Monday Night Music

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 9:36 pm

“Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal” by Roger Quilter, sung by Bryn Terfel.

The songs sets lines from a poem by Alfred Tennyson of the same name:

Now sleeps the crimson petal, now the white;
Nor waves the cypress in the palace walk;
Nor winks the gold fin in the porphyry font:
The fire-fly wakens: waken thou with me.

Now folds the lily all her sweetness up,
And slips into the bosom of the lake:
So fold thyself, my dearest, thou, and slip
Into my bosom and be lost in me.

  1. I mean, I could put up a post about Kim Jong Un either being totally on death’s door per CNN or just fine according to seemingly everyone else, or Trump claiming to be banning immigration temporarily, whatever the hell that means, but no.
