Jeffrey Epstein’s Partner In The Sexual Abuse Of Minor Victims, Arrested And Charged

Filed under: General — Dana @ 1:00 pm

[guest post by Dana]]

Good news:

Ghislaine Maxwell, the former confidante of pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, was arrested on Thursday morning almost a year after Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan jail cell. A sealed 18-page indictment outlines six charges against Maxwell related to her role in the sexual exploitation and abuse of multiple girls by Epstein in the mid 1990s. She helped Epstein to “recruit, groom and ultimately abuse victims” and participated in a “conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts,” it says. She is also charged with perjury relating to alleged lies told in her deposition.

You can read the indictment here. It makes for very grim reading. It also indicates that Maxwell not only procured and groomed underage girls for Epstein’s use, but that Maxwell herself participated in sexually abusing some of the minor victims as well.

She is as hideous and reprobate as was Epstein. The staggering level of depravity boggles the mind.

  1. What a sick predator.

  2. Let’s hope all of the security cameras at whatever facility in which she is being held are “reliable.”

The only real cloture that is needed in this ugly matter is a full accounting of Epstein’s crimes, as well as information on who was enabling him in his degeneracy. After that, Ms. Maxwell can prepare to meet Saint Peter and give her full account to him.

  3. I don’t want to see her “suicided” because I want the victims to be able to see some kind of justice, which might possibly help them to heal.

    Dana (25e0dc)

  4. I’m still grimly amused by how little call there has been to get to the bottom of his suicide from anyone in a position to do something about it. The lack of any interest speaks volumes.

  5. The lack of any interest speaks volumes.

Epstein was wise to cultivate friends all over the police spectrum. It’s like the old joke about the madam being called to testify in court and warmly greeting the judge, bailiff, court reporter, DA, defense attorney, and all twelve jurors by name.

  6. From the indictment:

The government has identified more than 15 different bank accounts held by or associated with the defendant since 2016 to the present, and during the same period, the total balances of those accounts have ranged from a total of hundreds of thousands of dollars to more than $20 million…She has also reported, including as recently as 2019, that she holds one or more foreign bank accounts containing more than a million dollars.

That’s a lot of money that could be used to pay off any number of people…

    Dana (25e0dc)

  7. Also: She traveled at least 15x internationally in the last three years, including to the UK, Japan, and Qatar.

  8. Meanwhile in the Twitterverse this is seen mostly as another stick with which to beat Trump. That there are victims here barely registers.

  9. Since this came out, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that a woman would be involved in this to help a man abuse little girls. I get that the man has a psychological illness that drives him to this depravity. But what woman would go along with abusing little girls? What’s in it for her?

  10. But what woman would go along with abusing little girls? What’s in it for her?

World travel with luxurious accommodations, the opportunity to hobnob with the rich, famous, and influential. Lots of women (just like men) would sell their own souls to be a part of the action.

  12. Does anyone find it interesting that *this* happened shortly after Berman being let go? Was Berman blocking this???

    whembly (51f28e)

  13. It is a shame that we’re all holding our breath for whether she actually lives to be held accountable in court. Each of these examples tears respect for justice and law down. We’re turning a corner as a society this year.

  14. Does anyone find it interesting that *this* happened shortly after Berman being let go?

No, but since Berman was appointed by Trump I’d be glad to run with it. 🙂

    RipMurdock (d2a2a8)

  15. Really, whembly? It was Berman’s first assistant Strauss who arrested Maxwell. Berman made sure she was in charge. Rather than speculate Berman blocked this, you should be acknowledging that finding Maxwell happened on Berman’s watch. The only reasonable conspiracy theory to hatch at this point is that they are arresting Maxwell now, before Trump and Barr can replace Strauss and stop the pending investigations.

That the talking point has come out so fast in the opposite direction is very disturbing. Way too many misdeeds on Trump’s part are first spoken of as out of the blue, bizarre accusations against Trump’s foes (usually law enforcement trying to do their job).

  19. This is fantastic news. I hope Trump doesn’t have her murdered before she can be convicted and testify against others.

(that’s a joke btw, I’m aware of no evidence that Trump had Epstiend killed)

  20. Except that they did a lot of this stuff at Mars a Lago, Trump joked how Epstein liked ’em young, and the 1994 allegation against Trump, and the office about to arrest Ghislaine just ran into bizarre interference from AG Barr.

