Bernie Sanders To Poor Women Of The World: C’mon, Abort Your Babies To Save The Earth

Those Democrats love them some dead babies!

This week, Bernie Sanders went on record as wholeheartedly engaging in the idea of abortion as a means of population control. At the climate change town hall, there was this exchange with an audience member:

Martha Readyoff: Good evening. Human population growth has more than doubled in the past 50 years. The planet cannot sustain this growth. I realize this is a poisonous topic for politicians, but it’s crucial to face. Empowering women and educating everyone on the need to curb population growth seems a reasonable campaign to enact. Would you be courageous enough to discuss this issue and make it a key feature of a plan to address climate catastrophe?

Sanders: Well, Martha, the answer is yes. And the answer has everything to do with the fact that women in the United States of America, by the way, have a right to control their own bodies and make reproductive decisions.

And the Mexico City agreement, which denies American aid to those organizations around the world that are — that allow women to have abortions or even get involved in birth control, to me is totally absurd. So I think, especially in poor countries around the world where women do not necessarily want to have large numbers of babies, and where they can have the opportunity through birth control to control the number of kids they have, it’s something I very, very strongly support.

(Note: Mexico City only excludes abortion advocacy groups from family-planning funding, in line with federal laws that ban the funding of abortion as a method of family planning. In plainer terms, the Mexico City policy does not prevent funds from going to birth control and other non-abortion means of family planning.)

There’s nothing quite like a powerful white male suggesting how poor women of color throughout the world should go about their reproductive business, am I right?? But exceptions are allowed when it’s the earth’s very survival we are talking about… Clearly Sanders believes in the wider utilitarianism of abortion: it would save the planet from overpopulation, and it would allow poor women everywhere to have fewer births. Win-win. Save the Earth: One Dead Baby At A Time! – what a campaign slogan.

Obianuju Ekeocha, a popular African pro-life activist, had this to say about Sanders’comments:

With upcoming US election, I’m see that a Democrat president will mean tyrannical American funded population control & slaughter of Africa’s unborn babies.

And, as if to underscore his annoyance at these overpopulation buggers who threaten the very survival of the earth, here’s Sanders telling a baby to pipe down:

  1. If you believe the earth is a god, and then claim that the earth is threatened by “X,” then it’s nose-nose-anything-goes as far as “remedying” the problem. Nothing is sacred. The collective good demand that everything (and everyone) is on the table of solutions. We’ve seen these “religions” before.

  2. Under most other circumstances, I would have a sneaking admiration for Sanders for telling the kid to pipe down. You know, if he was a lovable W.C. Fields like character instead of a crusty and hectoring old fart.

  4. I saw that reported at several places, kishnevi. I want to say how ironic a school teacher would ask such a question and believe what she obviously believes, but that would be pretty dumb of me.

  5. Someone should remind Bernie of a Pharoah and his population management planning regarding first born.

  6. Liberals and socialists also want to remove the poor of the world access to fossil fuels, meaning more trees will be cut down for fuel and wood burning will continue to be the greatest cause of respiratory disease in the third world.

  12. That was not the Pharaoh, it was God, and it is the first recorded act of terrorism, striking at innocents in order to compel or influence government action, followed soon after by the first recorded genocide, that of the Canaanites, the Amalekites and anybody else in the vicinity whose land Aaron wanted.

  13. The Amalekites, BTW, were considered the descendants of Esau, the first recorded victim of price-gouging.

You have it all wrong, nk. God being the creator, can do anything with perfect justice. God’s ways are so high above our ways that our judgement of His actions is less valid than an ant’s judgement of our actions.

  19. I have a suggestion for population control, too, but it does not involve babies. It involves old Communists and a one-way ticket to the State of Washington.

That is to my relief, truly. But we must remember that our words appear to many sets of eyes, that left unguided, may see error and think it comely.

  22. @17. Slightly OT– what’s the price of a MLB ticket go for these days, Haiku?

Years ago, brother and his wife split the cost of season tickets to Padres games w/another couple for several seasons and but then price jumped too high along w/t the costs for stadium goodies and parking so they dumped them. They discovered a minor league team played not far away and found it more fun; ‘better baseball’ – ‘Bull Durham-style;’ – easy access to chat w/players and coaches, too… tickets only $10 as well.

  23. @17 there are less smiles on kids living in garbage dumps around the world. @10 I support welfare that does not punish the recipient this would do more to limit abortions. also medicare for all tpay the medical cost. The hippocritical CONservative: I want to pass a law so I don’t have to for the babies after they are born. “After your born kid your on your own I don’t believe in welfare.
