Hey, MSNBC, Get It Right: ‘They are not militants, they are terrorists’

Filed under: General — Dana @ 10:07 am

[guest post by Dana]

Jonathan Greenblatt (CEO Anti-Defamation League) takes MSNBC to task as he accurately clarifies what most of us already know. Ironically, sitting across from him at the time is Rev. Al ‘Crown Heights’ Sharpton…:

“These have been some of the hardest days of my adult life. I’ll be honest, I am angry. I am angry with a world that allowed the dehumanization of Israelis and sanitized the terrorism of Hamas. I must say, I love this show and I love this network but I gotta ask, who is writing the scripts? Hamas, the people who did this, they are not fighters…they are not militants, and I am looking right at the camera: they are terrorists. It is a barbarian who rapes and brutalizes women, who kills children in front of their parents, and then, brings them over to Gaza.”

“So look, when we say, ‘Oh this was an escalation, it was bound to happen.’ I am sorry, this was a massacre that was pre-planned, this was not destined to happen. It is not normal to shoot teenagers in the back hundreds of them. So I just think, guys, get the story right.”

You can watch the full video here.

You can pick apart Greenblatt all you want, but I am pleased to see him call out MSNBC (and by extension, major media outlets which are referring to the terrorists as militants and fighters).

  1. Hello.

  2. The New York Times had that word in its headline Sunday. I also heard it this morning on WABC radio (I think)

I could see that they don’t want to use terrorists. This is more than unsupported independent terrorists.

I could see not wanting to use Hamas. they didn’t know who commanded them. (At first it was thought they were Islamic Jihad.)

Try barbarians. Or if that’s too opinionated, commandos.

  3. Why don’t we see and hear the word “evil” used where it is appropriate?

‘I’ve never seen anything like it in my life. It was a planned ambush. As people came out of the emergency exits, squads of terrorists were waiting for them there and just started picking them off.

‘There were 3,000 people at the event, so they probably knew it. They had intelligence information.’

Some ran into the bushes. But they later came after them. 260 bodies were counted by Zaka. Some others may have been killed outside, maybe in cars by the terrorists leaving. An unknown number were taken prisoner, many shot in the legs to keep them from escaping.

It is pointless for western or OECD countries to condemn this although it would be significant if they did not come out with these statements. This needs to be condemned by Arabs and Muslims or duly notes who didn’t.

As for the UN they should do whatever they did after September 11, 2001 and a resolution doing just that should be brought to a vote, just to see what side different regimes are on.

  5. Your post should be held up as a constant rebuke to the cowardly press and I hope your post contributes to the amplification of Greenblatt’s plea.

  6. By that measure, can we also say that Russia is a terrorist state, and that the Russian military are terrorists? Seems so to me.

  7. Would re-electing Kevin SOH be such a bad thing?

Yes, I know he said he would not seek re-election. This seems like the most likely/opportune time to push it upon him.

    felipe (9bcc73)

  8. He’s CEO of the ADL. Would he have the same reaction to an attack on Americans by an aggrieved foreign power? Perhaps Cuban “fighters” killing people in Miami? I mean, would we not deserve it for wrecking the worker’s paradise with our heartless embargo?

    Kevin M (ed969f)

  9. Yes, I know he said he would not seek re-election. This seems like the most likely/opportune time to push it upon him.

He now says he is open to it, and would serve. A few scalps might help.

    Absolutely.

But is it the least impossible thing?

  14. Nikki Haley on Hamas and Israel:

    Fox:

“This is not just an attack on Israel, this is an attack on America, because they hate us just as much…

“And I’ll say this to Prime Minister Netanyahu: finish them. Finish them. Hamas did this. You know Iran’s behind it, finish them. They should have hell to pay for what they’ve just done.

“…Look at what is being said by Russia and China. Absolutely nothing. There’s a UN Security Council meeting tomorrow. Guess what they’re going to say? I can tell you right now. They’re going to say to de-escalate. They’re going to say to cease fire. They’re going to tell Israel, don’t fight back. They’re not going to… condemn Hamas…Why? Because Russia, China, and Iran are joined at the hip. All three of them.

“…If ever there was a time that America needed to understand the difference between good and evil, and right and wrong—it’s now. America has been way too divided. Now is the time to come together and say we need to unite for our brothers and sisters in Israel. We need to unite for freedom.”

Nikki Haley’s message for the American people:

“What I want the American people to know is what happened when they were dragging those people in the streets, what happened when they were murdering innocent Israelis. Hamas—and the backers who support them, the Iranian regime, were chanting, ‘Death to Israel, death to America.’ That’s what we have to remember. We are united with Israel because both Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and the Iranian backers— they hate us. And we have to remember that what happened to Israel could happen here in America. And I hope we all unite and stand with Israel because they really need us right now.”

Nikki Haley on the Iranian threat to America:

“I have been terribly worried about the fact that Iran has said the easiest way to get into America is through the southern border. We have an open border. People are coming through. They’re not being vetted. We don’t need to wait for another 9/11.

“You also look at the fact that, Kristin, America is incredibly distracted and incredibly divided. And when America’s distracted, the world is less safe. And look at what happened to Israel—they waited for them to be distracted. And that’s when your enemies move in. America needs to wake up. We need to put this negativity and division behind us, and we need to focus on national security for ourselves and for our friends.”

