Breaking: Warren Drops Out

Filed under: General — Patterico @ 7:52 am

News is just hitting now. I was wrong to suggest yesterday that she would hang on to the bitter end, in the manner of a Rubio or Kasich.

And then there were two.

  1. “And then there were two.”

    Ahem… Gabbard.

    Munroe (dd6b64)

  2. Two point zero five…?

    Ragspierre (d9bec9)

  3. Four little Indians going out to sea.
A red herring swallowed one: And then there were three.

  4. This helps Bernie Trump Putin.

    nk (1d9030)

  5. Princess Running Bear was vowing a floor fight just last week.

This means that DCSCA’s fever dream about “the establishment” running the boards will now litter THIS thread, too.

    Just damn…

    Ragspierre (d9bec9)

  6. Wow! Not unexpected but i was hoping she’d show up for one more debate. There was no hope for her after she came in THIRD in Massachusetts and didn’t do that well in NH or Maine. Looking at super Tuesday, her vote totals were always around 15% outside of the South, and she was always coming in 3rd or 4th.

I liked her, but looks like the D voters didn’t. This will help Bernie, but it may be too little too late.

  7. Bernie is now one person away from the Nomination.

    And Putin Smiled.

    rcocean (1a839e)

  8. @2: That’s worse than the three fifths rule. Way to go.

    Munroe (dd6b64)

  9. This is the establishment’s prayer to avoid a contested nomination. Makes sense but I think it will help Sanders more. Still it just means that Biden needs to get to 50+.1 to win. They are trying to avoid Burnie’s /sic fans burning it down.

    NJRob (4d595c)

  10. What is all this bushwa about “challenging the establishment?” Biden, Sanders, Warren, Gabbard, Bloomberg and the rest of them are (were) running to be representative of the Democratic party. If that’s not part of “the establishment,” what is?

    John B Boddie (286277)

  11. If DCSCA cites the John McCain example for old guy resurrected, I think I found one candidate for Biden’s Sarah Palin, if we’re going for pure looks as opposed to checking demographic boxes

    urbanleftbehind (5eecdb)

  12. If that’s not part of “the establishment,” what is?

I know, right? It’s like a “billionaire” Nuevo Orc City real estate mogul and tax-abatement king deluxe pretending to be an “outsider”.

I mean, who buys that crapola?

    Ragspierre (d9bec9)

  13. She relinquished.

  14. …hopefully to no one anymore, not even her husband.

  15. Now its a battle between the Senile old farts. one is a ‘youthful’ 78 the other is ’79’. Both voted for LBJ in 1964. Two old white men, who make Trump look like a youngster.

Lets see it goes in the next round, if Bernie can’t win, it’ll be another coronation. But at least Bernie will get another house out of it. PS – if Biden’s win big in the next Primary, I expect obama to step in and endorse him.

    rcocean (1a839e)

  16. When she announced she was dropping out, was she wearing a top hat with ‘VP’ on it?

    harkin (b64479)

  17. @5. Losing her home state was fatal to the campaign. And she at least had the savvy to wait until the 14 primaries were over but the ‘day of’ vote was tainted by DNC establishment meddling.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  18. Gabbard is hardly a threat to either, except on the debate stage standing resplendent next to those drooling geezers.

    Munroe (dd6b64)

  19. Warren’s collapse is a poly-sci research project at the ready.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  20. The Democrats seem to have learned lessons from the 2016 Republican primary.

    DRJ (15874d)

  21. From a Democrat in a Resurgent thread.

I don’t know how representative this is, but Warren twitter seems to be solidly team Biden. Sanders and his supporters have just turned too many people off with their insults and divisiveness. Democrats have endured 4 years of it with Trump, they don’t seem too keen on it from Sanders. Someone who pretends to be on their side.

If this is true, it’ll seal the deal for Biden.

    Paul Montagu (8497cf)

  22. Not enough women are ready for a woman President.

    DRJ (15874d)

  23. 15, we may see a shart moment if they even bother to debate each other before these latter contests.

    urbanleftbehind (5eecdb)

  24. 74 (in June) is much younger than 78 or 79? Maybe. Let’s see their physicals.