    Dustin (739c8b) — 7/2/2020 @ 3:06 pm

None of that is evidence. It’s just filler for a conspiracy theory that I’ll counter by asking you to list 3 things that Trump has clearly managed well. Just 3 things that show he’d be competent to pull that off.

    Time123 (9f42ee)

  22. It is indeed a conspiracy theory. But it’s a pretty good one.

Trump did a good job covering up Russia’s murder of our soldiers. It came out, but it’s amazing it took so long.

His necktie game is generally on point.

He is a masterful used of allcaps.

That said, your point is great if you’re saying Trump was not the mastermind of an operation using Epstein in an international blackmail scheme. I agree this is likely not the case.

But add it all up. Something has been tugging at Trump’s decisions, like a black hole we can’t see, but we know is here because of how it bends light. This tug has appeared to benefit Russia, sometimes to an extreme extent. Initial claims about Trump involved a sexual video being used to blackmail him. Add in he considerable evidence that Trump is a sexual weirdo and his ties to Epstein, and the very surprising way the administration knocked out a USA just before this development…

It’s a really interesting conspiracy theory. It beats the Trumpian ones like Cruz’s dad killing JFK or Obama being born in Africa.

We probably shouldn’t elect weirdos who are pals with people developing blackmail material either way. It will be interesting if Trump pardons her.

  24. From one of the victims:

It’s the best news I’ve ever gotten in my life. I don’t have to hide anymore. I’m safe,” said Maria, who is battling two forms of cancer. Earlier this week, she told The Daily Beast she feared the criminal case would die with Epstein, who killed himself in August 2019, before he could face trial for his alleged sex crimes.

“When you wait a quarter of a century for something, it’s pretty exciting when it happens,” Maria said through happy tears. “It’s even sweeter, it’s just such a relief. I never thought it would happen.”

The victims commenting said that they had lived in fear of Maxwell, even up until the news of her arrest because that was how powerful she was and how far her reach extended.

    Dana (25e0dc)

  25. Here’s a little tidbit about her father, Ian Robert Maxwell, born Ján Ludvík Hyman Binyamin Hoch, a very variegated character in his own right:

The Foreign Office suspected that Maxwell was a secret agent of a foreign government, possibly a double agent or a triple agent, and “a thoroughly bad character and almost certainly financed by Russia.” Maxwell had known links to the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), to the Soviet KGB, and to the Israeli intelligence service Mossad.[44] Six serving and former heads of Israeli intelligence services attended Maxwell’s funeral in Israel, while Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir eulogized him and stated: “He has done more for Israel than can today be said.”[45]

We might want to expand our search for suspects in Epestein’s “suicide” a little bit farther east, maybe by 10,000 miles or so.

  31. Jared Kushner will find her, but will Mossad let him? I suggest that we reassess whom the “suiciders” of Epstein were protecting from him talking. From Dana’s comment at 24 above:

    DRJ (aede82) — 7/2/2020 @ 2:37 pm

    Yes… really.

The timing is awfully suspect imo.

Remember, Berman refused to sign onto a communication to DeBasio that the administration wanted. He wasn’t exactly a team player.

As for Strauss, she has agency to her own actions so merely pointing out that she was Berman’s assistant isn’t all that compelling.

The *biggest* red flag for me is this: why did it take this long??? She should’ve been charged as a co-conspirator at the very least when Epstein was arranged. I don’t think we have a satisfactory answer as to why Maxwell wasn’t charged until now, and I know much of the victim and their attorneys has opined as much.

  40. I thought he was stupid, thats not a criminal offense, now why wasnt she on an interpol warrant.

    Narciso (7404b5)

  41. Who says she wasn’t? Interpol mostly keeps Red Notices secret from the public.

Though Maxwell’s whereabouts had been unclear—and the source of much speculation since Epstein’s arrest last summer—FBI New York Assistant Director in Charge William Sweeney said during a news conference Thursday that authorities have “been discreetly keeping tabs” on her, adding that they pounced when they learned recently that she “slithered away to a gorgeous property in New Hampshire.” The indictment was filed under seal on June 29.
In court documents asking a judge to order that Maxwell be detained pending trial, prosecutors said she had been “hiding out” in various locations around New England for the past year, changing her phone number and email address, and ordering packages under a different name to avoid detection. Prosecutors identified 15 different bank accounts associated with Maxwell that at times held as much as $20 million. https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/02/us/ghislaine-maxwell-jeffrey-epstein/index.html

  44. It’s the best news I’ve ever gotten in my life. I don’t have to hide anymore. I’m safe,”

I don;t understand this, except that some crime victims have an inordinate fear, and can;t feel it is not rational for the perpetrator to devote much effort to do anything to her.. They;d just e crsating a new, more serious, and certainly more contemporary, crime, with a good possibility of having better evidence.Unless it’s a giant conspiracy, it makes no sense, bu if it a giant conspiracy they can’t care about anything she has to say.

