  1. 13 more ‘mornings’ to be tested.

Mike Lee tests positive for Covid. Amy an her Indiana brood and all the little senators she met with this week as well as al those unmasked people at her presser last Saturday best consider quarantine and get tested.

  3. Good news–so far–for the VP and Second Lady.
Joe and Jill Biden have tested negative, CNN tells me. No word yet on Chris Wallace.
Senator Mike Lee tested positive. He was at a Rose Garden event last Saturday, unmasked. On Tuesday, he stood next to Amy Coney Barrett in a Senate room, unmasked and not socially distanced.

  7. Pence v Biden… I would actually flip back to Pence. It’s one of these things I hadn’t taken seriously, but I can’t be the only one. I don’t even like Pence. I know Trump could never, ever, ever go for that.

But if they rolled Pence out at the next debate, he would crush Biden, be congenial, and I think it would be an interesting outcome.

Or he never gets sick. Just being in a room with others isn’t as bad as we thought. Hope Hicks is an attractive woman and was in a room with Trump, and we know how hard it is for Trump to restrain himself. Pence on the other hand has installed cold showers in every bathroom in the White House.

Trump is Trump’s kryptonite. Biden’s run circles around him by wearing sunglasses and riding bicycles around with some ice cream, intellectually dominated a debate by letting Trump actually dominate 99% of it.

Bernie would be out and about, telling us all kinds of ideas and plans, losing. But Biden’s watching Netflix and winning.

  30. Trump’s Secret Service Has Struggled With Outbreak at Training Center
The Secret Service sustained a coronavirus outbreak at its training facility in Maryland in August, weeks before President Trump was infected, evidence of growing infections at the agency responsible for protecting the president.

At least 11 employees at the center in rural Maryland tested positive for the virus even though the agency had closed it for several months this year to enforce procedures to mitigate transmission, according to officials with knowledge of the matter.

Some of the personnel are believed to have contracted the virus during training exercises and at a graduation celebration inside a nearby hotel where they did not practice social distancing, the people said.

You heard wrong. Most people here are disaffected Republicans who are simply disgusted with Trump, both personally and the way he has run his Administration.

My impression is that, for most, Biden is a lesser-of-two-evils choice. A cookie-cutter Republican would be far preferable, and if that is what Pence is, most here would jump at the chance.

(My personal view is similar, except that I view Trump as the lesser-of-two evils, because (a) Biden is old, declining, and even in his prime was a pandering politician who followed where the wind blows and (b) the Democratic party has taken an abrupt lurch to the left, and they will dominate a Biden administration in policy and personnel.

Trump has no ideology, he is just in it for his own ego, and has less scruples than a pit viper. But as venal as that is, when you compare it to a coterie of quasi-Marxist true believers, I’ll take the narcissist.)

Thank you, frosty. That was a nice twist on your part, that asking for facts from a White House known for stonewalling and spinning tall tales is somehow akin to an uncredible Alex Jones searching for his next bogus conspiracy theory. Well done.
Meantime, Cleveland officials found eleven cases related to the setup an planning of last Tuesday’s debate, and the stupidity and foolishness at the White continues.

A senior White House official said Friday that masks will still not be mandatory at the White House, describing facial coverings as “a personal choice,” despite overwhelming evidence that they help to stop the spread.
And the White House is not planning to move to a different, more reliable testing system after the one it uses failed to detect that adviser Hope Hicks had the virus the day she began experiencing symptoms.

Such a terrible thing to question their competence. The audacity.

And though his character is tainted by his association with a zero character running mate, Pence does have some integrity in there somewhere. And after almost four years of leadership-by-chaos, I’ll prefer something more rational and less chaotic. The treatment the president received is an antibody cocktail developed by the biotech company Regeneron, according to a memo from his doctor, Dr. Sean P. Conley. Mr. Trump is also taking vitamin D, zinc, melatonin, a daily aspirin and famotidine (an antacid better known as Pepcid), the memo said.

There are no approved treatments for Covid-19, but the Regeneron treatment is one of the most promising candidates, along with another antibody treatment developed by Eli Lilly. Both are being tested in patients around the country.

Initial results have suggested that they can reduce the level of the virus in the body and possibly shorten hospital stays — when they are given early in the course of infection.

Yes… there are evidence that the virus is/has been mutating to a less severe strain. We won’t know for sure till we’re well into the next flu season. (or the virus mutates again to be more virulent).

Plus, even if it does roar back being more deadly, we’ve learned from the past and strengthened our therapeutics. (For instance, dexamethasone is the steroid of choice right now, showing that the length of stay in the hospitals are reduced by 30-40% of “hospital days”. That number doesn’t seem big, but it’s REALLY impactful).

A mix of sodium hypochlorite, sodium chloride, sodium carbonate, sodium chlorate, sodium hydroxide, sodium polyacrylate and water, perhaps?

Republicans? Children shot? This, specifically, is what comes to your mind?

Any human tragedy will provoke thoughts and prayers from people of good will – thoughts from, say, atheists and prayers from, say, theists, with both from the inclusive polite. Some may be Republicans and others may be Democrats, but almost all are thoughtful, prayerful, and sincere people. The rest are easily identified as sarcastic.

“They said it had to be done very fast,” Ms. Izranova recalls.

She admits the tunnels are of limited efficacy in the coronavirus pandemic, but for her most important customer, every bit counts. The Federal Protective Service, Russia’s answer to the Secret Service, has helped build a virus-free bubble around President Vladimir V. Putin that far outstrips the protective measures taken by many of his foreign counterparts….