Nikki Haley on Biden’s $6 billion ransom to Iran:

“I actually think it was irresponsible for Secretary Blinken to say that the $6 billion doesn’t weigh in here. I mean let’s be honest with the American people and understand that Hamas knows and Iran knows they’re moving money around as we speak because they know $6 billion is going to be released. That’s the reality…

“Look at what the Iranian people, the Iranian regime has done to threaten Israel over the years. To think that they’re not moving money around is irresponsible to say that to the American people. They are moving money around to threaten those they hate. They hate Israel. They hate America. They are going to continue to use this. It was wrong to release the $6 billion, but let me tell you what else was wrong. It was wrong to go and have that debacle in Afghanistan. It was wrong to waive sanctions on Iran that gave them even more money. Money has been flowing to Iran, and that is the problem because when Iran gets money, they use it for hate.”

  15. @14 tough talk is cheap when you don’t have to back it up. I don’t see her volunteering to crawl into those tunnels in gaza. Netanhayu is blocking food shipments to gaza to starve children to death.

Let me be the first to congratulate you on bravely volunteering to take food and water to the children in Gaza. I want to provide a link for those naysayers on this site, but I’m having trouble finding the comment where you made your full-throated pledge.

As far as I know neither John Paul Jones nor French resistance fighters murdered hundreds of young people attending a music festival. Nothing close to an equivalence there. A bunch of 20-somethings having a good time, as people that age like to do, were killed for — what, exactly?

The tragic thing, or one of the tragic things, is that many people are now going to die in Gaza and Israel and who knows where else because of the ugly logic of war, which takes on a life of its own. It would be great if the killing could just stop, but calling for a cease fire now is as others have pointed out sort of like calling for a cease fire on December 8, 1941. Oddly, — some of those who called for a cease-fire somehow forgot to also call for an immediate release of the hostages. Must have been an oversight.

Hamas says it will live-stream executions of hostages and Israel will no doubt respond with strikes that kill many more people. Some of those who die will probably be 20-something Palestinians who might have had a good time at that music festival themselves if the grip that stupid hatreds (e.g., hating Jews just because they are Jews) have on people did not prevent it. If the Hamas leadership cared about them, it would not have attacked.

The Hamas leaders who ordered this attack may be many things, but they aren’t so stupid that they couldn’t have predicted how Israel would respond, and they were starting a conflict that will kill many thousands of innocents. It’s hard to ask this question about any human being, but you wonder if any of them actually have a conscience. And of course the same also goes for Putin, who’s killed many more people with no apparent remorse.

CNN puts palestinian terrorist on the air and lets him lie without challenge. About par for the course as we see with all leftists making excuses for the slaughter of innocents.

“I don’t see her volunteering to crawl into those tunnels in gaza” The litmus test used to be ones position on abortion, but now we are expecting our potential candidates to volunteer to crawl into Hamas tunnels in Gaza?
That is quite a shift of the goal posts

  23. asset, sorry for the incomplete post

you are right, tough talk is cheap, but we understand the leader(s) of the free world are going to be delegating tasks like tunnel ratting to others.
No attack here on Ms. Haley’s credentials, but she’d be a liability. Maybe not as much of a liability as Trump or Biden, but still, you really do not want a 51 year old untrained person whose last gig was at the UN leading the assault on a tunnel

  24. Just a reminder that MSNBC and CNN have repeatedly called Jan 6th protestors terrorists and insurrectionists, but they refuse to call actual Hamas terrorists what they are.

Think about that the next time you use them as your source approvingly.

  26. @17 I have many times here called for a solution that would work. I can’t say it would be peaceful. Have egypt take over gaza and disarm hamas. It will cost us a lot on $$$ ;but cheap at the price. Egypt doesn’t want to take over so we have to make them an offer $$$ that they wont refuse. If you disagree what is your solution that would work. Think your going to kill all the men of gaza?

  28. https://freebeacon.com/latest-news/shame-house-dems-slam-squad-colleagues-for-calling-hamas-terror-resistance/

Pro-Israel House Democrats called out members of the “Squad” for referring to the Hamas terror attacks against Israel as “resistance” and laying criticism on the Jewish state.

Reps. Rashida Tlaib (D., Mich.) and Cori Bush (D., Mo.) received blowback from fellow party members for their statements after Hamas terrorists killed hundreds of Israeli citizens this weekend.

Tlaib said she continues to “grieve the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day” and called for “dismantling the apartheid system that creates the suffocating, dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance.”

Bush called for an end to American aid to Israel.

“As part of achieving a just and lasting peace, we must do our part to stop this violence and trauma by ending U.S. government support for Israeli military occupation and apartheid,” Bush said.

Democratic representatives Ritchie Torres (N.Y.) and Josh Gottheimer (N.J.) called out the statements in comments to Jewish Insider.

“U.S. aid to Israel is and should be unconditional, and never more so than in this moment of critical need,” Torres told Jewish Insider. “Shame on anyone who glorifies as ‘resistance’ the largest single-day mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. It is reprehensible and repulsive.”

Gottheimer said in a statement that he was sickened by the Squad Democrats’ calls to end aid to Israel after Hamas’s murderous rampage.

No shock that the most radical leftists are in league with the terrorists.

  29. Egypt would try to get as much money upfront as possible and then string everyone along for as long as the money lasts. Why make Egyptian mothers upset over a problem Egypt does not have. Mercenaries would do it for the money and Wagner is available, but I’ve heard they are a little understaffed at the top