If Jeffrey Epstein was alive, maybe. If it is only Ghislaine Maxwell, she has better things to do than to go after one minor witness, even before her arrest. And if she’s linked to others, how does arresting her remove the danger?

Roger Stone and his wife did do the same things, but in different circles, catering to different predilections.

Some things are more illegal than others – some were illegal, and even prosecuted, before around 1965-75, and are so no longer.
They really come down hard on anything having too do with too young an age.

And you know also, Jeffrey Epstein sometimes raped the, Rape rape as per Whoopi Goldberg. He would always give them money, and not a very tiny amount, even when he raped them, evidently so he could claim it was prostitution. Maybe it also gave the women very mixed feelings.

Ghislaine Maxwell was said to be Jeffrey Epstein;s girlfriend, (do we we know if that was ever true?) If so, then after he decided he liked women with some somewhat underdeveloped body parts better. She stayed close to him, and helped him.

There was also probably something highly illegal n how he got his money. Possibly Ponzi schemes.

    Sammy Finkelman (70b0bc)

  46. The Mossad may still feel the obligation to her father, Sammy. I actually had one of the Czech Mausers he obtained for Israel from Czechoslovakia in 1948. It had Czech markings which had been struck over with Nazi markings which had been struck over with Israeli markings, and converted to .308 from 8mm. It was surplused out by Israel in the 1980s.

And who knows what other patrons besides Epstein she has? Somebody has to have been helping her hide out after Epstein’s arrest.

    nk (1d9030)

  47. I missed this:

Since this came out, I had a hard time wrapping my head around that a woman would be involved in this to help a man abuse little girls. I get that the man has a psychological illness that drives him to this depravity. But what woman would go along with abusing little girls? What’s in it for her?

    Bored Lawyer (56c962) — 7/2/2020 @ 1:28 pm

She sexually abused and raped young girls too. She is a pedophile, who just happens to be a woman. No different than Epstein.

    Dana (25e0dc)

  48. Also, a woman claims she was raped repeatedly by Maxwell, and is willing to testify against her:

In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Jane Doe, who wishes to protect her identity, said Maxwell sexually abused her beginning in 1991 in Florida. She said the abuse continued until she was 16.

“She did rape me. I would say it’s more than 20 or 30 times,” she said. “She is just as evil as Jeffrey Epstein … She is a rapist.”

Jane Doe claims years of sexual abuse came to an end only after she became pregnant with Jeffrey Epstein’s baby. At age 16, she had an abortion.

“I had never been with anyone except for him [Epstein],” said Doe, who is part of a lawsuit filed against Epstein’s estate over a year ago. “The fact that I had to kill my child really affected me and my family.”

Suspecting that she had told her grandparents about the abortion, and fearful she would talk to authorities, Doe says, Maxwell, Epstein and others gang-raped her one last time as punishment. “Ghislaine was a part of it,” Doe said. “I was drugged.”

After the rape, Doe said, a driver with a gun drove her to her home. “I was dumped off in my grandparents yard naked, and was told that I wouldn’t come back alive the next time,” Doe said.

    Dana (25e0dc)

  49. We were saying:

As for Maxwell, Dershowitz writes in his essay that he never saw her do anything untoward and assumed she was simply Epstein’s girlfriend.

My wife and I were introduced to Ghislaine Maxwell by Sir Evelyn and Lady Lynne de Rothschild, and we subsequently met her on several occasions — generally in the presence of prominent people such as Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nobel Prize-winning scientists, presidents of universities, and prominent academic and business people. We never saw her do anything inappropriate. We knew her only as Jeffrey Epstein’s thirty-something girlfriend.

Later however, Dershowitz negotiated a controversial plea deal for Epstein in Palm Beach County that shielded the billionaire from federal prosecution in 2008. Epstein pleaded guilty to a state charge (one of two) of procuring for prostitution a girl below age 18 and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The deal also shielded Maxwell.
