The Father Of Three Daughters Victimized By Dr. Nassar Tries To Attack Him In Court

[guest post by Dana]

After having stood beside one of his daughters as she gave her victim impact statement last week at the hearing of former Olympics gymnastics doctor Lawrence Nassar at an Ingham County Circuit Court and then standing by two more of his daughters today as they gave their victim impact statements in Eaton County Circuit Court, Randall Margraves had had enough:

He asked Judge Janice K. Cunningham if she would give him “five minutes in a locked room” with Dr. Nassar. When she said no, he asked for one minute.

As she was speaking, saying that he knew she could not do that, Mr. Margraves then rushed across the room toward Dr. Nassar, who was seated at a table on his left toward the front of the courtroom. Law enforcement officials wrestled Mr. Margraves down to the ground, handcuffed him and led him out.

Margraves was arrested and held in contempt of court. Judge Janice Cunningham declined to sentence him to any jail time, nor did she require him to pay any fines:

I can’t say I understand what it would be like to stand there as father and know that three of your girls were injured physically and emotionally by somebody sitting in the room.

I don’t disagree that as a parent and the victims that you want people held accountable. I don’t disagree with that. Use the legal system to do it. Use the system of justice that is here. And there will be the proper punishment. But as for the direct contempt of court there is no way this court is going to issue any type of punishment given the circumstances of this case.

Margraves then apologized to the court:

I have the highest and utmost respect for the justice system. I’d like to apologize to everyone in the courtroom and all the officers, they are fine upstanding officers who had to deal with my outburst.

I came here to support my daughters, I knew they were going to read a statement, I did not know what was in it, they would not let me see it ahead of time. I’ve got to hear that and have Larry Nassar shaking his head no, like it didn’t happen.

“I lost control, I apologize 100 times,” he added.

At a press conference later, he had choice words for Nassar:

I believe in God almighty. I believe in heaven and hell, and I can only hope that when the day comes that Larry Nassar has ended his days on this Earth that he will be escorted to one of the deepest, darkest, hottest pits in hell there is for him and people like him. I hope there’s a lot of pain attached to it because he certainly left a lot of pain on this Earth.

Amen.

May God help Margraves, his daughters and all of the victims who suffered at the hands of such an evil individual. In time, may healing and some measure of peace be theirs.

  1. people what don’t know how to behave in a courtroom mystify me

whether it’s this dude or those lying FBI maggots

you need to have a little respect

    Meh.

  6. @2. Yes. But the prison culture does have its own ‘special code’ for dealing with inmates who’ve diddled kids.

  7. Everybody wants to be part of the show. Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey used to do that. We would pay a little extra for front row seats and then be in the grand finale parading around the ring in swan boats.

  8. I suspect Nassar will eventually be put down by someone in prison, or should he ever actually get out, by one of his victims or one of their close relatives.

Down south they say “some people just need killin'” and I think he ranks right up there on a lot of lists.

  9. Some say the job of the criminal justice system is to protect the public from criminals but here is an example of the criminal justice system protecting criminals from the public.

  10. Judging by the sentencing here, molesting a lot of young girls is worse than murdering one of them.

  11. And Michigan state university, and the Olympic committee and NBC news which had to have known

  12. This guy had three daughters molested. By the same guy. Is he regretting missing some hints? Is he feeling guilty, for a good reason or no reason?
This anger is justified, but it might also be displacement.
THREE daughters, same circumstances, same guy, never had a clue.
I’d crawl into a bottle and die there.

  13. the olympics are probably the only thing sleazier and more corrupt than the lickspittle FBI

    but the thing is

most of the lickspittles can read

you know – books and stuff

  14. that’s actually a very astute observe Mr. Aubrey

  15. I don’t know about Michigan but where I live the rapists and child molesters are, and have been for years, kept separate from the general population. My guess is Larry is unlikely to meet up with Shank the prison knife.

  16. Otoh Mr margraves didnt notice when it happened on thres different occasions possibly, but we find the real Michael Clayton pat Fitzgerald of skadden arpz fame to disconnect michigan state from accountability for Dr. Passers grievous misdeads. This is uva or duke lacrosse 20 fold

    narciso (d1f714)

  17. One gets back to the fact that michigan state must have known this for years. A local version of Rotherham on lake superior.

    narciso (d1f714)

  18. It might be as much in the other parent (If that’s a legit union jacket, he’s probably side jobbing or OT many hours to afford the gymnastics training for 3). Isn’t Michigan already a lil bit Rotherham without this scandal?

  19. I was speaking of criminal impunity without referring to ethnic qualifiers, if you want to say Weinstein redoubt of the Midwest, I’ll stipulate, I understand mr margraves sentiment,

Judge should have put him in jail. What’s the standard sentence for assault? THirty days?

    30 days sounds fair.

Because this country is chocked full of self righteous [edit]holes out [edit]ing other people’s lives up, whereas there are just a precious tiny few Olympic chiropractors “adjusting little girls positive self image with a laying on of hands” (And you know that’s the way this quack was sold to the committee).
    Nassar is a unicorn.
Pissed off daddy is every other house.

  21. It’s akin to spraying DDT to control zika virus, versus manning a helicopter fleet to spot sharks near surfers.

    Priorities are reversed.

  22. Infamous prisoners are commonly segregated from the general population. However, remember that Jeffrey Dahmer was initially isolated but that isolation was eventually relaxed and he was murdered in prison after at least two attempts.

    WarEagle82 (2b3d34)

  23. What happened to Margraves’ daughters was part of God’s divine plan. We are far too simple and imperfect to understand God’s infinitely good, moral and complicated reasons for the pattern he weaves. The molestation of these 3 innocent kids will serve the greater good in his plan.

As for going to hell, Nassar need only to accept Christ as his salvation to have a place in in heaven eternally in the presence of God. Remember that God loves each of his children equally whether that child molests hundreds of girls or is one of the victims of said molester.

A more beautiful or moral system cannot be imagined I am sure.

    Gil (0bf8a1)

  24. Don’t count on it, Gil. If you want to be safe, stay away from those little kids.

  25. turns out the lickspittle FBI let these poor victimized girls get diddled like third whirl europeans while they spent time and resources conspiring against Donald Trump and associates

    happyfeet (28a91b)

  26. The judge should have granted Margraves request for 5 minutes alone with the filthy pervert who molested his daughters.

That would be about as close to ‘justice’ as it gets in America’s courtrooms these days.

  27. The Hill reports:

The Democratic prosecutor challenging Rep. Devin Nunes (R) for his California House seat has raised more than $100,000 over the past two days amid the release of Nunes’ controversial memo.

A campaign spokesperson for Andrew Janz confirmed to the Hill that Janz’s campaign raised $111,506 over Thursday and Friday, and $54,394 on Friday alone.

“Our dramatic increase in contributions is a direct reflection of Nunes’s actions,” said Janz campaign manager Heather Greven. “[Nunes] has given Andrew’s campaign the best gift we could have received, he put a national target on his back and has made this a top 5 race. He is doing everything possible to make this a winnable race for us.”
