The Latest Victim of Cancel Culture

Is now office furniture:

A desk once used by Woodrow Wilson has been removed from the office of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy as the former president falls out of favor over his ‘racist’ policies.

Murphy confirmed the news Tuesday – just one day after Princeton University stripped Wilson’s name from its public affairs school, saying the 28th president’s ‘racism was significant and consequential even by the standards of his own time.’

In an interview with CNN, Murphy claimed he hadn’t pondered the significance of using Wilson’s old desk until he was called out on Twitter after sharing a snap of the antique piece of furniture.

The Twitter exchange mentioned above began when Governor Murphy’s political team apparently convinced his Twitter account to post one of the most performative (thanks, by the way, to the BLM folks who have quite rightly tagged so much of woke white grandstanding with that very apt adjective, but now BLM should take a long look in the mirror) pictures of the entire George Floyd situation:

Who in the world told the governor that this picture would make him look like anything other than an exploitative dope? I want so badly to believe this was a bad decision by a bunch of smarmy political operatives as I insinuated above, but I have to consider the possibility that Gov. Murphy came up with this humdinger of an idea all on his own.

In any case, it’s only a goddammed desk, governor. And I am sure the desk is sorry that it ever let the wretched villain Woodrow Wilson make use of it.

  2. The leather (or pleather) backed office chair has been disappeared by anyone under 45 years old, based on 100 or so of my coworkers I’ve seen in remote meetings (only 2 thus far, me at 46 y/o and a 52 year old). Is it to save the cows or is it a vestige of the patriarchy, too hot to handle,

  3. I would not want to be the dining room table at the governor’s mansion in Montgomery right about now if George Wallace once made use of it.

  6. While Gov. Phil Murphy may not be a racist, he allowed himself to be bullied into submission, and caved to the mob. At the end of the day though, he has proven himself to be a vapid, pandering fool who has beclowned himself.

So, if an innocuous desk deserves to be cancelled, why on earth hasn’t the White House itself been razed yet?

Therefore, all of this makes sense.

Yeah, I know I am misanthropic and all, but one of the most absolutely fascinating things is watching woke white progressives go through all of this kabuki theater (well, there I go now: I’ll await my cancellation quietly at the bar, thanks) to try so desperately to show the BLM crowd that they are faithful allies, of one mind with them, totally in tune with the cause, unwavering and eternal, only to have the BLM crowd just dismiss them for performative and insincere devotion. It’s sad yet funny, like watching an incredibly needy yet annoyingly bothersome guy thoroughly strike out with the pretty woman he is desperately trying to impress, yet keep coming back for more just certain he is about to win her over if he simply keeps trying. But I’m mean like that.

  9. The liberal left will not be happy until they wipe out American history – the slave era, Civil War, Jim Crow era, you name it.

They will not be happy until they write the history as they see fit.

And most Republicans will nod in agreement.

  10. He came up with the idea. My governor is ashwhole. Never be one. He decided to lock us down further due to results in other states. I hate this totalitarian douche.

  12. N.J. restaurants NOT reopening for indoor dining this week after ‘knucklehead’ crowds at bars ruin it for everyone
    ……..
Murphy cited recent scenes from expanded outdoor bar and restaurants showing packed crowds not wearing masks and ignoring social distancing as a reason from pausing indoor dining indefinitely.

Murphy had provided the detailed restrictions for indoor dining at restaurants on Saturday, but changed his mind just two days later. The restrictions had included 25% capacity limits, tables spaced 6 feet apart, face coverings for staff and other rules.
    ……
…….“We are also moved to take this step because of what we have seen in some establishments across the state of late.”

Murphy added: “Overcrowding. A complete disregard for social distancing. Very few, if any, face coverings.”
    …….
The shift comes after some restaurants and bars have made headlines and videos of packed outdoor bars and restaurants, including last weekend at the Jersey Shore.
    ……..
Murphy warned people last week the administration would crack down on those violating safety guidelines after the first round of viral videos surfaced from the Jersey Shore and other bar-heavy locations showing large unmasked crowds jammed into newly opened outdoor dining areas.

“I get it. By the way, we all get it. There is pent up emotion to get back outside. We all want to be out,” Murphy said a COVID-19 briefing last week. “But there is no reason to be a knucklehead. Keep your distances. Wear your masks. Be smart and courteous – the world just isn’t about you. It’s about all 9 million of us.”

Recording reveals Ronald Reagan makes racist remarks to President Richard Nixon

    http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/07/31/ronald-reagan-racist-conversation-richard-nixon/1876134001/

WASHINGTON – In a newly released audio recording of an October 1971 conversation with President Richard Nixon, then-California Gov. Ronald Reagan is heard making racist remarks about a Tanzanian delegation to the United Nations.

In an article published Tuesday in The Atlantic, New York University history professor Tim Naftali writes that the conversation occurred the day after the U.N. voted to recognize China’s communist government.

Members of the Tanzanian delegation celebrated the decision to seat a delegation from Beijing by dancing in the General Assembly. That infuriated Reagan, who called Nixon to tell him he thought the U.S. should “get the hell out” of the U.N., which he called a “kangaroo court.”

“Last night, I tell you, to watch that thing on television as I did,” Reagan said. “To see those monkeys from those African countries – damn them, they’re still uncomfortable wearing shoes.”

“Look, I might as well tell you now. He’s a monkey.” – Peter Boyd [Ronald Reagan] ‘Bedtime For Bonzo’ 1951
