More great things happening at The Dispatch:

As of today, The Dispatch officially has a national correspondent—and you might have heard of him. We’re thrilled to welcome Kevin D. Williamson aboard our ever-growing pirate skiff, where he’ll be the author of the weekly Wanderland newsletter and a regular contributor to our website.

I adore Kevin D. Williamson. I appreciate his wit and sharp insights into a variety of subjects. I also appreciate his fearless writing. There are no sacred cows in his world. Along with the indispensable Allahpundit Nick Catoggio, readers of The Dispatch are in for some great reading.

From Williamson’s introduction: The Dispatch is operating on the theory that our readers aren’t stupid. Count me in!

  1. Yay!

  2. Operating on the theory that the free trade economic libertarian and interventionist neo-con donor class has lots of money for us to siphon off in the vain attempt of convincing 85% of the republican party who are anti free trade and anti interventionists populists to listen to their conservative “BETTERS!”

  3. “the free trade economic libertarian and interventionist neo-con donor class…”

    Who talks like this?

    Do you now…

‘You can get free bibles from friends, thrift stores, and online websites. And of course you can read the bible for free online. There are several free bible downloads online. You can even schedule the apps to remind you when its time to read your bible.’

Dues for admission to an echo chamber is Bill Fields at his most entertaining; you know why people keep paying more and more to for admission to Disneyland? Because they’ve been promised it is ‘the happiest place on Earth.’

  5. Thank you, Dana. KW has written a number of things that I admire.

  6. As a charter subscriber, couldn’t be happier. The Normal Wing of the GOP has a chance to emerge.

  7. Perhaps his readers can encourage Williamson to lose some weight. If he can gin up more discipline than those flyover country meth heads he wrote off a few years ago could, he may extend his career.

  8. @7. ROFLMAOPIP- what a load that is off NR’s… ‘mind.’

  9. 8… he’s a smart guy, he can do it.

    Colonel Haiku (76a1de)

  10. “But he’s fat.” says nothing about whether or not he’s smart. It’s just a useless attack on his physical appearance.

(I have don’t even know who he is, so I don’t actually have a dog in this hunt, but insulting someone’s physical appearance in order to denigrate their ability is really weak-sauce.)

  11. @10. Until he opines on healthcare, given obesity is a major medical problem in America. He’s had issues in the past… but hey, it’s a free country– unless you choose to pay to read his opinions– then, not so much. 😉

  16. @15. ‘Indispensable.’

That’s probably a much better name for the platform than the militarist term, ‘Dispatch.’ Loyal opposition and all that.

  17. Speaking of The Dispatch, here’s Allahpundit’s first full post there. (H/T Patterico on Twitter.) It’s very good.

  18. BTW, Patterico and I had a little conversation in Nick’s thread.
    Good commenters, good civility.

  19. …Trump has pointedly complained to some of his closest associates that DeSantis is attempting to take the national news cycle away from him, two sources with knowledge of the matter tell Rolling Stone.

Trump has fumed over all the praise DeSantis’ action has been receiving in influential conservative circles lately — such as on right-wing media like Fox News — and has privately accused DeSantis of doing this largely to generate a 2024 polling boost for himself among GOP voters….

    …Trump’s options.

I can think of two possibilities, both of which would carry risks for the party.

    One is abortion….

……Which leaves us with the nuclear option, Trump’s second potential line of attack on DeSantis. He could demand that the governor answer forthrightly whether he believes the 2020 election was stolen or not.

Or he could wait and see if DiSantis gets himself in trouble because of his planes.

    Sammy Finkelman (1d215a)

  20. Trump could be waiting for this to backfire.

You notice, he’s not getting involved.
