DC Headlines

[Headlines from DRJ]

This weekend’s headlines at The Hill are, not surprisingly, about the GOP and Trump:

Trump defends position on trade after threat of new China tariffs.

An impeachment inquiry has begun.

Nikki Haley hits Trump’s ‘unnecessary’ response to Cummings break-in.

Hurd retirement leaves GOP gloomy on 2020.

But I think Trump supporters will respond to challenges like this guy: Man punched outside Trump rally: ‘If anything, it’ll increase’ my activism.

  1. “But I think Trump supporters will respond to challenges like this guy:”

Why? Because we’ve ignored the elephant in the room for months?

While perusing The Hill, you missed this one?

Just not much of a story, is it, compared to a Nikki Haley tweet.

  2. That Hill “story” is not a story at all, it’s the opinion of John Solomon and even labeled as such, and I would opine that most people set more stock by Nikki Haley’s opinions than by John Solomon’s.

Ah yes, leave the real news stories to legit journalists like Acosta and Jason Leopold.

I guess the Comey criminal referral never really happened. And, if it did, is it really a story?

And, can we get regular updates here on the latest Nikki tweets?

  4. It was a compliment, Munroe.

  5. Also, those were the top entries at The Hill when I posted this. There are different ones now:

    Just In
Biden faces scrutiny for his age from other Democrats (16 minutes ago)
Trump officials say nation’s largest facility for housing migrant children now empty (22 minutes ago)
Democrats need a majority — here’s how to get one (36 minutes ago)
Bring back America, democracy and freedom — Make China tariffs permanent (an hour ago)
Groups ask court to block ex-felon voting law in Florida (an hour ago)

What struck me was the negative stuff ending with the story about the guy who thinks negative stuff just makes him more committed. I think a lot of people react that way.

  7. Hopefully this will stop the idiotic “Haley in 2024” stuff that some Republicans are pushing. Haley is a globalist, never-trumper, who just thought it was good for her career to accept the UN Job, and go easy on Trump. Now, she’s back finger-wagging and sending out virtue signals. There’s a sort of old, white boomer type who loves people like Haley. She’s a woman of color, AND she Republican!!! Woo Hoo. Finally all those black people will vote Republican (LOL) And, never mind what she’s actually FOR, lets just nominate her, because she who she is.

  8. Good for Ms. Haley.

  9. @7. ‘Haley is globalist, nevertrumper…’

    Haley a ‘Nevertrumper?’

Haley was considered for some spots in the Trump Administraion accepted the nomination to the post of UN Ambassador by President Trump. And Haley left the UN post on her own terms and on her own timing- she was not ‘fired.’

Haley now sits on the BoD of a distressed Boeing, aflame w/737Max problems and other issues, in danger of getting burned by any executive decisions by same. She’ll bail out at the first opportunity.

    Trump/Haley 2020.

  11. @10. Decisions reacting to managing issues affect her. LBJ’s war became Nixon’s… ‘decisions made long before…’

    Sheesh.

  12. 9. “NeverTrumper” is a handy label for anyone who has ever been critical of Trump – unless perhaps that person has since converted to an unwavering defense of Trump in all things.
It’s meant to say that a person who criticizes Trump is inherently “biased” and not credible on anything. And also “deranged.” It’s intended to obviate the need to respond to the substance of any criticism of Trump.

By contrasted, the unbiased, reasonable, sane, “real Americans” can discern wisdom and goodness and truth behind everything Trump says and does – no matter how much contortion or self-contradiction is required to find it.

  13. “Globalist” is kind of in the job description if you’re US Ambassador to the UN. If she were a NeverTrumper, she would’ve told Trump to piss off after being offered the job. Instead, she took the job, killed it, and left on her own terms.
