The best food delivery apps of 2019.

Are these the best apps? I have no idea. But read this:

Survey finds 28 percent of delivery drivers have tasted food they’re delivering:

Have you ever opened a food delivery and wondered whether the food just got shaken up during the journey or if your driver took some? If so, you’re not alone, and you’re not being paranoid — a new survey from US Foods found that impulse has gotten the best of many a delivery driver.
***
US Foods conducted the survey between May 9-13, 2019, and of the total 1,518 American adults who responded, about 500 were delivery drivers.

Of those 500 delivery drivers, 28 percent of them (140 drivers) admitted to taking food from a delivery at some point. When asked if they are often tempted by the smell of the food they deliver, 54 percent said “yes.”

Small survey but I guess it rings true. Food deliveries do smell great.

PS — I think the US Foods’ link is the best link in this post so here it is again.

  1. I heard about a delivery guy who was living in the car he was bringing food in. His car looked like a hoarder lived in it. I’d be unhappy if that person tried my food because it is hard to keep hands clean under those circumstances

  2. Yikes. That makes this even worse.

  3. No way! I live in a place where I see a lot of them. Some with cars, some with bicycles or motor scooters. The thought of them touching my food … I’d buy an open container of ice cream at Walmart first.

  4. The services that are best are the ones that deliver from restaurants I like.

Something is left out here. It can’t be that one out every three adults is a delivery driver, or even was.

And if they tried to get delivery drivers, why did they take responses from people who were not?

  6. I don’t want some teenage schlub picking out my produce. Or meats.

  7. I use the grocery store to gather my grocery order and deliver it to my house. They get my produce from the cooler in the holding area, where they put produce before stocking it in the store, so it has never been handled. I have never had fresher produce. It looks nicer and lasts longer, too.

But I pick up my own restaurant orders.
