin’ dude you are. Just know your mother and I always got your f**king back.” At press time, Scaramucci’s New York office was reportedly filled with flower arrangements and handwritten cards lamenting that this was “absolute f**king trash.”

    nk (dbc370)

  39. At press time, Scaramucci’s New York office was reportedly filled with flower arrangements

Could that have anything to do with the fact that he was erroneously listed as deceased in the new Harvard Law alumni register that came out just last week?

  61. Kelly has to be Sisyphus to alter the Don Dialectic.

    Axios

Can he attract hefty new talent? (And how long can he keep the few gems that he has?) One of the corners this White House has painted itself into is the inability to get sane, successful, proficient Republicans to join the Trump show, either to fill vacant slots or as replacements in the coming wave of departures (which happens after Year 1, regardless of who is president).
Can he engineer a big Hill win? Kelly is experienced in working the Senate from his days as the Marine Corps commandant’s legislative assistant (2004-07), and he ‘s going to find extreme unhappiness with this White House’s approach to policy, messaging, strategy and tactics.
Can he shield POTUS from Mueller? We’re going to have document and interview requests, perhaps pleas of the Fifth by people close to Trump. The special counsel has a rich new vein to exploit with today’s WashPost front-pager (denied by Trump’s legal team): “Flying home from Germany on July 8 aboard Air Force One, Trump personally dictated a statement in which Trump Jr. said that he and the Russian lawyer had ‘primarily discussed a program about the adoption of Russian children.'”
Can he mobilize this thinly staffed, inexperienced administration for a genuine crisis? The fact that there hasn’t been a transcendent national security event, at home or aboard, is a miracle that can’t last. With the military provocation by North Korea and the diplomatic aggression by Russia, he may get his chance quickly.
Can he restrain President Trump from petty tussles, pointless tweets and random self-indulgences? Kelly has certainly marked his territory. But Trump is the ultimate boss. And as we’ve been telling you for a year: If there’s one guy who’s not changing, it’s the 70-year-old billionaire with his name on the building.
Be smart: People in the room tell me that Kelly’s first test will be when something bad happens and POTUS wants to react, when he’d be better off holding his fire.

Keeper quote … An eternal Trump truth, tweeted post-Mooch by Maggie Haberman: “There are two types of non-family members in Trumpworld. Permanents & instruments. Sometimes instruments mistakenly think they’re permanents.”

  66. It won’t be Trumplandia tax reform…

“Sources in the administration say an outreach campaign by newly minted Chief of Staff John Kelly is in the works to rebuild some bridges and, potentially, chip away at the unified Democratic opposition to President Donald Trump’s agenda. Even before he formally started the job, Kelly was reaching out to top Capitol Hill Democrats in hopes of regaining political capital ahead of what is expected to be a bruising fight over tax reform and other administration priorities.
“Tax reform is gonna be a heavy lift,” a senior White House official told The Daily Beast. “No reason to write off/alienate [Democrats] any more than we already have.”

    Ben burn (a4adef)

  67. Ace of Spades is phlegmatic as usual

“Good morning kids. First day of August, and although the Scarmucci firing after just 10 days on the job is sucking the oxygen out of the room, there’s still quite a bit going on, so let’s dive right in. Despite everything the Leviathan is doing to blockade, buffalo and bring down the Trump agenda, the man is getting things done. US businesses have posted growth not seen in six years and much of that is due to executive actions cutting red tape in the bureaucracy. Sadly when (G-d forbid) a Democrat gets into the Oval Office or a Republican who touts “bipartisanship!” that can all be reversed with a pen and phone.

Which leads into the next item; Treasury Secretary Mnuchin being the tip of the spear as it were to get the ball rolling on tax reform. Considering the masks coming off at the moment of truth for Obamacare Repeal, I would not want to wager that the GOP-led legislature will do anything different when it comes to this equally crucial issue. Yup, I’m calling it now: there will be no tax reform. Two reasons, 1) anything that denudes power, influence and lucre from DC will be opposed tooth and nail and 2) they hate Donald Trump so it’s automatic that they will oppose it.

Hence, Nancy Pelosi saying it’s not important for Dems to win the 2018 Midterms is not necessarily a botox-leaking-into-the-cerbral-cortex-induced comment , especially when you have Republicans like McCain, Collins, Murkowski and most of the rest, including of course the leadership.

Two other things of note. First, what should be a huge story in a sane world, the Australian Weather Service has been caught rigging climate data and two years after the Garland, TX ISIS-inspired massacre of five cops, the city of Garland is refusing to release information about the attack. Hmm. Anyway, links from around the world, across the nation and up your street. Have a better one and remain blessed.

The panel voted Thursday to declassify the report, the result of two years of investigation by the committee. U.S. intelligence agencies will have to approve making the report public.