    DRJ (15874d)

  25. @7. Putin’s been smiling since November, 2016. And watching Americans in their supposed ‘democracy’ televised worldwide standing 5, 6, 7 hours in line to vote on lousy voting machines, likely made in China, has him beaming. The guy keeps winning w/a pair of deuces.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  26. @22. Well, if you go by popular vote, last cycle, enough were- HRC won that. It’s really now just a matter, in either major party, [if the parties survive] of who comes up to bat at the right time in the right inning of the ball game.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  27. One has had a heart attack; the other, brain surgery.

    … and Putin smiled.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  28. Ahem… Gabbard.

    God bless you, Munroe.

    JVW (54fd0b)

  29. “ Warren’s collapse is a poly-sci research project at the ready.”

The dinosaur media could only prop her up so long. Once she started out on the primary/caucus trail she absolutely failed to connect w voters.

    harkin (b64479)

  30. @28. In this day and age, don’t be surprised if her delegate a distant relation to… Putin. 😉

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  31. 29 – I have to add I was as big a dupe as anyone that she was in the catbird seat. It was all smoke and mirrors from the party/media elites who now must hold their noses and back Crazy Joe.

    harkin (b64479)

  32. If the GOP could find an American Thacher, she’s win handily. Alas…

    Ragspierre (d9bec9)

  33. lieawatha sent back to reservation

    mg (8cbc69)

  34. @11. Don’t think either party is going to make that mistake again… so soon.
    ______________

She’s making it official in her sidewalk presser– but no endorsement today.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  35. Running squaw see no path forward
    Bad medicine
Heap big think on who to endorse
Maybe Lying Dog faced pony soldier
Maybe old brave with hands that fly

    rcocean (1a839e)

  36. @32. ‘Alas,’—- they prefer their women in the kitchen.

“Where’s my dinner?” – George Parker [William H. Macy] ‘Plesantville’ 1998

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  37. Warren should endorse Bernie. I wonder if that will hurt Biden any, or at least less than her endorsing Biden.

    Kevin M (ab1c11)

  38. Don’t think either party is going to make that mistake again… so soon.

    Biden-Harris
    Sanders-Gabbard

    Kevin M (ab1c11)

  39. NO there are three! You can still vote for a woman of color Tulsi Gabbard. The sexists in democrat party are trying to keep her off debate stage!

    corona virus (918db8)

  40. but wouldnt that be a repeat of Cruz-Fiorina and also echoes Duncan Hunter Sr’s tactical endorsement of Mike Huckabee in 2008 (not that made much of a wave).

    urbanleftbehind (5eecdb)

  41. Two point zero five…?

Aloha Socialist has 0.7% of the vote, to date.

    She’s apparently a very slow learner…

    Dave (f5cf19)

  42. this is not the first time lieawatha had to leave a race

    mg (8cbc69)

  43. @43. Oh no, don’t go ‘Plagiarist Joe,’ mg: credit Greg Gutfeld- that was his line on Fox today.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  44. You know Clyburn is whispering in Joe’s ear… Masseur Joe, I done saved your bacon; now you gots to retool and pick you-self a younger sister to run with cause I sez so…

    Kamila Harris.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  45. heard it numerous places today and fox wasn’t one of them!

    mg (8cbc69)

  46. @44. Swell! Let’s peg Greg Gutfeld the plagiarist.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  47. ^46.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  48. @41. Meh. SD’s ol’GOP Hunter Sr., is wackybird nutz; endorses Carpetbagger Issa now, too, to replace his his crooked kid, GOP Hunter Jr., who was made my folks’ congresscritter through redistricting- and had to resign so it’s ‘taxation w/orepresentation’- neighbors are literally flying the Union Jack on their flag poles … and years before, they go stuck w/crook Randy ‘Duke’ Cunningham.

Honestly– it’s like Chicago w/o snow, ulb.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  49. @38. Thing is, Harris has both oars in the water– Palin’s just a little dinghy.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  50. Warren’s doing Maddow’s show, live, now from her living room. Her campaign’s collapse since summer is really going to be an intriguing poly-sci project for some grad student. You can easily pick a few superficial moments and missteps– but there’s a lot more there to dig up. Losing her home state in the primary– to Biden no less, was a stunner.

    DCSCA (797bc0)

  51. Stephen Colbert genuinely wanted her to be president. Seems like she was his favoritecandidate from what he said, and joked, last night.