“The hue and cry would be that, ‘This is, this is a super cover-up. Before they were just trying to cover up the, the information. Now they realize they’ve got guilty people, so they, they’ve immunized them so that they can’t be prosecuted.'” – President Nixon anticipating public reaction if the Watergate cover-up was revealed, secret White House Oval Office tapes, February 16, 1973

WAPO: Trump dictated son’s misleading statement on meeting with Russian lawyer

    This was already known.

    Talking Points Memo July 12:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/11/us/politics/russia-trump.html?_r=0

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/trump-team-crafted-don-jr-statement-russian-meeting

It was already known that Donald Trump Jr, didn’t draft his own (misleading) statement, and frutehr ore it was known that people argued.

The only new point here is that Donald Trump now is the sole drafterof teh statement, instead of “signing off” on it, and is given sole responsibility for the misleading statement with nobody else on his side.

The Washington Post story may be very misleading. The New York Times reoported it went through several revisions.

Thios would be the second case where ideas in connection with Russia and the campaign are kept out. The first was the reason given for firing Comey.

Trump is trying to hide something (a something which may not be illegal, but there is some reason Manafort and Mike Flynn got their positions in the campaign and Trump was all for joining with Russia to confront ISIS in Syria, and toned down the Reublican platform about Ukraine. And we add also his poistion in Syrian refugees.)

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  111. They mean Seth Rich. Dumped him for another, Awan..

The White House on Tuesday denied that Fox News gave President Trump prior review of a story that raised conspiracy theories about the death of a Democratic National Committee staffer.

“The president had no knowledge of the story and its completely untrue that he or the White House [had] involvement in the story,” said White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

“Beyond that, this is ongoing litigation and I’d refer you to the actual parties involved, which are not the White House.” .

    Ben burn (a4adef)

  112. * toned down the Republican platform about Ukraine. And we can add also his poistion in Syrian refugees beause taht probably was also Putin influenced.

Trump is now arguing that Putin faviored Hillary because:

    1) Trump was for low oil prices (or policies that would leasd to that) because he’s not against fracking.

[BTW, it should be noted that horizontal drilling machines, developed in connection with fracking, are now being bought by Mexican drug gangs to tunnel under the U.S. border with Mexico. The first attempts to dig tunnels with that maybe were caught but you could expect more. These machines can drill horizontally very fast.)

    2) Trump is for a stronger military.

Others say Putin was just trying to create problems for both candidates, with the aim of undermining respect for democracy. This is probably an idea that exists only in the heads of people dreaming up this explanation, and not in Putin’s head. Although he does try to divide people.

Many people missed that Christopher Steele complained most about his nationality being revealed. In otehr words, Putin thought Steele was working for somebody British, so inventing bad stories about Trump, including the idea taht Trump was compromised by the Russians, would not conflict with trying to help Trump win the election, but might later divide the U.S. from the U.K.

I think Putin really did favor Trump because he thought Hillary had some principles which included being against what he did and was doing in Ukraine. Thsi was because he misteknly believed that Victoria Nuland was acting on Hillary’s instructions in 2014.

And the break with the Clintons came in 2014 and not in 2011, and her pro forma support (which she had to give as Secretary of State) for fair Parliamentary elections in 2011 was not the reason Putin turned against her, although people in lower ranks in the Russian government may have been told that.

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  113. Is Kelly trying to break-away some Democrats?

Meanwhile Schumer is trying to break away 8-10 Republicans to co-operate on legislation.

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  114. This is what President Trump just told the police to do:

Tennessee sheriff’s deputies torture teenager with stun gun

Warning: extremely disturbing video; the teenager is tied to a chair and gagged while three police officers torture him.

The incident occurred in 2016, but since the officers were acting in line with Trump’s recent directive, will he pardon them?

    Dave (445e97)

  115. Everybody repudiated it. Trump sounded a bit like Duterte. There’s something about him that seems to at least pretend to disregard the law. He did this with complaining about Sessiopns recusing himself , although he does have a complaint how did an investigation that concerned only his campaign get started. Which looks at it also from a highly improbable angle.

He may with this business of acting like Dirty Harry have been trying to stimulate opposition which people who were his voters will not understand. If I suspectred him of more thought, I’d say maybe he was trying to scare MS-13.

    Sammy Finkelman (02a146)

  116. If I suspectred him of more thought, I’d say maybe he was trying to scare MS-13.

Except these gang members are eat, drink and breathe violence 24×7, and I doubt it scares them much.

What Trump’s idiotic directive can do, though, is get guilty gang-members who are roughed-up off the hook and back on the street to commit more crimes and victimize more innocent people.

    Dave (445e97)

  117. Is this the end of the Scaramucci story? Or is there one more chapter? Because this reads like the second half of a revenge novel or movie script. Scaramucci was enticed into giving up his business and his wife and then was publicly humiliated. Why? Because of the way he opposed Trump in the primary or because of something else? And is he crushed or will he come back?
